  • close grip my ass faggot

  • alot of people think bench pressing is where most of your strength is at. WRONG! look at kevin do some dead lifts then start talkin shit

  • Who cares about the title....close grip. Pretty nice 405 with a nice pause now matter how you look at it. I wish my pb was 405 instead of 385 with twice the form!!

  • @emlb who cares that you care, or even Don't care!!, I don't care, who cares what you care about does anyone care that you don't care about what ppl care about? Who cares if you don't care who cares?? MAMA !

  • I'm 6'1 275 pounds. My bench is about 330. Repping 225 for 18 reps. im 17. ok, so now that we certified i'm not small, that was not a close grip bench.

  • where is the close grip i dont see anyone but still strong respect

  • grip is just whats comfortable to anyone. thats obviously close for him, while it would be considered normal for me. my close grip leaves my hands about 8 inches apart. its all personal preference

  • thats not close grip

  • @LOGiiKo You could possibly be mentally challenged. Most athletes lift to get bigger and stronger. Which eventually will lead them to be successful in their sport. If some muscle is added while they are working hard in the weight room while your squeezing your $9.99 gripper from Dicks Sporting Goods so that you can grip your tennis raquet better thats not their fault. One word here guys....HATER

  • @LOGiiko there are tested divisions in powerlifting. For the most part the WPO is the only organization who chooses not to test whatsoever. And who are you to judge why people work out? It doesn't HAVE to be for a sport. Don't knock powerlifting just cause you can't lift heavy weight.

  • this is a fucking close grip, he breaks at the elbows and brings it down to his ribs, a close grip is all relative, he has a wide grip normally.

  • wait thats not close grip, thats neutral grip

  • @LOGiiKo, well I look at like this. When my girl friend tells me " I am so glad you are not small, skinny, and weak like that guy!" I add one point to powerlifting team. So you can try and say your doing it for athletics...but when it comes down to anything no matter girls or sports...both want the biggest and the strongest. sorry it is just like that.

  • This is a Med-grip or not a Close-grip .

  • im sorry the lifter is not in a close grip, his spoter is. the dude is a fucking beast tho

  • Who cares if he said close, wide, narrow, spread, short, or any other grip! The guy did 405x2 with pause, anyone want to correct him do it in a video with 405x2, Otherwise shut the heck up and go to the gym. Tired of all you nerds criticizing men who can lift more than you. Just watch it and appreciate it don't make excuses for you little arms.

  • well said jard

  • @jardineninja your very hostile

  • honestly that still is pretty wide to be considered a close grip press. However, there are two types of close grip; one is meant to increase the power of the lift and one is meant to target triceps rather than the chest. When people can close grip press (for triceps) as much as somebody who close grip presses for power that's damn impressive. Still, I'm sure kevin knows what he is doing he's one strong mofo.

  • I love when kids on youtube think they are cool when they criticize a PROFESSIONAL i think he knows what hes doing.

  • close grip is simply when your arms, when extended, are perpendicular to your body. any closer is bad for your wrists, so if you brag about close gripping with your hands touching you're just a dumbass.

  • You people are idiots. Take into consideration on how wide his shoulder are and how long his arms are. Id say thats a close grip for him. If you have little girl shoulders it might be wide for you.

  • Thats a pretty wide close grip.

  • thats not a close grip.

  • for as massivle strong as he is in every other lift i see him do he could not out bench me that is shocking bench must have always been his weak area wish i had near the deadlift power.

  • he benched 500lbs raw. im guessing this attempted close grip was near the end of his workout

  • where is Close grip ? That`s my Chest grip .

  • thats a longer grip than my chest bench press

  • my close-grip grip is shoulder-elbow-wrist in an angle that is perpendicular to the ground but if this is close for him keep cranking. resulst is what matters not what someone else says is right.

  • lol my close grip is about 6-10 inches apart so our ideas of close grip are a little different, that wouldn't work his triceps as much as his chest, but still amazing.

  • MY CLOSE GRIP IS HANDS TOUCHING. my regular grip is closer than this lol.

  • i tould you! :)

  • then ure doing it wrong.

    use shoulder width

  • hands touching what the fuck hahahaha

  • Guys, Kevin has gone to the freaking worlds strongest man contests for years in a row, do any of you all really think you can give him any "pointers"? That is a very impressive lift no matter what the grip is listed at.

  • MDW is 100 percent right. all the guys that think they know anything need to shut up cuz kevin knows what hes doing.

  • yea i wish he'd win one. the other guys are always bigger n more experienced.

  • Good Form and Range of Motion, But that's not a Close Grip Bench. More like a standard grip. Close grip is shoulder width or closer.

  • Standard grip is should width and pretty much anything inside of that is close-grip

  • maybe narrow grips would be a better description but still 2 nice strong reps nicely done.

  • too easy!!! haha

  • this isn't close grip. close grip means your arms are alot closer not spread apart.this is bench press works out the chest

  • When his hands apart thats called bench press, not close grip. close grip would mean ur hands are.....close

  • kevin nee is hitting my mom i know he is

  • he did those nice and slow you can tell he could do hell of a lot more then that.

  • yea it was really close grip look at the elbows

  • solid close grip..

  • Thats some heavy weight but i would expect someone who can deadlift 900lbs to be able to rep that out quite easily.

  • deadlift and bench press are 2 very different lifts

  • that wasn't really close grip

  • well on 2nd inspection it does look closer to a close grip than a regular grip .. the angle of the camera was throwing me off a bit .. I still stand by the faggity hissing gayness though

  • the gay hissing helps control your air release when you exhale, instead of letting all your air out at once... I don't do it all the time, but sometimes I do if I feel the need to

  • Great lift. I don't know what everyone is going on with about the grip...? That was a close grip, it's obvious the your hands are well inside the rings on the bar. A wide grip would be having your index fingers on the rings.

  • go and hit Kevin Nee then.

  • That was close grip, it all matters on how broad his shoulders are. If you are doing a close grip where your hands are almost together you are doing them wrong and could end up with a major injury.

  • beast.

  • Fuck

  • that wasnt that close of a close grip, i dont under stand how his lower body is so strong but his upper body is not as strong. his lower body is not as thick as his upper body eiter? 405x2 close grip is still impressive

  • Check out ericsapimp on here, 18yr !! 800lb raw dead, almost 800lb raw squat and 525lb raw bench at 260.

  • a lot of strongmen don't emphasize on bench press... it doesn't have much carry over for strongman events.. thats why he over head presses 350-400lbs... I can bench nearly as much as he can, and I sure as hell can't over head press 350-400lbs...

  • That is a close grip its about shoulder legnth. Any close your putting much strain on the wrists and risking potential injury. With being his size its kind of difficult doing close grip. He is keep his arms relatively close to his sides, but its really impossible to tell from the angle only one that can is him. He knows wut muscles its focusing.

  • agree that it wasn't a close grip, but it's still pretty heavy weight ;)

  • That wasnt a close grip.

  • regular grip

  • i mean 455

  • good attention to detail, but there aren't actually 25s on the ends, just scratches where the 25's sit.

  • looks more like 465 with 25's on the end but if you say its 405 i wont question it

  • isnt close grip supposed to be within the smooth part of the bar. btw nice bench

  • I guess it can be determined as any grip that's closer than shoulder width? But still that didn't look like it. Still strong as hell though.

  • ohh im not questioning his strength thats insane. thats was our standard grip like 2 years ago in highschool where the only thing that mattered was who could bench the most.I wonder is it the same in all high schools?

  • hahahaha, i love all the big internet monsters talking about what they can lift sitting behind their keyboards, classic.

  • I always get a good laugh out of it.

  • hits right around 400 in the new vid

  • take a look at the video list. i posted a new vid about 5 days ago. i have no idea who Arild Haugen is, and i can't speak for kevin.

  • if thats close grip i can do that shit

    videos comming soon

  • we are looking forward to it. please make sure we are the first to know.

  • close grip is hands shoulder width apart, this vid is way way of close grip.

  • thats not close grip, assholes. he tuck in his elbow thats all

  • for the haters this is a close grip bench. when you close grip bench you put ur hands chest width apart, and for him that was chest width

  • his clse grip is what i do on my wide grip days lol

  • you must be a small muff diver.

  • Sorry but thats not close grip, close grip means your forearms angle inward towards the inner pecs or straight up, his forearms are clearly angled outward. If you look at his other bench video u can see the grip is only a couple inches apart. This is called a medium grip.

  • at heavy weights with close grip it is impossible to do the "correct form" because all the weight hits ur wrists and balancing becomes impossible...ive seen alot of guys go narrower on their grip and keep their elbows tucked in and it hits their triceps just fine

  • I'd say this is close grip for him... look how his Elbows are up against his sides. I think everyone is thinking of really close grip, like the kind when hands are together.

  • Not close grip, standard bench press with pretty good form. Would love to show this vid to the idiots at my gym who go half way down with 250lbs and think they're hot stuff.

  • I know what you mean. I wish I could show some of the "big" lifters at my gym a video of Ronnie squatting or sumthing. This dude in my gym like to pile on in excess of 315 and literally barely bends his knees and apparently is doing squats.

  • That was not close grip.

  • remind me of arild haugen

  • I like the Big Show point he is one MASSIVE man. I wonder if he does any heavy lifting though.

  • hhmmmm , 405, i saw magnus samuelson do 385 for about 10 easy reps and his grip was a lot cloer than kevs .

  • and i just saw kevin do 500 with this grip for 1... what's your damn point?

  • STRENGTHWORKSGYM how heavy is kevin. Also i look at someone like the "bigshow" paul wight from the wwf who is 7"2 and round about 500 pounds. If he trained really hard wouldnt be in with a good chance of being the strongest man as he would dwarf all the other competitors though i do understand good technique is crucial aswell.

  • kevin weighs right around 280. you make an interesting point about guys like paul aka big show being capable of being the strongest man in the world due to his obvious size advantage. the problem is that there is a point of diminishing returns... i.e. the extra distane he would have to move any weight or implement in an event.

  • think about the extra distance he would have to cover in a log press or DL. it seems that past about 6'6" the guys drop off REALY fast. size and it's effects on conditioning would also play a part. good thoughts.

  • Damn, I saw him on true life a couple years ago and he only weighed 240ish, he put on alot of weight.

  • Don't try to downplay what Kevin's doing. However, I would tend to think Magnus Samuellson is stronger.
