I'm putting together a FreeTrack system for Falcon 4. The next step will be a projector that can project onto a 180deg hemisphere around you. Now that WOULD be good :-)
I assume that in most case, you would want to calibrate the system in the way 180 degree turn in game would equal say 15 degree that you head must turn, it's the only way to keep an eye on your monitor always. I know it is not 100% realistic, but that's little sacrifice to what square monitor could give you in terms of immersion.
Hey man this is awesome!!! I assume you're using red LEDs on your cap. I have no knowledge about electrical work. What battery voltage, LED, resistor types are you using? and what other materials are needed to build the set on the cap?
it depends on your computer too, because it is running the processes at the same time. its like running fraps on full size at 60 fps while trying to play your game at the same time, except not as bad.
I dunno, but I've seen lots of vr systems on tv (Discovery Channel and alike) that also had similar jittering, one thing that reduced some of the jittering was to tune the camera as well the leds and ft's threshold so the dots are the smallest possible that won't blink depending ont he position, that way ft has less area to try to guess where the dot is
A little shaky, though.

Freetrack is way better than Trackir! This looks like the early version, the newer is much better.

Btw, will brighter LEDs be better for the webcam sensing? or is it the reverse?
