I think most people would be shocked to know just how long we humans have been inter-species breast-feeding. Even 20,000 yrs ago when both mankind and wolves discovered that it is most beneficial to colonize together, women were breastfeeding pups that had suddenly been orphaned which forged an even stronger bond between man & wolf. I think this lovely woman is kind & sweet to help an orphaned animal in this way. I wish there were more people like her in this world.

Her intentions are good, but that calf looks emaciated. She may be unintentionally harming the calf by not being physically able to provide enough milk for the calf. And bread is not what cows should be eating, they have not evolved to handle that kind of diet. I feel for her cause, but I disagree with her methods.

The calf may or may not be kept with the mother depending on what the cow was bred for and calves are frequently bottle fed. So an orphaned calf is just treated like most of the other calves and bottle fed.
