Wrong again. Canadians can access private health care, jump any line and get a CT scan etc. You'll just have to pay for it like any uninsured American. This woman is a farse.
She neglects to say that the women with the quadrulplets didn't pay a cent for that treatment or transport and that the Foothills hospital in Calgary was over capacity with several unexpected pre-term births (not the usual situation) hence the term 'unexpected'. This is what you call not telling all the facts.
lol social run systems. So the 2 extra days she spent in the hospital would have saved her? The fact that her doctor said she should have a rectal exam should be a reflection on the doctor and their professional opinions rather than saying only American doctors practice preventative medicine and Canadian ones could care less. What an idiot.
I do somewhat agree with what she's saying but you have to consider the majority of the population who probably cant afford healthcare services. If someone can't afford heart surgery then what? let them die because they can't buy health care? the US healthcare system is just as flawed. But I still think Canada should offer public and private health care so the rich can use the private healthcare system while the waiting list for the less wealthy will be shorter.
@jeesssssssssss That's the thing, the waiting lists for less wealthy would not become shorter as a private system would pull away valuable resources over, ie docs and nurses to serve the wealthy few, leaving less of them to serve the many.
@willythewildwino First off, I believe neither country likes criticism of their country. Secondly, we didn't bring ourselves into the American healthcare debate, Americans brought us in by providing misleading information or outright lies about our system. The Cato Institute and Sally Pipes is a perfect example of this. YOu guys want to keep screwing over your countrymen, go for it, but don't justify your system by lying about ours. Its that simple.
@MadHabber93 No kidding, she is doesn't have an honest bone in her body, she should have pay for an American doctor to take a look, for $5000 dollars.
Unfortunately when it comes to medical care there is always someone ready to pick some examples that support their personal belief and trot them out as fact. This woman is a spokesperson for herself and others with USA health care just as ready to believe what they want to believe. If she were to consider the millions that don't have health care, and if she did some fact checking about Canada she would not speak so glibly about the superiority of the USA private medicash system for the rich.
Furthermore, her dumbass mother should have gone to ANOTHER DOCTOR! The GOVERNMENT didn't deny her the colonoscopy, it was her DOCTOR! And in Canada, unlike the US, we are allowed to get second or third or fourth opinions and choose our own doctor. I got a colonoscopy, within a week of seeing my GP, and everyone waiting in the doctor's office was very very old. This idiot could have saved a LOT of money in Canada had she used her freaking BRAIN!.Does she know ANYTHING about the Canadian system?
What a load of SHIT! I am stunned. First of all, you ignorant sow, Calgary is NOT the third largest city in Canada. ???? The wait list for hip replacement surgery is NOT 2 years. Canadians do NOT want two tiered health care, not because the government won't "let" them have it or because we don't want the "comparison" but because we don't think that the rich should have better health care than the poor, and that's what two tiered means. Every single point she made was a lie. Unbelievable.
What kind of bullshit propaganda is this? My father had been operated, in Vancouver Canada, with a quintal bypass within one day and with a stroke within one day and it did not cost him a buck. I had been operated with belly-hernia in a very timely manner and for free. I have also received MRI in Vancouver from a private provider "legally!" Why do Canadians live longer? Why Canadians do not want to change their "terrible" system? Because it works! She is a careerist bullshitter ! !
This bitch is the greatest liar in America. The greatest liar in the world! I've lived in Canada for fifty five years and absolutely love the health care system. If you need health care in a hurry in Canada, you get it. What freek'n branch of the republican party does this twisted mental midget belong to. Canadians spend their tax dollars on healthcare.Americans call that socialism; Americans spend their tax dollars on war..What the hell do we call that?
Lol, I'm 20 and I have already had 2 colonoscopies... I never asked for one, but they did them out of precaution. Wait... I'm from Canada and this video says that only happens in the US. I'm sooo confused!
Its right what she says about pet treatment vs human treatment . I can take my dog and pay 60$ up front to get full service almost immediately, and yet it took 2 months for my friend to get a cancer diagnosis. But thank god she made it through. Of course American HealthCare is already in a fascist state, profiting government and corporations . Ours is just way deeper
@RicoBoudreau What friend in what city and what kind of cancer?? Not all people can afford to pay even $60 to get their dog treated. At 19, you have a lot to learn. Canada has some of the best cancer survival rates on the planet, and that's for ALL citizens. Once you enter in a for profit model, a good percentage of the population just go without care. In 2010, 2 Million American cancer patients had to forgo further needed medical treatment because they couldn't affor it.
@MadHabber93 I hear yah. I still have much to learn. I just think medical care is something so important I dont think we should leave it to governments and complicit corporations
@RicoBoudreau if we don't let it to the governement or to corporations... then to whom should we let it? Governement socialised healthcare is the best option and it works in Canada and other western countries like Sweden.
Then why the hell is life expectancy in canada 80.7 years while in the U.S life expectancy is just 78.1 years? This is all bullshit! I love this country but the healthcare system is really fucked up! I am not able to get a health insurance because I have a pre-existing condition and last month they had to take me to the ER because I fell down the stairs and they had to do Xrays on me. At the end thank god I didn't have any broken bones but last week I received a bill of almost 4000 dollars!!!
@alfredocalza You see that's a problem. Many US citizens who votes agaisn't the socialised healthcare system vote agaisn't it because they have money and so don't want to wait. But some people in USA streets are dieing because they can't afford the system AT ALL. What is better, to wait 5 hours to get your treatement on your broken wrist or to not get the treatement at all?
All of her 'evidence' is anecdotal. Sure a person here or there gets bad medical advice/treatment - yet in her view, it never happens in a privatized system like the US has. The fact is under our system, Canadians live YEARS longer than Americans and we NEVER have to declare bankruptcy to pay for health care costs. The basic difference is that in the US, if you are wealthy, you can get great care, while everyone else fights over the scraps. Thanks but no thanks!
@bootlegga69 I agree with you, at least Canada does not have multi-millions of hardworking citizens that have NO healthcare and have to use the most expensive form of medical care available which is emergency room service which costs around hundreds for a prescription for anti-biotics or a shot to avoid blood poisioning or some much more serious illness when if they had HEATLH insurance they could get the same from a regular office call for a fraction of the cost to paying citizens.
She sounds like a nice lady but she is a liar. Isn't that terrible for me to say that? My Aunt was 89 years old when a routine blood test showed she had a low white blood cell count or low hemoglobin. She was scheduled for a colonoscopy in two weeks. The results showed cancer.She was then scheduled for surgery which she received three weeks later at LondonHealth Sciences.The tumor was removed, polyps were taken showing no advancement.100% successful
To say Alberta has no neonatal services is rather odd since this is the list of four major centers in the city. The Neo natal units in Alberta are; Alberta Childrens’ Hospital Calgary, Foothills Medical Centre Calgary, Peter Loughheed Center of Medicine Calgary, and The Rockyview General Hospital. Is she nuts or just working for some private insurance company that has zero reason to be invovled in the delivery of healthcare?
hey guys the canada system is the same as europe. So i live in Spain if you don't have money, you go to the social security hospitals. If you have money you pay your private ensurance and go to the private hospitals and you get your "quiality". It is easy to fool americans that's the answer. Everything is about money but really ask yourselves if don't have that amount of money what happens?
This video is complete bullshit. I should know, I live in Canada. America really needs to get out of its deluded little bubble where they think UHC doesn't work and there's a debate going on whether or not evolution is true. America needs to take a long hard look at the rest of the world.
from what i can tell CATO is a Republican think tank, is it any surprise they will lie through there teeth to get what they want. These people can not be trusted, its right wing propaganda at its worst. I would not be surprised to find out that CATO is funded or partly funded by the insurance industry.
Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada not Calgary, that alone makes this woman somewhat of an idiot, anecdotal evidence alone does not really prove anything, now i dont know why the neonatal care facilities were not available in vancouver, calgary or edmonton, but guess how much it cost her to get airlifted to montana, 0 dollars
@Thanato26 black market private healthcare providers. does that not happen? i've heard news reports of that too. it could be mass propaganda lol mainstream media loves that.
@darris321 No, it's true. Many people have gone to private clinics to get the care they need. Really sad when people have to break the law just to get healthcare.
Private clinics are technically illegal in Canada but some have found loopholes or just manage to fend off the courts.
@Thanato26 I am also a Canadian Citizen. There are problems in every system, but I think that most people in Canada are happy with our healthcare. This lady has all kinds of anecdotes, but she's also got a LOT of false information. If one actually looks at statistics (that include all people and not just those with enough money to pay for care) we have better care hands down.
This is so annoying. She relays anecdotes, which are clearly objectionable, and then concludes that these few cited cases prove socialised health care doesn't work.
All the empirical evidence on the otherhand demonstrates the opposite.
Their are failures in every system, the free market system in America produces untold misery for 1000s of people, and their are 100's of anecdotes of people not getting care because it was denied by the insurance company.
@evilstormsam america doesn't have a free market system. we have a semi social system. we need to make up our god damned minds lol
the socialist side of our system drives up the prices for the capitalist side which causes us to want more socialism but it really could work either way lol
my common argument against government run healthcare is what happened in Greece. The doctors were amputating instead of giving longterm treatment to diabetics because it's cheaper.
What is so wrong about having the option? That is what I can not understand. In American you can still choose to use the government health program or stay with a private institution. What are these people so afraid of?
How much was this bitch paid by the Health Insurance companies in the U.S.
My father and grandmother(83) waited two days for a hip replacement, and after all the post operation theropy the total cast to our family was about $45 ea. (for parking)
@TheInternetWanderer yes, but it probably costed 10k dollars for others. You think money just grows on tree? I bet cato institude is not that all for much health insure. I would say less insurance, and radically liberate the health care industry.
The President never said anything about cutting specialty units he said cutting the cost by forcing insurance companies to pick up the tab as they should instead of cherry picking the most healthy people though out the country. This is health insurance reform not health care reform. Man i tell you the smarter people are the more stupid they sound people want health care that makes the quality of life better.
I'm a canadian. I would not want to have to rely on the american health care system, BUT.... Canada's is just as bad for a whole different set of reasons. And of course, many canadians will praise their system because 1. They are too ignorant to realize how much they are paying for their system. (Just borrow and leave the bill to your children right?) 2. They are not a health care worker. Our hospitals are way understaffed here. 3. They have not been screwed over by the system... yet.
Most Americans probably do not even know that Britain has a much bigger population than the one in Canada. It's amazing that some Americans are wasting time looking at the system in Canada. If Americans really want to learn from others, they need to look at the models in those countries with much bigger populations. That's a much more realistic comparison. I'm just saying. I am so disgusted by how stupid some Americans are.
Gotta love it when some pompous thinktank tool gets up on the podium and starts proclaiming what "Americans want".... really? You asked them all? There was a comprehensive and controlled survey? A referendum, perhaps?
In Canada 90 - 95 % of significant injuries & insurance interests are deliberately misdiagnosed & not treated or compensated. They use stereotypical clinical code/commentary to classify & render injured workers & auto accident patient claimants. This undermines the principles of universal healthcare.
Canada was a testing ground for this Medical New York Shell game.
We are treated as bad as or worse than livestock in our 'universal' healthsystem, yet 85% of Canadian public doesn't know it;
just as a CANADIAN I just don't get it,...WHY are the patients who need surgery being DENIED the UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE they so desperately need. Canadians are so ignorant and oblivious to whats happening right under their noses it's rather sickening and down-right FRAUDULENT; and PROVES that CANADIAN'S PAY TAXES AND GET NO MEDICAL CARE,then are forced to go to were-ever;out of country because of all the CORRUPTION, try paying off your doctor in CANADA if you need medical care,
The Canada Health Act Discriminates Against Injured
Workers By Excluding Them From "Access To Health Services Without Financial Or Other Barriers" By Excluding "Any Health Services That A Person Is Entitled To And Eligible For Under Any Act Of The legislature Of A Province That Relates To Workers' Or Workmen's Compensation" And That This Leaves Injured Workers Vulnerable To Wrongdoing By The Workers Compensation System
Um, this woman, along with 3 others, was exposed as having received compensation from U.S right-wing/certain U.S insurance companies to publicly speak out against Canadian healthcare, and later, actually confessed to having made up her story and being told exactly what to say. One of the other ones lied about having to pay huge amounts of money for a procedure, when it was revealed that the whole thing was billed to the government of Ontario...
I have lived in canada all my life and have never heard of anything like this happening. But for her to have 2 people in her family to have had these things happen is truly unbelievable to the point that no one should probably believe her
I have lived in canada all my life and have never heard of anything like this happening. But for her to have 2 people in her family to have had these things happen is truly unbelievable to the point that no one should probably beleive her

American plan, wait and wait, and die = 110,000 Americans die every year due to lack of health care. 2500 people die on 9/11, that justifies military spending of 7.6 trillion dollars. Americans dieing of preventable illness we somehow find acceptable? Geez woman, I lost track of your lies at about 2:02 into your little "film".

MadHabber is a useless fucking liar and a NWO MINION, these videos of the Canadian Health care system are true, people are dying due to NWO depopulation program;
watch the burzinski movie, All governments are controlled by the global elite who are nothing but a bunch of criminals; Look up Agenda 21, Green Global Elite, Haarp,
Chemtrails, 911 truth, your all being led to the slaughter, wake the fuck up before it's to late,
I'm Israeli, friend. I wouldn't say it's more dangerous. The crime in Israel (if you exclude terrorist attacks), is absolute bliss compared to what we see in the US.
Sure they can come to the U.S. as an option and get taken care of and live a "long and healthy life"...along with a huge bill and a doctor who is more concerned about the finances of his hospital rather than the patient...It doesn't matter what side you're on about this, I think we can all agree that it's wrong for a doctor to choose between finances and a patients well being...iv'e been denied certain treatments/tests in the emergency room because my lack of health insurance...
SHAME on her for lying this way. She lists some good things about the u.s. system (yes there are a few) & then says nothing but horrible things about ANY other country, especially Canada. These LONG waiting lines stories have been proven to be just embellished. We are in NJ & have to wait to see our dr. every time. We have been to other countries and had it far easier. Listen to her 'stories' here & notice how many x she compares Liberal vs. Republican - that is her agenda & NOT the truth
"Embellished?" I don't think so. Maybe those who claim that the majority of the country's citizens die on waiting lists is an embellishments, but there are many accounts of people suffering under it. There's no question about it.
That's okay Sally. Now that you're now American, statistically your life expectancy is now a couple of years less than a Canadian's. We will spend those extra years laughing at your bullshit propaganda.
So you're saying life expectancy isn't a measure? You should do your research. Also, what about that infant mortality that's significantly higher in the U.S. Propaganda?
Life expectancy has to do with external factors like homicide, car accidents, natural disasters, etc. It has nothing to do with the quality of the healthcare system.
@regelemihai Please enlighten us with your sources backing this up. One of many from mine is healthzone.ca/health/newsfeatures/article/898400--healthcare-efficiency-increases-life-expectancy-oecd
This is common sense, sir; it has nothing to do with sources. Life expactancy is a measure of MANY factors; not of one.
But nontheless, if you want to focus strictly on medical outcomes: 1.Arduino Verdecchia et al., "Recent cancer survival in Europe : a 2000–02 period analysis of EUROCARE-4 data," Lancet Oncology, 2007, No. 8, pages 784–796.
Again, you're mistaken. "Well being" is also not a measure of a healthcare system. We have one of the world's biggest obsesity rates. That has to do with personal choices. The only releavnt data is the survival rate of people that are treated in a given system, and the US trumps Canada in many cancer survival rates, and outpatient procedures. I would give you a pelthora of sources, but YT doesn't let me.
@regelemihai It's interesting that the OECD Better Life Index ranks Canada above the US regarding Well being. You can't just look at cancer survival rates and outpatient procedures.
I had a close friend in Illinois who died of cancer in his mid thirties. It wasn't detected in time because he couldn't get health care coverage. Once he was really ill and it was discovered, Medicaid kicked in. Then, too late. He would have lived in CDA.
Your insistence on pushing this fallacious reasoning doesn't help your case. "Better life" or "well being" are not striclty a measure of healthcare treatment! It simply doesn't follow. The only thing that does count is the outcome generated after being treated in a given system. That is the only thing that can show a direct causation.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend; I really am. But using anecdotes won't help you. I have a boatload of them myself.
@regelemihai I would beg to differ. I'm still waiting for your studies that DON'T directly link health care to life expectancy. Here's another: msnbc.msn.com/id/20228552/ns/health-health_care/t/us-ranks-just-nd-life-expectancy/
Studies that prove a negative? I'd say you should revise your methodology. My studies prove CONCLUSIVELY that the US has better healthcare outcomes than Canada, and a large part of Europe's nations. These studies are peer reviewed, and not some articles from MSNBC.
By the by, do yourself a favor and actually READ the links you give me. At the bottom, this piece echoes exactly what I've been telling you: there are many factors that determine the life expectancy, including obesity and crime...
@regelemihai So why are you ignoring the fact that the lack of medical insurance contributes to a lower life expectancy? If you don't give a crap about 45 million who don't have health coverage, I feel really sorry for you.
US has better health outcomes, for those who can pay for it. I have a better health outcome than my cohort who died of cancer in Illinois. I get treatment and I won't go broke. And as a user, it's still first class.
" If you don't give a crap about 45 million who don't have health coverage."
I do indeed care about them. If we had a freer system that allows for competition, prices would fall and anyone could afford it. However, the 45 million figure is a bit misleading. When you take out the illegals, those who can afford covergae but don't buy it, and those who are elligible for medicare but don't apply, you get around 20 million; which is nothing to marvel at, but still.
I hope you benefit from your coverage. I would like to see reform, but I dislike this black and white distinctions that are often drawn between the US and other countries. All have benefits, many have problems.
For some reason YouTibe won't let me post all of the other links I have regarding the statistical data.
There are many, though, incuding from the Lancet Oncology, and the Bureau of economic research, as well as from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Canadian Cancer Society&National Cancer Institute of Canada, that all support the opposite conclusion.
im from greece,the truth is that socialist health care systems have waiting lines,they are hugely missmanaged(unions,politicians)and they coast greatly,the good thing is that you are going to be treated for"free"and if your situation is crusial you will be trated immidietly!I always have fun with the incopetance of public workers when i go for a job that is related with public(hospial,university,bills,taxation and stuff)but it could really be a pain in the ass some time!!a teacher demands bribe!
@Ibringthetruth1 I always love it when some ignorant ass American, whose probably never been to Canada, let alone a Canadian hospital, feels they know whether we have 'quality' healthcare.
Again, there are NO wait times for urgent care. Telling me we wait longer for hip surgery vs. someone in the States WITH insurance means fuck all. Waiting FOREVER because you can't afford it means everything.
@MadHabber93 You ASSHOLE...you coult not possibly have listened to this lady. Her MOTHER DIED IN A VANCOUVER Hospital from Colon Cancer because you ingnorant fking canadians would not provide her a colonoscopy because she was old and even when she was bleeding from her rectum !
@parks0213 Listen you IGNORANT FUCK. I work in the Pharma in the area of Gastroenterology, NO person in Canada is EVER denied a colonoscopy because of age EVER. Unless they are just too old to handle the procedure. Sally Pipes IS throwing you horseshit and you are buying it, hook, line and sinker. She even admits she eventually got the colonoscopy. How can that be if we deny based on age?? Answer: We don't. Pipes is full of shit. Maybe her family doctor is an idiot, but that's it.
@MadHabber93 HEY SHIT FOR BRAINS...I work for HHS in the USA. Canadian Health Care has been studied thoroughly and the facts are in...it SUCKS. Far too many Canadians come to the USA for Health Care when any serious health issue is suspected. They come here for diagnosis and treatment. rather that wait for ages and die because it becomes too late for effective treatment in Canada.
@parks0213 Gee, do you have a study to back up that a lot of Canadians go south for Care?? Thought not. Its a myth. Read the STUDY Phantoms in the Snow, which concluded Canadians going south for Care is Tip with no Iceburg. SHow me one study where Canadians die waiting for care. Just one. Save your time, NONE exist. Unlike the 45,000 Americans that die EVERY FUCKIN YEAR due to lack of access to care due to cost. Spare me what you THINK about our care.
@MadHabber93 ... watch the burzinski movie you fucking MORON, we are being exterminated by your NWO government, everytime i see you spew lies i know that you don't have a fucking brain; Canadians are dying waiting for care, i have already proved it to you but you just pretend it isn't true;
@FIXWCBCANADA You proved nothing sunshine. Look up the term anecdotal evidence you fuckin nut job. You are nothing but a conspiracy theory junky that NO doctor wants to deal with. You are a sad little man, that needs to lose about 75 pounds and stop yanking your junk to gay porn every night. Its ok to be gay. Just come out of the closet already.
@parks0213 And if our care 'sucks', as you say, why do polls show that 85% of Canadians are satisfied with their care, and 90% support our system and would NEVER want a for profit, insurance run system that you have.
Tell you what, I'll put my money where my mouth is. Hop on a plane & fly over to see me. I'll show you around the hospitals. Let you speak to docs, nurses, etc.
I always love it when an American, whose probably never stepped foot in a hospital here, tell us that our care sucks.
@parks0213 ..u tell that fucking nwo minion, MadHabber; he is a plant to try to HIDE THE TRUTH;
It took 100 Canadian Doctors 5+ years to diagnose my 2nd spinal injury, 28 Canadian Doctors 2 years to diagnose my broken back; 30 months wait for 1st MRI; Canada is all about denial if there are insurance interests with significant injury;
@MadHabber93 Of course Americans are stupid. Some liberals in the US won't stop this Canadians having free health care bullshit. For God's sakes, Canadians are TAXED (quite heavily) to support this system. And now liberal parasites think that this system can be made free for everyone. In Canada, if you cut your fingers, and you go to the emergency room at night, most likely you will be asked to come back the next day when the staff're not as busy. WHINY Americans will never tolerate that.
@ttiiyy A. Our taxes are not much more than yours. Combine your taxes with your premiums, co-pay and deductibles, you pay WAY more than us for crappier coverage. And B. the fact you think we would have to wait the next day to replace a cut finger just shows how ignorant you are of our system. We would not tolerate it either. I broke my finger, went to the ER, was evaluated, x-rayed, splinted and out the door in 1 hour. I would have been seen sooner for a severed finger.
@MadHabber93 - America pends more on healthcare than Canada, both a per-capita basis and as a percentage of GDP. Their system isn't perfect, but trying to introduce a state-run socialist healthcare system for 330 million people is next to impossible. Canada's healthcare system, while still very good, ranks 37th in the world behind the likes of Morocco, Columbia and Iceland. As for a "two-tier" healthcare system, its OK to have private clinics for abortion but not for eye and hip surgery?
@bgibb101 That ranking was based on the WHO report, a very flawed and now outdated report. It didn't even take life expectancy, or survival rates of diseases into account.
And the Canadian system is not 'state run' but state insurance financed. I didn't say for the States to take our system.
And in Canada, abortion clinics might be privately run, just like every clinic in the country, but its provincially financed.
@MadHabber93 - Canada is still way behind in the rankings. I've been all over the world and have seen first-hand the outstanding hospital services of Switzerland, France and Austria. Anyway, I needed a C-scan here and didn't want to wait 18 months, so I shelled out the $800 and got it done in a week. Same with surgery for a crippling lower back pain (ruptured disc). So I paid for spinal decompression treatment rather suffer another three years in pain waiting for a bloody operation.
@bgibb101 a CT scan? 18 months?? Total B.S. Posted wait times for CT scans in Ontario for example have average waits of less than 30 days. I waited 10 days myself for a non-urgent case.
Canada has some of the best disease treatment results, not to mention some of the best cancer survival rates on the planet. FOr everyone. Not just the one's that can afford the treatment. THe WHO did NOT take any of those into account.
@bgibb101 Ranks in what categories? Averaged across all categories? Canada's ranks much higher than Americas in terms of patient outcomes for most patients, but it's true, America is the land where if you can afford it you can get the world's best health care. Some things you shouldn't be able to buy, however.
@darris321 You wouldn't be denied emergency care, that is true, but a hospital or doctor is not obligated to treat chronic diseases like cancer, etc. That is why, according to a British Medical Journal Study, 2 Million Americans had to forgo needed cancer treatment due to cost in 2010. No pay, no treatment. That's just a fact. Many people can't get that loan to get treatment, so essentially, they are denied due to inability to pay. They just don't go to the hospital.
@darris321 My friend down in Texas was denied care for his back problem and he had insurance, they delayed it so long the problem got worse. instead of fixing his disks that were causing the pain, they just destroyed the nerves so he would not feel the pain anymore. That would have never happened up here, they would have fixed his disks right way, because the best outcome is more important then the cost up here.
@Fireflygamer Did you see my comment about Greece? They were amputating people instead of doing longterm treatment because the cost was more important than the outcome.
With public outrage it stopped, but that would NEVER happen in a system where you choose.
I sort of like the Dutch system because it doesn't kill competition. The Canadian system does. Only state hospitals are allowed.
@darris Only State hospitals are allowed in Canada? Dude do some research. The vast majority of hospitals in Canada are PRIVATE not for profit hospitals with some private for profit clinics. How does limiting for profit insurance stifle competition? Competition between what? Insurance companies? They don't provide care, hospitals & doctors do. I want my doctors working together to find healthcare solutions, not against each other. We take the profit out of insurance companies NOT the system.
@MadHabber93 working against each other finds solutions and once they're found they are open to everyone so they are also working together, they are just racing towards the solution rather than meandering. this is caused by the profit motive.
@darris321 Doctors get paid by both system the same way, fee for service. The profit is being paid to treat you. We eliminate the profit from the insurance industry whose prime directive is profit, regardless of your health outcome. Profit coming from medical innovation is still very prevelant in our system.
If a doctor finds a more innovative way to say, fix your knee, he is far more apt to keep that to himself in your system thereby benefiting their own patient and not all.
@thedumpsterbabys Spoken like a true Americana, I really hope that you never get cryonicly ill, because you will learn first hand that the insurance companies will drop you as fast as they can and they have lots of loop holes to do it. Unless your very rich, you and your family will lose everything trying to keep you alive and one day the money will run out. then you will be one of those people that the system lets fail, I wonder if this ever happens to you, if you will change your tune or not.
@thedumpsterbabys LMFAO, yes I watched the video, you see I am Canadian I have lived under the Canadian health care system all my life and I would not give it up for 20 million dollars. This woman in the video is twisting the truth or out right lying in order to scare you. even the best insurance plans have loop holes to limit the insurance companies risks so they can drop people if they become to costly. I Canada if you need treatment you get it, sure there are wait times but...
@thedumpsterbabys cont... but the more urgently need the care the sooner you will get it. Sure you might have to wait 6 months to a year to get your hip replaced, but if you need life saving surgery you get it right way. My dad need life saving surgery & they had him under the knife with in 4 hours and they had to fly this world class specialist in from Montreal. so you really have no idea what the system is like up here if you are listening to propaganda like this video.
@MadHabber93 Dude your fucking amazing you spook for all of us Canadian's all these ignorant American's talking so much crap about canada it just gets me so angry
this is bull shit, this woman never lived in canada. the words coming out of this woman's mouth is copletly false. I rather have free healthcare then pay. You don't have to wait to long and canadians have a longer live span than americans. If your poor or rich in canada yo are treated the same as anybody else.
I posted a web page titled "Conservative, Liberal or Neither" by JJ Rousso
You will be surprised (or not) learning whom both leading parties represent.
It is on the same blog as below.
If you are interested to an entirely different perspective....then just Google search "The History of Banking Fraud - Short Inspiring Stories by Bill Woollam"
or google "Corporate Executives Deny 57 Million Americans Healthcare - by Bill Woollam"
Both private and public healthcare can work effectively. There are limitations and advantages to both. (ex: questionable insurance practices versus longer waiting times) Totally denying the viability of one or the other just makes you look like a twat. I'm currently living in Canada and have been extremely pleased with the level of healthcare service I've been provided.
Americans have been lied to. I compiled a blog titled "Corporate Executives Deny 57 Million Americans Healthcare - by Bill Woollam" Just Google that.
The US health care system is one of the worst in the world and has been compromised by the US Administration, the Health Insurance and Management Offices, and American Medical Assoc.
Canada, Britain, France and Cuba have hassle free, debt-free, comprehensive, universal health plans where every citizen receives health care with no added costs
@Ibringthetruth1 Why would we come down there for jobs??? What jobs?? Our unemployment rate is lower than yours and we are creating more jobs here. You can go on about 'voodoo doctors' and 'communist'. Do yourself a favor and pick up a Canadian newspaper or maybe something called a BOOK, and learn about our economic system. Something that even your right wing think tank, The Heritage Foundation, rates higher in freedom than your system. Dipwad!!
@Ibringthetruth1 So you read it. I guess it reveals that we are leading in GDP growth and job growth. ANd no, I work in pharma. I support Private enterprise and universal healthcare for EVERYONE, not just those who can afford it.
I know what wait times and more than happy to provide studies and reports, not newspaper articles.
For how cheap our system is? Never said healthcare is cheap, its expensive in EVERY country dipwad. We still spend less & cover all.
Doctors in Canada don't pay for malpractice insurance due to GOVERNMENT PROTECTION so they don't have to worry about making mistakes in Canada;
and when they do make mistakes they don't have to worry as government protects them because they own the Justice system;
I bet many doctors return to Canada to escape malpractice lawsuits in America;
In Canada good luck getting medical care when the government controls everything; Good luck getting medical care in this wait listed and HITLER regime
@FIXWCBCANADA Another one of your incorrect statements. Doctors in Canada DO have malpractice insurance and get ZIPPO for gov't protection on lawsuits.
@MadHabber93 ....OH AND WHO DUE YOU THINK ARRANGED THE CMA TO PAY ALL THOSE DOCTORS MALPRACTICE INSURANCE; The federal government influences health insurance by virtue of its fiscal powers - it transfers cash and tax points to the provinces to help cover the costs of the universal health insurance programs. Under the Canada Health Act, the federal government mandates and enforces the requirement that all people have free access to what are termed "medically necessary services
One reason why the Canadian healthcare system has problems is because our doctors are moving to the United States. The Canadian Medical Association needs to do a better job of paying them their worth so we are healthier.
@sweiland75 Actually, the last 5 years has seen more docs returning to Canada, then going over to the States. Docs in Canada are compensated extremely well for their job, with a physician now being the highest paid profession on average in Canada.
@sweiland75 ...i have seen some very good doctors surgeons leave Canada and go south because they cannot doctor patients due to GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT;
In the USA at least they can get a MRI or pet scan for their patients to find out the reason for their patients complaints;
HITLER would have been proud of HARPER because he is killing thousands of people with his agenda 21 depopulation program to bring world population down;
If you use the Canadian healthcare system as a model for what would be perfect for Americans then you will fail every time. Not because there is something wrong with the Canadian healthcare system, but because it is a system made for Canada, not America. A universal healthcare system, for Americans, has to be made in America.Applying the Canadian healthcare system to Americans is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
just as a CANADIAN I just don't get it,...WHY are the patients who need surgery being DENIED the UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE they so desperately need. Canadians are so ignorant and oblivious to whats happening right under their noses it's rather sickening and down-right FRAUDULENT; and PROVES that CANADIAN'S PAY TAXES AND GET NO MEDICAL CARE,then are forced to go to were-ever;out of country because of all the CORRUPTION;
UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE IS CANADA`S BIGGEST LIE, then you die.......
In Canada 90 - 95 % of significant injuries & insurance interests are deliberately misdiagnosed & not treated or compensated. They use stereotypical clinical code/commentary to classify & render injured workers & auto accident patient - claimants. This undermines the principles of universal healthcare.
Canada was a testing ground for this Medical New York Shell game.
We are treated as bad as or worse than livestock in our 'universal' health'system, yet most of the public doesn't know it.
Fenwick’s report revealed that the patient “Christopher,” changed name, had gone to numerous doctors and specialists in Saskatchewan for getting treated his migraine headache, vision loss and low blood pressure but all went in vain. Then at Mayo clinic in US he was diagnosed with the brain tumour and was offered to get his surgery done within few days. He then went under surgery there as he had not been treated in his own country, Canada
just as a CANADIAN I just don't get it,...WHY are the patients who need surgery being DENIED the UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE they so desperately need. Canadians are so ignorant and oblivious to whats happening right under their noses it's rather sickening and down-right FRAUDULENT; and PROVES that CANADIAN'S PAY TAXES AND GET NO MEDICAL CARE,then are forced to go to were-ever;out of country because of all the CORRUPTION, try paying off your doctor in CANADA if you need medical care,
Wrong again. Canadians can access private health care, jump any line and get a CT scan etc. You'll just have to pay for it like any uninsured American. This woman is a farse.
Goremaster 3 days ago
She neglects to say that the women with the quadrulplets didn't pay a cent for that treatment or transport and that the Foothills hospital in Calgary was over capacity with several unexpected pre-term births (not the usual situation) hence the term 'unexpected'. This is what you call not telling all the facts.
Goremaster 3 days ago
lol social run systems. So the 2 extra days she spent in the hospital would have saved her? The fact that her doctor said she should have a rectal exam should be a reflection on the doctor and their professional opinions rather than saying only American doctors practice preventative medicine and Canadian ones could care less. What an idiot.
Goremaster 3 days ago
I do somewhat agree with what she's saying but you have to consider the majority of the population who probably cant afford healthcare services. If someone can't afford heart surgery then what? let them die because they can't buy health care? the US healthcare system is just as flawed. But I still think Canada should offer public and private health care so the rich can use the private healthcare system while the waiting list for the less wealthy will be shorter.
jeesssssssssss 6 days ago
@jeesssssssssss That's the thing, the waiting lists for less wealthy would not become shorter as a private system would pull away valuable resources over, ie docs and nurses to serve the wealthy few, leaving less of them to serve the many.

the difference between Americans and Canadians? americans can take criticism of their country, Canadians cannot.
Why do Canadians give a shit what kind of health care Americans have? Its not your country, leave it alone.
willythewildwino 2 weeks ago
@willythewildwino First off, I believe neither country likes criticism of their country. Secondly, we didn't bring ourselves into the American healthcare debate, Americans brought us in by providing misleading information or outright lies about our system. The Cato Institute and Sally Pipes is a perfect example of this. YOu guys want to keep screwing over your countrymen, go for it, but don't justify your system by lying about ours. Its that simple.

This idiot could have saved a LOT of money in Canada had she used her freaking BRAIN!.Does she know ANYTHING about the Canadian system?
temporaryheaven 3 weeks ago

RicoBoudreau 1 month ago
@RicoBoudreau What friend in what city and what kind of cancer?? Not all people can afford to pay even $60 to get their dog treated. At 19, you have a lot to learn. Canada has some of the best cancer survival rates on the planet, and that's for ALL citizens. Once you enter in a for profit model, a good percentage of the population just go without care. In 2010, 2 Million American cancer patients had to forgo further needed medical treatment because they couldn't affor it.

graemeEf1 3 months ago
All of her 'evidence' is anecdotal. Sure a person here or there gets bad medical advice/treatment - yet in her view, it never happens in a privatized system like the US has. The fact is under our system, Canadians live YEARS longer than Americans and we NEVER have to declare bankruptcy to pay for health care costs. The basic difference is that in the US, if you are wealthy, you can get great care, while everyone else fights over the scraps. Thanks but no thanks!
bootlegga69 3 months ago
@bootlegga69 I agree with you, at least Canada does not have multi-millions of hardworking citizens that have NO healthcare and have to use the most expensive form of medical care available which is emergency room service which costs around hundreds for a prescription for anti-biotics or a shot to avoid blood poisioning or some much more serious illness when if they had HEATLH insurance they could get the same from a regular office call for a fraction of the cost to paying citizens.

Base your healthcare system on facts!
evilstormsam 5 months ago
@evilstormsam america doesn't have a free market system. we have a semi social system. we need to make up our god damned minds lol
the socialist side of our system drives up the prices for the capitalist side which causes us to want more socialism but it really could work either way lol
my common argument against government run healthcare is what happened in Greece. The doctors were amputating instead of giving longterm treatment to diabetics because it's cheaper.

And of course, many canadians will praise their system because 1. They are too ignorant to realize how much they are paying for their system. @jaybaye
8, pages 784–796.
regelemihai 8 months ago
@regelemihai This study has nothing to do with whether these cancers lowered life expectancy in Europe.
By the way, common sense typically comes from knowledge. I have articles linking life expectancy to health care. Please show me yours.
Risk factors such as disasters and murder do contribute to life expectancy but it's minuscule compared to the health and wellbeing of people.
I'm still waiting for your research that health care doesn't contribute to life expectancy.
jaybaye 8 months ago
@jaybaye

I had a close friend in Illinois who died of cancer in his mid thirties. It wasn't detected in time because he couldn't get health care coverage. Once he was really ill and it was discovered, Medicaid kicked in. Then, too late. He would have lived in CDA.
jaybaye 8 months ago
Your insistence on pushing this fallacious reasoning doesn't help your case. "Better life" or "well being" are not striclty a measure of healthcare treatment! It simply doesn't follow. The only thing that does count is the outcome generated after being treated in a given system. That is the only thing that can show a direct causation.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend; I really am. But using anecdotes won't help you. I have a boatload of them myself.
regelemihai 8 months ago
@regelemihai I would beg to differ. I'm still waiting for your studies that DON'T directly link health care to life expectancy. Here's another: msnbc.msn.com/id/20228552/ns/health-health_care/t/us-ranks-just-nd-life-expectancy/
jaybaye 8 months ago
Studies that prove a negative? I'd say you should revise your methodology. My studies prove CONCLUSIVELY that the US has better healthcare outcomes than Canada, and a large part of Europe's nations. These studies are peer reviewed, and not some articles from MSNBC.
By the by, do yourself a favor and actually READ the links you give me. At the bottom, this piece echoes exactly what I've been telling you: there are many factors that determine the life expectancy, including obesity and crime...
regelemihai 8 months ago
...rates. Please learn the distinction.
regelemihai 8 months ago
@regelemihai So why are you ignoring the fact that the lack of medical insurance contributes to a lower life expectancy? If you don't give a crap about 45 million who don't have health coverage, I feel really sorry for you.
US has better health outcomes, for those who can pay for it. I have a better health outcome than my cohort who died of cancer in Illinois. I get treatment and I won't go broke. And as a user, it's still first class.
jaybaye 8 months ago
" If you don't give a crap about 45 million who don't have health coverage."
I do indeed care about them. If we had a freer system that allows for competition, prices would fall and anyone could afford it. However, the 45 million figure is a bit misleading. When you take out the illegals, those who can afford covergae but don't buy it, and those who are elligible for medicare but don't apply, you get around 20 million; which is nothing to marvel at, but still.
regelemihai 8 months ago
I hope you benefit from your coverage. I would like to see reform, but I dislike this black and white distinctions that are often drawn between the US and other countries. All have benefits, many have problems.
regelemihai 8 months ago
For some reason YouTibe won't let me post all of the other links I have regarding the statistical data.
There are many, though, incuding from the Lancet Oncology, and the Bureau of economic research, as well as from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Canadian Cancer Society&National Cancer Institute of Canada, that all support the opposite conclusion.

The US system may not be cheap but the quality is there.
We need more competition and price transparency:Less people using HC insurance on minor issues and more price shopping.

They come here for diagnosis and treatment. rather that wait for ages and die because it becomes too late for effective treatment in Canada.
parks0213 7 months ago
@parks0213 Gee, do you have a study to back up that a lot of Canadians go south for Care?? Thought not. Its a myth. Read the STUDY Phantoms in the Snow, which concluded Canadians going south for Care is Tip with no Iceburg. SHow me one study where Canadians die waiting for care. Just one. Save your time, NONE exist. Unlike the 45,000 Americans that die EVERY FUCKIN YEAR due to lack of access to care due to cost. Spare me what you THINK about our care.

FIXWCBCANADA 7 months ago
@MadHabber93 Of course Americans are stupid. Some liberals in the US won't stop this Canadians having free health care bullshit. For God's sakes, Canadians are TAXED (quite heavily) to support this system. And now liberal parasites think that this system can be made free for everyone. In Canada, if you cut your fingers, and you go to the emergency room at night, most likely you will be asked to come back the next day when the staff're not as busy. WHINY Americans will never tolerate that.
ttiiyy 5 months ago
MadHabber93 5 months ago 11
@MadHabber93 - America pends more on healthcare than Canada, both a per-capita basis and as a percentage of GDP. Their system isn't perfect, but trying to introduce a state-run socialist healthcare system for 330 million people is next to impossible. Canada's healthcare system, while still very good, ranks 37th in the world behind the likes of Morocco, Columbia and Iceland. As for a "two-tier" healthcare system, its OK to have private clinics for abortion but not for eye and hip surgery?
bgibb101 3 weeks ago
@bgibb101 That ranking was based on the WHO report, a very flawed and now outdated report. It didn't even take life expectancy, or survival rates of diseases into account.
And the Canadian system is not 'state run' but state insurance financed. I didn't say for the States to take our system.
And in Canada, abortion clinics might be privately run, just like every clinic in the country, but its provincially financed.
MadHabber93 3 weeks ago
@MadHabber93 - Canada is still way behind in the rankings. I've been all over the world and have seen first-hand the outstanding hospital services of Switzerland, France and Austria. Anyway, I needed a C-scan here and didn't want to wait 18 months, so I shelled out the $800 and got it done in a week. Same with surgery for a crippling lower back pain (ruptured disc). So I paid for spinal decompression treatment rather suffer another three years in pain waiting for a bloody operation.
bgibb101 3 weeks ago
@bgibb101 a CT scan? 18 months?? Total B.S. Posted wait times for CT scans in Ontario for example have average waits of less than 30 days. I waited 10 days myself for a non-urgent case.
Canada has some of the best disease treatment results, not to mention some of the best cancer survival rates on the planet. FOr everyone. Not just the one's that can afford the treatment. THe WHO did NOT take any of those into account.
MadHabber93 3 weeks ago
@bgibb101 Ranks in what categories? Averaged across all categories? Canada's ranks much higher than Americas in terms of patient outcomes for most patients, but it's true, America is the land where if you can afford it you can get the world's best health care. Some things you shouldn't be able to buy, however.
donteatthefishsticks 1 week ago
@donteatthefishsticks - If Canada's healthcare system can only be compared to the USA, then we must be in a very poor way indeed.
bgibb101 1 week ago
@MadHabber93 I agreed with you until you said "waiting FOREVER because you can't afford it"
that never happens.
they get treated and then they're in debt forever, and that's the problem.
I'm just saying.
No one is denied care in either country and it's disingenuous and a little disrespectful to say that we would deny somebody care.
darris321 4 months ago
@darris321 You wouldn't be denied emergency care, that is true, but a hospital or doctor is not obligated to treat chronic diseases like cancer, etc. That is why, according to a British Medical Journal Study, 2 Million Americans had to forgo needed cancer treatment due to cost in 2010. No pay, no treatment. That's just a fact. Many people can't get that loan to get treatment, so essentially, they are denied due to inability to pay. They just don't go to the hospital.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@darris321 My friend down in Texas was denied care for his back problem and he had insurance, they delayed it so long the problem got worse. instead of fixing his disks that were causing the pain, they just destroyed the nerves so he would not feel the pain anymore. That would have never happened up here, they would have fixed his disks right way, because the best outcome is more important then the cost up here.
Fireflygamer 4 months ago
@Fireflygamer Did you see my comment about Greece? They were amputating people instead of doing longterm treatment because the cost was more important than the outcome.
With public outrage it stopped, but that would NEVER happen in a system where you choose.
I sort of like the Dutch system because it doesn't kill competition. The Canadian system does. Only state hospitals are allowed.
darris321 4 months ago
@darris Only State hospitals are allowed in Canada? Dude do some research. The vast majority of hospitals in Canada are PRIVATE not for profit hospitals with some private for profit clinics. How does limiting for profit insurance stifle competition? Competition between what? Insurance companies? They don't provide care, hospitals & doctors do. I want my doctors working together to find healthcare solutions, not against each other. We take the profit out of insurance companies NOT the system.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@MadHabber93 working against each other finds solutions and once they're found they are open to everyone so they are also working together, they are just racing towards the solution rather than meandering. this is caused by the profit motive.
darris321 3 months ago
@darris321 Doctors get paid by both system the same way, fee for service. The profit is being paid to treat you. We eliminate the profit from the insurance industry whose prime directive is profit, regardless of your health outcome. Profit coming from medical innovation is still very prevelant in our system.
If a doctor finds a more innovative way to say, fix your knee, he is far more apt to keep that to himself in your system thereby benefiting their own patient and not all.

Fireflygamer 4 months ago
@thedumpsterbabys cont... but the more urgently need the care the sooner you will get it. and when they do make mistakes they don't have to worry as government protects them because they own the Justice system;

FIXWCBCANADA 10 months ago
One reason why the Canadian healthcare system has problems is because our doctors are moving to the United States. The Canadian Medical Association needs to do a better job of paying them their worth so we are healthier.
