turtle tank with African cichlids

how long has your tank been running

some times it takes months for water to clear.

Are you using calcium carbonate( dead and crushed coral) for deco or sub strait or driftwood.

Sometimes this takes time to clear up the water with these things (since they alter water chemistry).

Also i do 50% water changes every week on a tank this populated

Hey Mike, you seem knowledgeable on the subject, could you let me know why I can't seem to obtain same water clarity in my 75 gallon tank despite using a eheim 2217 filter rated for 160 gallons? My tank isn't even full, its 3/4 of the way filled.

Seriously over stocked tank! The bio load from the turtles alone is huge, let alone that many fish! Ive got less fish in my 600ltr setup!

and it is a nutritious snack for the turtles lol

your tank is little for those number of animal.

@vatancephesi1 cichlids live in high concentrations in the wild

and if you look it up it is better to keep lots of African cichlids since it cuts down on aggression on any single fish

thats one of the reasons why i like to keep them

Cool to see, was thinking of giving an extra gephyrochromis fry I had to my friend w/ a turtle. Tank is not overstocked if you keep up the water changes... salvage knows whats up. The fins on the brichardi are lookin good.

usually a persons tank is a reflection of there experience

Please tell me you at least have a fish tank look at my reef tanks they are grossly overstocked also and have been running strong for over 2 years

I also run an aquarium maintenance and design company

so i know a little of what i can get away with

how long have you been keeping fish?

i have been keeping fish for over 15 years

all of those fish are my fry (babies)

and they have are still alive

you can break rules in the fish keeping hobby as long as you have good husbandry

i would not recommend these numbers with anything but African cichlids

they live in high concentration in the wild and high numbers cuts back on aggression towards each other

plus i do 25 to 40 % water changes every 3 days plus i have 10 times water turnover
