@rioblanco Judging by Wayne's references to the melody and the hits at the end of video segment, it's almost definitely "Gingerbread Boy," a Jimmy Heath tune.
progressive for our time, but the extent they changed the thought process of music was ridiculous, cool bob was an epiphany on the music world, modes and structure, harmonies - and how people played their music and built off it, listen to t.j. kirk bye fuckers
herbie wins album of the year ..how great is that ..screw all the other nominees the right guy won and it is a triumph for jazz players and jazz lovers..the grammy's are basically a poularity contest..but tonight was sweet music to this man's ears..congrats herbie!
The irony here is that this radically innovative, virtuosity is emanating from guys in matching bow ties. These cats were so far ahead of what was happening at the time and still ahead of much of what is happening today.
I'm 33 year old. This era was hardly my time, but oh my God to watch these guys, and the likes of Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, players like Monk and bass players like Henry Grimes... It's truly an intoxicating experience.
Hey, dig that timeing change in this piece! Totally exhilarating and deep. Love it and thanks for posting so I can watch these masters over and over again.
the things I would do to go back in time and sit in that audience ...
