I just visited Cuba and I would add, in addition to what John Landis says, that it does still look like this, although in addition to everything falling apart, and that there's less traffic, a good percentage of the cars that you do see are from the 1950s - some of the same cars that appear in this movie, maybe.
If you go to the Tropicana nightclub (seen here), you probably will not see the show in this same auditorium. They only use it when it's raining.
