My bird herd the sound and looked up from the bowl with a seed in his mouth and looked very suprised xD he looked so cute! :Dand now he's answearing to it ^^
nice upload 9 minutes is a good length to loop the cockatiels I have thet don't respond as well to city bird recordings non cockatiel , well my birds will have all day today to get acquainted with your cockatiel
Im playing this to a cockatiel I am fostering at the moment. she is looking for a home and I feel sorry for her she is spending so much time without another bird as a company. Ive got lovebirds too, but they are not interested in each other. thanks for posting :)
I recently acquired 2 rescue cockatiels from the shelter. 1 sings a couple of songs & is older but the other is young & doesn't sing any recognizable songs. This video is great! They are freaking out listening to it. They are so happy! Thanks for posting this. I love the length because I don't have to keep hitting replay every minute!
play this almost everyday! it seems to really perk up my cockatiel! We got him two weeks ago so he's still adjusting but this seems to cheer him up quite a bit. Thanks for the post!!!
my cockatiel loved this video :p his looking at the big mirror trying to find the other cockatiel. He was singing back to the video but he stopped :p. I've had my cockatiel for 3/4weeks now but he doesn't trust me as much. theres been few improvements so thats good, I don't think the previous owner used to let him out the cage to fly or give him green food daily.
i have just acquired a cockatiel (adopted) he hissis and lunges at me. i have owned him for about 1 month. he lets me close to him now, where as before, he would fly away to the other side of his cage. he now likes to climb on the outside of his cage, but the hissing and lunging thing. will he ever be more friendly??
My cockatiel is new...and it's going crazy listening to yours...looking around to see where is the sound coming from lol...I want it to whistle or chirp away....but it does that occasionally... =/
Isn't the paint on that ladder toxic? I have never seen such non-toxic THICK paint. If it is non-toxic, please tell me where to get it for my birds' crafts. Thanks!
@vegbeauti I can't say for that ladder in particular, but it looks similar to one I have. It's not really painted so much as dyed with non-toxic dyes. The color runs if you get it wet. Regular food coloring should be just fine if you want to color some bird-safe items for him to play with!
@vegbeauti That one is store bought, but if your looking for non-toxic paint for a homemade bird toy, Stick with the non-toxic finger paint for little kids.
My Ozzie and Sassy are going crazy right now. I shall save this for them. Also my parakeets are singing along or trying to answer your cockateel. Thanks
@Guns1inger777 My one did too!! I've always equated the "growling" singing part to him having an argument/heated discussion with an imaginary friend...
I wonder what he's saying, too. My bird, Mr. Peabody, interacted with this vid. I've had other vids,he listened, but this one he got out of his cage and was really listening and singing. I repeat this vid to him about 3xs in a row, have done it yesterday and today, and he really seems to enjoy it.
@sexyfufutoo mine is a female and she cannot shut up!!!!!!! all day, theres a loud laughing noise coming from my room, and then shestarts singing. the laughing was her.
@Winterfeva Not to mention that in the wild-type males, they have a much more vibrant yellow face and cheek patches. Also, males have a solid color underneath their tail feathers and females have tail feathers with banding on them.
@Winterfeva Visually you can tell the difference by the underside of their tail. If it has bars across it, then it's a girl. But you can only tell this after first molt
Gregarious singing little bird. My female cockatiel, untamed, had a wonderful Australian song when she first came to us 5 years ago but within 2 weeks she sounded just like the croaky male, very tame, said "pretty bird" just like he does and has lost her Australian whang whang courting song. If she sings it again, I have a small recorder at the ready!
My bird loves chirping along!

I have had my cockatiel since 1983. Yes, 1983. Found him in my garage. I thought I was looking for a mouse. Out walks this yellow and gray cockatiel.
We mated him and he had several females. One lasted with him for 20 years before she died in 2005.
I never heard any of the females sing. I dont think they do.
bronco3250 1 year ago
@bronco3250 in rare cases females will sing, there are a few videos here on youtube that are females,

is this a female or male. mine looks IDENTICAL and i dont know the sex
Winterfeva 2 years ago
This is a male. You can tell the difference usually by if they whistle and sing a lot. Females tend to be more quiet. Hope that helps.
sexyfufutoo 2 years ago
you can also tell if the face is more yellow it is a male the lighter it is the more likly it would be a female
