@you betterbelievehah: a baseless opinion is: a BASELESS opinion... say as compared to an informed opinion, or well considered opinion, or ridiculous opinion, or worthless opinion, etc... you offer a pointless opinion... Thanks for the heads up! I didn't even have to find the post/comment you referred to, in this response to you... it was ... pointless. Jeff is great though.
Not to mention everything about him is original, a very rare trait to come by in music. From his taste of music, the way he plays, even his proto punk rock fashion and attitude hail from his amazing originality. He does go with the times though, from rock, to fusion, to electronica and such, and he has made a living off of doing almost all covers. But dammit, Jeff makes those covers sound as good or better than the original.
Jeff is the ONLY guitarist I have seen who can make the guitar look so comfortable and easy to play, it just looks like an extension of his arm. He's also probably the most inventive of all the guitarists from the 60's on up. You listen to what he did in the Yardbirds, and then check out the shred in the JBG, and its like overnight he aquired this amazing skill to play, and hes built upon that ever since.
Jeff's just having FUN ! ! ! If you don't or can't have fun playing music you need to give it up and tell people forever more that you are NOT a musician ! ! !
Saw Beck in July '09 at the Royal Albert Hall w/Vinnie & Tal, very skillful and soulful playing all around. First saw him live on the same bill as The Mahavishnu Orchestra with Bernard Purdie as his drummer at Winterland in SF, early 70s, - they played the Blow By Blow album. Beck is in a category all by himself, a unique voice of the guitar and still doing it after all these decades.
Having played for over 30 years one has to respect Beck's style. I've never been a huge fan but I can't say anything. He followed his passion and is widely known while I humbly play at home for my own enjoyment. Bless you Jeff!
@k3KCT Place 'parantheses' around (articulates)... and yes... phew... Frankly... appilication of convention, demands understanding and developing convention... not ignoring or avoiding it.
To my ear Jeff beck is an absolutely amazing guitarist. As a player myself, I often draw to Jeff for inspiration as I do many other wonderful guitarists out there. Lets all join in celebrating Jeff's unique contributions to the music industry.
The best guitar effect is raw emotion streaming from human mind. Man, what I would pay to have the privilege of seeing him play in an intimate club setting. A true master of the electric guitar.

Jeff Beck was a blues master craftsman even in the 60's (listen to his "Truth" album), but in the intervening years he has transcended the genre -- and even the instrument -- to become a unique contributor to music history. No one plays guitar like Beck. And I don't just mean "what" he plays, but "how" he plays it. The control he has over the whammy bar alone is unprecedented, turning his fretted guitar into a fretless. No one ever imagined that -- until Beck.
No, I'm not wrong. You are thick. Conventions in musical work are MANY and applications of convention vary widely. Start w/construction, say. Mozart constructs, but you interpret, and I interpret differently. HOW? You phrase differently? Intoneate the intrument differently? Are you modal, rather than tighter in scale definition? Do you find that now, construction, interpretation, identity are GREATLY different? No? Precision is in technique. You don't have attention. You also lack dimension
I appreciate the fanaticism in these comments. Beck's finesse, IMO was his mastery of tone, not to discredit his impeccably sly hand on the fretboard. He has an awesome feel for groove and space in composition, and he plays well with others. More than a guitarist he reminds of the great brass jazz masters, like Coltrane or Miles.
@guntotingsound Joe Perry says Beck is the Master and has no equal. Jimmy Page says he laid down the blueprint and nobody sounds like him. Brian May from Queen says he's the Mozart of our time. But YOU say he should try harder so he could be as good as Page and Clapton. You're right, I think we should listen to YOUR opinion!
Jeff Beck is respected and admired by many top guitarists, including Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, David Gilmore, Brian May, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani, Mike Stern and Gary Moore.
Now, which should I value more - the professional opinions of some of the greatest players in the world or the views of some brave keyboard warriors, many of who probably haven't a musical bone in their bodies? Wow, that's a hard one!
@valentin80 Thanks for the heads up on Terje, who, I have to confess, I'd never even heard of. My first impression is that he's a bit more of a conventional jazz-rock player than Beck but he's still a great guitarist. Thanks again.
@britvox95z Yap... the man is a genious... you should listen his trios with Miroslav Vitous and Jack DeJohnette... search the albums and listen to them... you'll hear one of the most original guitarists of al time... he has an unique atmosphere... in his last period, Jimi had listen to an album of Rypdal.
Come on you wankers,,,,, can't you just enjoy a great performance from a great artist and leave it at that? I've hosted jams and can tell you that good or bad, I have more respect for those with the guts to at least try, than the hecklers who didn't!,,,,, Cheers!
I suspect the few who dislike this vid are more inclined to listen to tripe like Justin Beiber, or some rap garbage. Just because you can't dance to it doesn't mean it isn't good music. In fact, I'd be inclined to say just the opposite.
Beck's a fine guitarist/musician....blah, blah, blah.
However, in the final analysis listening and assimilating the incomparable artistry + musicianship of the late Shawn Lane...the likes of Page, Clapton, Beck remains an exercise in futility and exposition of ignorance about music.

@Easleytee Well said. I don't get "jEfFS bECK iZ g0OD" he might have been good for stoned retards in the 60s. Or for 60 year olds today but I know 2 FACTS: 1. most people that say Beck is good are over 50 2. 98% of them don't have an idea of what the minor pentatonic is (or a 10 hr woodshed session). There were far better players in the 60s and 70s Alvin Lee, Hendrix, Clapton. I just will never understand this but then again I studied music.
@PinkyWontWork Define "better". It's in the ear of the beholder. The "best" guitarist doesn't exist, did they teach you that in music school? We all have our favourites and they end up in our eyes as the "best". You make no point with your comment. And I don't like Beck much either, but he is good and gives a lot of people listening pleasure, and that in the end is all that matters.
@KNT0791 Let's do this ONE step at a time as I would with a 5 year old child..show me where I said "Best" guitarist? Don't try that 4th grade straw man argument bullshit with me. So answer my question and we'll go from there.
@PinkyWontWork ok didn't realize you were the grammar cops.....you said others were "better" pardon me. You must be a prodigy yourself spoutin off the way you do. There I answered your question and am ashamed of myself now for having an internet dispute with a retard. I feel dirty.
@PinkyWontWork Beck has one and I'm being generous, of the requirements for a great musician. You or other yum-yums liking him does NOT equal him being talented. Taste has nothing to do nor is it an ingredient of great musicianship. No matter how many people like shit like rap or lady gaga..it will not mean they're talented.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the man sucks. Deal with it. You're one of those stoned 60 year olds aren't you? Since your feelings got hurt.
@PinkyWontWork Your saying Jeff Beck sucks? Oh man. Get your head outta your ass. That dog won't hunt. By the way, it's spelled Ambien. And how can technique be of any ABUNDANCE. Dork. No artist in the fucking world would say Jeff Beck sucks. Plain and simple, like you.
@chuckbyf1 Let's take a look and break down Chuckby logic shall we? No artist would say lady gaga sucks but we all know she does. You really want to ask "h0WSz cANs TEKnIKES bE 0f aNY aBbUNDNCe"? Do you really want the biblical proportion type of schooling that question will create? Do you really want to be the ONE retard to ask how is Technique important in virtuosity (a trait that tells how good one is in MUSIC)? I'll give you a chance to take it back since you seem so sensitive.
@PinkyWontWork technique is a trait defines how one controls the instrument... the instrument is not the music. You can have an intrument perfectly tuned, and finger it exactly, and be AWFUL. It has less to do with virtuousity, than a good ear. You take yourself, back.
@PinkyWontWork These 5 things that Jeff hasn't got, maybe you have them, maybe other guitarists do have them. When Jeff Beck first touched a guitar, there were no training, teachers or study books for him. So he payed it his own way. Footballer Pele had no football teachers, training or studies - so he played it his own way. I say, if one person in the world finds Jeff's playing incredible, then he is incredible.
@nickJod1234 I wonder what 5 things are referred to, here. I can't find the specific post. I feel VERY comfortable saying: Pinky is an idiot. He may hate JB, but his explaination falls short, when he attempts to justify himself. It truly isn't that Beck has no technique or convention. Or, that he isn't proficient. He is clearly 'radically' different, when he actually applies those things. The BEST guitarist? No. But who cares? He plays beyond the capacity of most, and UNIQUELY! J.McLaughlin? no?
@MrATOMICBRAIN Honestly, I've never heard anyone play like him. He doesn't play like anyone else, and he doesn't follow a book. He doesn't play it how it is 'supposed' to be played. He doesn't stick with one genre. He may not do it 'like the best guitarist'. That doesn't mean he isn't great. If at least one person in the world thinks you are incredible, then you are in some way. Why am I trying to create an argument to support Jeff? Because there's a critic for everyone, even for Jeff.
@nickJod1234 yep... and Pinky shouldn't think he can pawn off his BS. In Pinky's case, I feel comfortable in pointing out to him, that he merely appears resentful and bewidered, ( totaly self-promoting), with overt hostility and false sense of reality. He should be mulling over why HE can't allow ME the ability, to see the differences in the terms:construction, (the 'song'/melody), interpretation(the artist/time) and identity(technique applied). Pinky is a narcsssistic nimrod. Beck's inspiring
@PinkyWontWork You found ONE requisite to musicianship? In any, mind you ANY note Beck uses, there will BE: Modality, dynamic, technique, harmony, melody, improvisation, overtones, harmonics, control, sensibility, function, precision, phrase, construction, interpretation, identity, and oh! I hear reality callin'? There is MORE you know? And I wasn't even started, on 'generous'.
@MrATOMICBRAIN Wrong...those ARE the only requisites but don't take my word for it..dig up the past great ones and ask them for yourself. Try Mozart, he was a motherfucker when it came to that. By all means DO get started..you're splitting hairs as interpretation, identity (seriously?) and construction are basically the same thing. Precision would fall under TECHINIQUE as most of your other ones which I already named as being a must. See my previous post and pay attention this time.
@PinkyWontWork Seriously. Jeff beck plays w/technique that is different from virtually anybody else, using the same conventions as anyone can. He is identifiable, as his techniques are highly refined convention. His phrasing is his own, tho he often dedicates his interpretations to have great attention to the composers construction. His precision is aimed at a broadly personal approach using specfic tecniques and various conventions, as he applies them. Learn what the words you use, mean, poser.
@PinkyWontWork I really can't take your word for anything. You would have me corrupt the studied words of others, as you do? You are an idiot who likes to be a snob, and has stolen the words of science, misconstrued their meaning, and then gone on to misapply that to art, and THEN fabricated a dillusion that you could critique... wow... a nimrod who fancies himself an intellectual. But don't take my word for it! Talk to Mozart. You know, when you drinkcoffee w/him, again. Or is that kool-aid?
@PinkyWontWork Clearification: Beck applies articulates guitar (accoustic/electric) and general musical conventions/technique in his own way. But all the considerations of tech/convention and STYLE are uniquely HIS applications, of the aforesaid REQUISITES, that you think you are talking about. I find no post from you in that regard (list of requisites), only shallow, inappropriate use of a couple vague inferences, and baseless opinion. You just hate Beck. And you can't say why, really.
@PinkyWontWork Mozart WAS a MF'r? Well now, a very astute observation, fleshed out delicately. Well played. You must be a genious. On piano, there are a scant few similarites in the way even a single a note is fabricated. That is a set of technique differences/considerations, of VAST importance. What Beck is manipulating is so different, with so many actually important tweekables at hand, technique-wise, that for him to play all those variables simultaneously, w/virtuousity is even MORE amazing,
@PinkyWontWork Again a matter of taste....it's music man, quit being such a fucking tight ass and learn to enjoy it, not become a fucking nazi. Speed???? Really???? You're a heavy metal retard aren't you?
@PinkyWontWork Oh, and pinky. Most people who like Beck are over 50 because he is over 60. Dumbass! Ask Clapton about Beck. They live close to each other. Hendrix and Beck talked to each other. Just get out of the discussion. I'm done. Don't bother replying. I'll just delete the fucking e-mail.
@chuckbyf1 You won't get away that easy..you'll have to be a big boy and DEAL with it..this isn't 6th grade where you pull your panties down like a little girl and tease the boys and then play hard to get and chicken out. If it hurts so so bad to read others reply then shut the fuck up and KNOW your role. Bubbles get burst all the time get over it.
So let's get this straight..you reply to make a point by..making "MY" point stronger? ?? ?? lol
@PinkyWontWork "I just will never understand this but then again I studied music." Ha ha ha - I don't believe a word of it. You are a poser who knows damn all. Go on then - link to your stuff and let us all review it - no? Where did you study? Just needed to get your little bit of negativity in, didn't you! Tou should do tutorials on harmony and show off a bit.
@chirpybee Like I said..I'm not doing the homework for you retards. If you go to my page here you'll find links to some of my clips and those were after recovering from a RSI (thus pinkywontwork) at my worst I stomp Beck. Back to the Bech.. Bench Player. and you ARE a Bench Player because I know you have "ZERO" clips of your playing IF you even play which is obvious you don't or you wouldn't argue Becks talent with me. Sorry to hurt your feelings man..I understand the truth hurts.
@PinkyWontWork keep telling yourself you're better than Jeff Beck. I checked out your shit. You suck. Nobody worth a shit would ever say they stomp Beck. Why am I even acknowledging such a faggot troll with no life?
@PinkyWontWork BAHAHAHHAAAAHHAAAHA!!!!!!! You are a sum total, narcissistic, soulless, contrarian buffoon, and i bid you good day.... "but then again i studied music".... BAAAHAAAHAHHAHAA!!!!!
I have played drums for thirty years. When I started to get good, I found that I had some trouble emulating some of my heros. After awhile, It occoured to me that I didn't have to be every drummer. When I embraced that idea and just played what I was feeling, an amazing thing happened. I became a player. For all of you young talents, love "em all, and use what fits. All of us old schoolers are setting the building blocks for you all. Treat it like its bigger than you.
His playing is like a man wearing a big shoe and a small one. Half of his steps are like the tones of a mouse's pip, and the other half stamps out powerful bursts of sound.
No other guitarist has his perfect balance of pure filthy sound and pristine clarity, speed with space and sensitivity. No other has his longevity and relevance, They are either dead or unable to move with the times. Jeff is timeless.
I still love the fact that Steve Vai parodied a guitar magazine cover that Jeff did. Jeff had a pink Jackson w/ Tina Turner's name etched into the guitar. Steve had the same kind of guitar, only his had Ike Turner's name etched in. lol
Comparisons CAN be made, but they ultimately express only the taste of the guy doing the comparison. Who's better?- Tony Rice, Jim Hall, Jeff Beck? Nope. At some point the comparison becomes futile. When a musician becomes a master, becomes as good as it can get, it's not longer a question of who's better but who do I like better. Preferring one master to another - Sure. Hating one master compared to another - NFG. Beck is as good as it gets. Some people don't prefer him. Their loss.
@dirk48 Some Karate masters specialize in strikes, others throws, locks or kicks. Some surgeons do hearts, others brains and hearts. No Doctor can specialize in the whole body. No Master mechanic can fix turbines, and drag cars. Look at muscians in the same light.
Most guitarists you can hear what influences they have had and or what scales they are playing but Jeff Beck is so friggin' different!!! Love this guy!
idk why everyone on youtube always wants to compare guitarists like, "Aw Vai could fuck up Petrucci and Yngwie is better than Satch."
Fuck that, all these guys be doin is makin some awesome fucking music. Now, I would consider myself a Vai fan over Jeff Beck, but I aint sayin he's better. And this fuckin music is some of the best shit I've ever heard.
Gives full meaning to the expression 'less is more'. Wonderful restraint with flashes of fury. The old Delta bluesmen would smile on their 'great grandson'. Hats Off.
"Gives full meaning to the expression 'less is more'. Wonderful restraint with flashes of fury. The old Delta bluesmen would smile on their 'great grandson'. Hats Off."
Can't add one word to your comment. My berets Off to you!
its not how good they are,its how good they make you feel. period. ive started getting into steve vai and the 1ST GO AROUNDS WERE SCAREY AND NOW HE AND THE BAND are awesome...you cannot compare any guitarist to anything...............except how they pick your strings
He doesn't seem to do any muting other than with the left hand and the result is a very quiet ( no other string noise) style with great attack. He doesn't rely on blank speed and blinding runs up and down, just the impact of the attacking style. It works.
@talkingwall .....In the long run, even after a woman gets her self esteem slammed to the curb like a red-headed step child , she always ends up liking the bad boy after all. It's quite the phenomenon. Never fails.
@AvirtualSwitzerland Dude, you are just so full of yourself. Cut it out, you're cracking me up. Actually, on second thought, keep it going, you make for such a good laugh each day.Sorry disappoint ya, happily married for 33+ years to the same great English girl (well she could pay Miles Davis' music a little more respect but other than that, she's fantastic).
@Suspiciousbaglady ...Are you that lonely that you are STILL bothering me? And, I guess you like abuse just like I said. Why else would you still have my "invitation" up on your comments section on your page? BAD BOY mystique.....It's stronger than you admit. Give in to the dark side Haggy.

@britvox95z I think that Jeff Beck was influenced quite a bit by Terje Rypdal... awesome guitarists... both of them.
valentin80 6 months ago
@valentin80 Thanks for the heads up on Terje, who, I have to confess, I'd never even heard of. My first impression is that he's a bit more of a conventional jazz-rock player than Beck but he's still a great guitarist. Thanks again.
britvox95z 6 months ago
@britvox95z Yap... the man is a genious... you should listen his trios with Miroslav Vitous and Jack DeJohnette... search the albums and listen to them... you'll hear one of the most original guitarists of al time... he has an unique atmosphere... in his last period, Jimi had listen to an album of Rypdal.

PinkyWontWork 9 months ago
@PinkyWontWork Define "better". It's in the ear of the beholder. The "best" guitarist doesn't exist, did they teach you that in music school? We all have our favourites and they end up in our eyes as the "best". You make no point with your comment. And I don't like Beck much either, but he is good and gives a lot of people listening pleasure, and that in the end is all that matters.
KNT0791 9 months ago
@KNT0791 Let's do this ONE step at a time as I would with a 5 year old child..show me where I said "Best" guitarist? Don't try that 4th grade straw man argument bullshit with me. So answer my question and we'll go from there.

@KNT0791 You're excused. Others are indeed better..5 things make a Great musician or Virtuoso.
1. Technique - Becks technique is as abundant as..the grey matter in your cranial cavity..very small.
2. Speed - Beck has the speed of a handicapped tortoise on ambiem
3. Creativity - We'll go ahead and give him this one..I wouldn't but just so you don't cry anymore.
4. Mastery - Complete mastery of his instrument..Beck? Bwaahahahahahaaaa
5. Deep Theory Knowledge - Beck? Please.
PinkyWontWork 9 months ago
@PinkyWontWork Beck has one and I'm being generous, of the requirements for a great musician. You or other yum-yums liking him does NOT equal him being talented. Taste has nothing to do nor is it an ingredient of great musicianship. No matter how many people like shit like rap or lady gaga..it will not mean they're talented.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the man sucks. Deal with it. You're one of those stoned 60 year olds aren't you? Since your feelings got hurt.
PinkyWontWork 9 months ago
@PinkyWontWork Your saying Jeff Beck sucks? Oh man. Get your head outta your ass. That dog won't hunt. By the way, it's spelled Ambien. And how can technique be of any ABUNDANCE. Dork. No artist in the fucking world would say Jeff Beck sucks. Plain and simple, like you.
chuckbyf1 9 months ago
@chuckbyf1 Let's take a look and break down Chuckby logic shall we? No artist would say lady gaga sucks but we all know she does. You really want to ask "h0WSz cANs TEKnIKES bE 0f aNY aBbUNDNCe"? Do you really want the biblical proportion type of schooling that question will create? Do you really want to be the ONE retard to ask how is Technique important in virtuosity (a trait that tells how good one is in MUSIC)? I'll give you a chance to take it back since you seem so sensitive.
PinkyWontWork 9 months ago
@PinkyWontWork technique is a trait defines how one controls the instrument... the instrument is not the music. You can have an intrument perfectly tuned, and finger it exactly, and be AWFUL. It has less to do with virtuousity, than a good ear. You take yourself, back.
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago
@PinkyWontWork Just give it up there Pinky. You know your wrong. Millions of people know your wrong. Give it up.
chuckbyf1 4 months ago
@PinkyWontWork These 5 things that Jeff hasn't got, maybe you have them, maybe other guitarists do have them. When Jeff Beck first touched a guitar, there were no training, teachers or study books for him. So he payed it his own way. Footballer Pele had no football teachers, training or studies - so he played it his own way. I say, if one person in the world finds Jeff's playing incredible, then he is incredible.
nickJod1234 8 months ago
@nickJod1234 I wonder what 5 things are referred to, here. I can't find the specific post. I feel VERY comfortable saying: Pinky is an idiot. He may hate JB, but his explaination falls short, when he attempts to justify himself. It truly isn't that Beck has no technique or convention. Or, that he isn't proficient. He is clearly 'radically' different, when he actually applies those things. The BEST guitarist? No. But who cares? He plays beyond the capacity of most, and UNIQUELY! J.McLaughlin? no?
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago
@MrATOMICBRAIN Honestly, I've never heard anyone play like him. He doesn't play like anyone else, and he doesn't follow a book. He doesn't play it how it is 'supposed' to be played. He doesn't stick with one genre. He may not do it 'like the best guitarist'. That doesn't mean he isn't great. If at least one person in the world thinks you are incredible, then you are in some way. Why am I trying to create an argument to support Jeff? Because there's a critic for everyone, even for Jeff.
nickJod1234 8 months ago
@nickJod1234 yep... and Pinky shouldn't think he can pawn off his BS. In Pinky's case, I feel comfortable in pointing out to him, that he merely appears resentful and bewidered, ( totaly self-promoting), with overt hostility and false sense of reality. He should be mulling over why HE can't allow ME the ability, to see the differences in the terms:construction, (the 'song'/melody), interpretation(the artist/time) and identity(technique applied). Pinky is a narcsssistic nimrod. Beck's inspiring
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago
@PinkyWontWork You found ONE requisite to musicianship? In any, mind you ANY note Beck uses, there will BE: Modality, dynamic, technique, harmony, melody, improvisation, overtones, harmonics, control, sensibility, function, precision, phrase, construction, interpretation, identity, and oh! I hear reality callin'? There is MORE you know? And I wasn't even started, on 'generous'.
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago
@MrATOMICBRAIN Wrong...those ARE the only requisites but don't take my word for it..dig up the past great ones and ask them for yourself. Try Mozart, he was a motherfucker when it came to that. By all means DO get started..you're splitting hairs as interpretation, identity (seriously?) and construction are basically the same thing. Precision would fall under TECHINIQUE as most of your other ones which I already named as being a must. See my previous post and pay attention this time.
PinkyWontWork 8 months ago
@PinkyWontWork Seriously. Jeff beck plays w/technique that is different from virtually anybody else, using the same conventions as anyone can. He is identifiable, as his techniques are highly refined convention. His phrasing is his own, tho he often dedicates his interpretations to have great attention to the composers construction. His precision is aimed at a broadly personal approach using specfic tecniques and various conventions, as he applies them. Learn what the words you use, mean, poser.
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago
@PinkyWontWork I really can't take your word for anything. You would have me corrupt the studied words of others, as you do? You are an idiot who likes to be a snob, and has stolen the words of science, misconstrued their meaning, and then gone on to misapply that to art, and THEN fabricated a dillusion that you could critique... wow... a nimrod who fancies himself an intellectual. But don't take my word for it! Talk to Mozart. You know, when you drinkcoffee w/him, again. Or is that kool-aid?
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago
@PinkyWontWork Clearification: Beck applies articulates guitar (accoustic/electric) and general musical conventions/technique in his own way. But all the considerations of tech/convention and STYLE are uniquely HIS applications, of the aforesaid REQUISITES, that you think you are talking about. I find no post from you in that regard (list of requisites), only shallow, inappropriate use of a couple vague inferences, and baseless opinion. You just hate Beck. And you can't say why, really.
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago 11
@MrATOMICBRAIN Man, what the flak did you just articulate? Are you stoned??? Phew...

youbetterbelievehah 3 weeks ago
@PinkyWontWork Mozart WAS a MF'r? Well now, a very astute observation, fleshed out delicately. Well played. You must be a genious. On piano, there are a scant few similarites in the way even a single a note is fabricated. That is a set of technique differences/considerations, of VAST importance. What Beck is manipulating is so different, with so many actually important tweekables at hand, technique-wise, that for him to play all those variables simultaneously, w/virtuousity is even MORE amazing,
MrATOMICBRAIN 8 months ago

Comparisons CAN be made, but they ultimately express only the taste of the guy doing the comparison. Who's better?- Tony Rice, Jim Hall, Jeff Beck? Nope. At some point the comparison becomes futile. When a musician becomes a master, becomes as good as it can get, it's not longer a question of who's better but who do I like better. Preferring one master to another - Sure. Hating one master compared to another - NFG. Beck is as good as it gets. Some people don't prefer him. Their loss.
