  • me too!

  • i cry 2.28 and after that..

  • Aronofsky's ironic idea to symbolize consciouness of a emotional scientist, expert of cells, as an orbit of glass... that made a shamanic trip in Cosmos is simply brillant. It gives many approaches for our projections: The Fountain emphasizes this all the way. Tommy's scientific goal is the same as his personal goal: this made his acceptance of death hard. His mourning is deeper since he could save her...Survivng his lonely self he must leave his scientific mind and split his self like a cell.

  • @Cluebert If your a big fan of this director you should study Illuminism and Freemasonry to understand his inspirations. Read Blavatsky, Manly P kall, ect. I wish i had the time to explain it to youl all here but most of you would not understand or not believe me anyways. this is the exact reason brotherhoods were formed.

  • Xibalba was a nebulae around a dying star. Xibalba was thier term for the Underworld. The place where adepts and neophytes exchanged secrets and oaths. You all had better start understanding Freemasonry.

  • love this. it really teaches me stoicism - to get on with things easier, nothing's innevitable. phenomenal

  • this movie is so underrated.

  • the best moments? the movie is "one" best moment ; D

  • @TheToasti that s complately true.

  • It was more like having a dream than watching a movie.

  • ita brilliant movie but this is a very bad reprsentation of the movie uploader where are all the stunning visual scenes ??

  • This movie makes me laugh, cry and think.

    Truly beautyful.

  • just cant get enough!!!! more movies like this ONE!!!!

  • YEAH

    I KNOW!!!!

  • i have no words for this movie...its perfect.

  • Death is the path to Awe....

  • The scene starting at 8:48 for the massive win. Wow. One of the best 15 min films ever created, easily.

  • "I'm Going to die...I'm going to die :D" ...I think I cry when I watch this movie...

  • @Kaplonproduction It is the best part of the movie, when he utters those words.

  • This is an amazing movie, but please can anyone enlightin me to what exatcly happend in the end of the movie? i was so lost..... anyways one of the best film iv seen and surprisingly they didnt use CGI exept for the bubble futuristic part. Indeed a movie that must be watched.

And honestly seeing X-men 1,2 and 3 i thought hugh jackman was a really shitty actor but he surprised me, his acting was the one of the best.

  • @2munir He was reunited with Izzie in the afterlife. Only through death could they be in a sense reborn and live together forever.

  • @linavibe07 first person that I've read that understood it, the same as me. However the film is a tragic experience as it takes him all those year till he finally understands what he must do is die to be reuinited. thus death is the road to awe.

  • @2munir Sure can. The end of the movie is the same as the end of 2001 a space oddyssey. MAN BECOMES GOD. Illuminism in all its glory. right in front of your faces and you cant see the signs

  • ....I watched this movie, hated it, and then I realized that Izzy is the tree, it all made sense, and now it is my favorite movie of all time.

  • @BonezThePoet Same here when i first saw the movie I didnt like it Ifound it unsettling, But watching it again all the pieces fell together. It is a truly beautiful love story.

  • about his tatoos, was it a dot or a ring for every year that passed by?

  • best ever

  • 4:06 - 4:17 she looks like Winona Ryder in Girl Interupted

  • The meaning of life.

Ultimaty, when you view it from the highest dimension, there is no time and no space, there is no future and no past, it all is occuring in one fascinating moment of expression, but time is an illusion that has purpose.

  • The trunk of the tree is like the neck (spine) while the branches are like the brain and the leaves are the cells. The root of course is the heart.

  • im going to buy my copy right now... :)

    this is my best move!!!!

  • When the star dies, many more are born out of it. It is a sort of reincarnation film in a very exquisite way. HIs meditation s him becoming enlightened to understand that she is dead, and yes he will die too and can only live forever through death. Am I making sense? But that was what she was trying to say to him I think... loved it so much.

  • Actually you are making... a lot of sense! :) My interpretation is almost the same (though I didnt write it!) :)

  • Visually stunning film .... but so strange and yet so different from others that I´ve seen... that just becomes unforgettable (while the interpretation of this movie is not easy, in my opinion) ... I think it fits entirely in surrealism though as a story about our existence and death, and about timeless love... however it´s very sad and a bit depressing.

  • in my opinion the movie is sad but not depressing, hes tied to his soulmate for eternity through life an death. finding that love living in it an losing it. im envious.

  • i love how everyone has there own interpretationd of this film and how each are very good

  • i hate how some people say this movie sucks because it doesnt shove answers into your face

  • i am here , i will alwayes be here omg .

  • All these years, all these memories, there was you. You pull me through time.

  • about his tatoos, was it a dot or a ring for every year that passed by?

  • @dragonzith he started with tattoing the marriage ring which he lost... I interpreted the tattoos as "age rings" like a tree, so I think your idea fits.

  • that's what I think...kind of like a tree

  • @howdaremysheep10 For me it's hard not to get choked up at that scene...every time it gets me.

  • Opinion stated as fact

  • Is In Fact still only an opinion. LOL

  • En toda historia de amor siempre hay algo que nos acerca a la eternidad y a la esencia de la vida, porque las historias de amor encierran en sí todos los secretos del mundo!

  • This director is genius. I mean quite literally the end of all his movies leave you feeling so many emotions. Truly a flawless movie though.

  • God now I love that I'm called Iz or Izzie by everybody... and hugh jackman :P haha

  • CSDAVIS2386

YOU ARE JOKING MATE!i have never seen anyone before thinking the same, this movie is one of the best, maybe the best one i ve ever seen, and SUNSHINE had near enuff the same effect on me,damn.....so weird,i thought i was the only one loved them two movies and found them fairly similar!

  • thats great... i haven't found anyone either who thinks the same haha that is weird.

  • this movie is by far one of my favorite movies if not the favorite movie i have ever seen. the only movie to come close is Sunshine by Danny Boyle.

  • Such soulfull acting...Hughman & Weisz.

  • 2:24 Ah how I love sharing a similar name with her character. Go hugh Jackman <3

  • 8:00 and beyond is so powerful seeing him try so hard even thoe he knows shes gone he wont give up.

  • Everytime I see the scene at 8:00 I cry. Even before I'd seen and understood the rest of the movie, I cried. There's something so beautiful and haunting about his desperation. I really love it xx

  • Me too.For me,that's the saddest moment in the whole movie...

  • I know, its such a shame that Aronofsky's Watchmen will probably just be a dream.

He is an exceptional director at getting emotion from his cast. Look at Requiem for a Dream, even Jared Leto is tear jerking in that movie.

The Fountain is his undisputed masterpiece and its being mistreated in its own time by critics and the public alike which is probably the saddest part of the movie.

  • This is honestly the best science fiction film I've seen since 2001: A Space Odysessy, truly remarkable film making.

  • it's a pretty deep going movie.. about.. karma .. bondage .. liberation & .. death.. not to fight death .. not to run away from it .. but to accept it ... ..he finished it .. he reached samadhi .. cosmic consciousness we're all immortal .. .. it's just always different than u think it is like ..
  • i though its only me thinking they way u do.

  • ur an idiot ...

  • The message isn't meant to be overtly religious. The movie is truly about the acceptance of one's own mortality and death being a part of living.

    It wasn't religious "bullshit".

  • Just because the film is deep doesn't make it religious.

  • @ginkgonk122 try it again..

  • spettacolare video complimenti ..1000000 ******++stelle ciao

  • im going to buy my copy right now!!!

  • This is not a rent movie ! This is a must have movie ! So just buy it !

  • Me to...

  • This movie always makes me cry.its so touching.

  • If you want to play the best parts from The Fountain then you would have to play the entire film. Amazing work and was very deserving of a much larger audience than it got. This was the most beautiful and original piece of cinematic work in recent times. It deserved almost every award available at the oscars that year and instead didn't even get nominated. That is a true crime in the cinema world. If I managed to make a film even a quarter as good as this masterpiece I would be very happy.

  • interesting . my boyfriend kept telling me to go check this movie out. I mean he really love it. I know what im going to rent tomorrow. thanks

  • You should really watch it.

I told the same to my ex gf just before she broke up with me. I guess it was my last attempt of showing her how much I loved her. If true love can be captured on film, this must be the best attempt so far...

  • 1:05 whats that hairy stuff?

  • The back of Rachels neck?

  • there really is no one way to describe this movie. its about moments happy or sad. an its about life an death. tommy's biggest mistake was trying to extend the time he had with her. instead of savoring every second. an the movie shows u how it tears him apart losing her everytime. then finally accepting that death is absolute an unavoidable. and trying to prolong it brought him way more grief then accepting it.

at least thats what i got from the movie lol :)

  • i do not judge tommy.... he was only thinking how to... save her, she wasn't that old, actually....

the same thing doctors do, when they have really hard patients- they do not give up until the last second of their life....

The same thing do the researchers, looking all the time for some new medicine against different deseases, just to make others' lifes longer as much as possible.

I do not make any critics, i just dissagreed about the fact that tommy shouldn't have tried to save Izzy..

  • i wasnt saying he shouldnt have tried to save her. only that he shouldve accepted the unavoidable an cherished the time that he did have.

  • this movie has so much meaning and symbolism you can pick apart your own conclusion from it

  • i agree with u. its one of those movies where u see what u wanna see. just like art no one sees the same exact thing when looking at a painting. u get whatever u get from it.

  • Ooo then I don't know how I can help sorry, unless you were to find it online some how.. you could try Googleing it....

  • I havn't seen the movie.. :)

It looks really good and sad, but also really confusing.. :s

    - can someone descripe the movie for me? :) what it is about`? :D

  • just watch it, and don't over think it.... it's one of my favorites... good stuff

  • Can I see it here on Youtube?

  • I don't think so... try looking for it in the search option, you might get lucky... if that doesn't work you could always rent it... I just bought it with out knowing how it was.. and I do not regret doing so...

  • But I'm from denmark, and I don't think the movie is on the market here.. :S

  • The word that describes this movie best : amazing.I love this movie,it made me cry so much. Its so extremely touching. <3

  • can't believe he lost money on this movie. It was so amazing and wish I could right and story 10 percent as good as this. Movie is perfect!! Everybody go to the store and buy this movie.

  • This movie is just begging for tears could watch this kinda stuff in my early 20s but now I just wanna watch action and comedy and movies with fart jokes

  • i think it's also about spending the time left as best as u can.he tried so hard to save her that forgot to enjoy the time they had left.

  • oh and sorry if i repeated the idea of another.i didn't read the comments:) i read on imdb that izzy creo is a phonetical for "y,si,creo"(and yes,i believe).i love this movie.

  • the arm tattoos.... <3333

  • please, an oscar for this actor now!!!!!!

  • so so beautiful and crushing. one of my all time favourites. nothing but love here

  • lol

  • bye,Iz!! omg, how cute!! this movie is AMAZING!!!

  • this movie is just something else. and it has to be said the soundtrack is right up there. whatever it means it appeals to something in all of us. even I cried and I'm in the army!

  • Hugh jackman with the performance of his life in this movie. Actually, I'd wager 96% of the people involved in this film haven't done anything better, or performed better than they did with this film.

I will say though, that it's breathtakingly sad.

  • Fluffywalrus, the only person I'd say who did a performance that topped their performance in this film is Ellen Burstyn and her role in "Requiem for a Dream". Although, she really didn't have to do much for this movie.

  • This movie is greatly underapprciated, a beautiful movie, but utterly soul-crushing..

  • Thank you.

  • I agree with DeynaStex and go one step further to say, for me it means that death is not ending, cause we´re part of creation.

  • the movie is more about accepting death as a human quality

  • life can be sad enough man, why would you want to watch something like this?

  • well if I found someone who loved me that way... I wouldnt mind to live and watch it even for some miserable days...

  • and the oscar goes to hugh jackman. if the world stopped and payed more attention to independent movies, and stopped being led around like sheep only liking what every1 else thinks is good.

  • it was an indy? damn no wonder

  • yeahhh

    same for Mr Gary Oldman

  • At least they got best actor right for '07. Who was it that won instead of Hugh Jackman?

  • yeah indy movies are the best! and hugh fuckin rules:)

  • best part for me is 6:50 - 8:30

    :-)

  • Noo her sexy accent has gone :(

  • Seeing Hugh cry in this film made me realize how limitless his talent really is! I so enjoyed watching him and Rachel together.

  • My name is Izzie. It's kind of hot when he screams my name (Even though he's devestated, but anyway).. hehe

  • it made cry a lot... made me tell my family "I love you"... didnt know why!

  • Similar scene in Matrix Revolution when Trinity dies. She says finish it. When Neo hesitates, She says you will

  • I did..

    And I don't get it.

  • There are many interpretations. Mine is:

You can't change lost love (in any way) in the past or the future, all you have is NOW to share with your loved ones. And that it's futile to arrogantly try to undo mistakes in the past.

You should take whatever feels best for you out of this movies. This is my take, feel free to agree or disagree :-)

  • Explain it please

  • try to see it...

  • So...think about it a little.

    It's not hard.

  • amazing movie, master piece!!!

  • a fountain pen i think lolz

  • lol at the copyright info

  • hahahaha

    duuuhhhhhh

  • фильм который изменил меня.........................

  • death. touted by so many religions as to be the release of the human soul into some kind of heaven. but if i had to bet were gonna be sleeping pretty dam good. Don't believe em people, avoid it at all costs.

  • Well said. I'm of the same philsophical bent.

  • yes it is

  • Such a beautiful film. Thank you for sharing. You really picked the best and strongest moments.

  • Another comment, in addition to my last two... I believe one aspect of this film represents man's pursuit of eternal life. The main character is so obsessed with prolonging the life of his True Love, that he neglects the beauty and treasure before him, while he has it. This life is a gift! Cherish those you Love, while they are with us. For there WILL come a time, when they, or we, will pass beyond the threshold of life, down the "Road to Awe".

  • ive seen you loved the movie.

    like myself.

you have a true understanding of it.

    thats nice.

thanks for filling in with comments my vid.!

  • That is absolutly correct. Thank you.

  • A profound and beautiful statement and unfortunately all too true. This movie reminds me a little of the "Time Machine" when he loses his love and spends the future trying to change the past. Does anything put things into perspective more so than death?

  • In addition to my last comment, Our view of the universe in merely based on our human experience of our 5 senses. We can no more comprehend the universe before us, than a insect can comprehend a man. It likely the insect sees us as merely part of it's environment; neither intelligent nor alive. I therefore gaze at the hubble images with wonder and awe; Is the image before me alive; intelligent? If so, it is likely that it is so far beyond us that it is incapable of knowing we're alive.

  • That reminds me of a comment made in Solaris (2002) when Kelvin is discussing Solaris with Gibarian. They wonder if the planet is alive and Rheya states that she doesn't think it's God, but simply another form of intelligence.

  • A truly remarkable film. This film is a work of art in every sense; visually, audibly, emotionally. A man coming to terms with the death of his wife is merely one aspect, granted a truly profound aspect, but merely one aspect nonetheless. This film illustrates my view that "Man can no more comprehend the universe around him nor what lay beyond the threshold of this life, than a fetus can comprehend the Mother and what lay beyond the womb."

  • This movie is pure poetry in motion. Every single moment could be a beautiful painting or a stunning photograph, the score has so much emotion in it ... so moving.

  • The film is not to be taken literally. To put it simply, it's about a man coming to terms with the death of his wife.

  • I read a summary online that say the whole space thing is part of the book tommy writes.

  • My belief is that Tom finds the cure to death. I think he plants one of the miracle tree seeds where Izzie is burried at. I think the future Tom (The one in the floating orb) is Tommy in the far future, and he has lived so long that space travel is way advanced. He finds a way to take the tree(to him, the tree is now Izzie), to the dying nebula because he thinks she will be reborn. The conquistador is just Tommy's imagining of himself in ancient times.

  • this film is confusing...lol. i want to understand it. still don't get it.

  • I think it has a lot to do with past lives, present live, and future lives all being connected.. like a journey of evolution... until, in this instance, perhaps, 2 people ultimately become one.. and live forever

  • When Poetry meets cinema, this movie is just excellent. One of favorites ever.

The words are poor and always not enough to describe the feelings that you get from this film.

  • this film is the most beautiful film visually ever. The story is incredible as well and the whole concept makes it one of my fave films

  • ha you guys need to chill out. some people like this movie some people dont. whether or not the movie is good is completely subjective. the score was fucking sweet. and though the film itself is riddled with a lot of unnecessary crap, hugh jackman made his character believable, and the visual effects were intoxicating to say the least. one of my favorites.

  • This movie has the greatest imagy in a movie i have ever seen. Also the best climax.

Does anyone happen to know the style of clothing it is that he's wearing while in space?

  • have no idea... sorry

but try to looking for in the dressers... they might have creations... and they might help u a little

  • well ive never meet anyone!!!

    unfortunately

  • Oh, i love that movie so much. Man can also feel in romantic ways, dont be suprised.

  • This must be one of the movies that has affected me the most.

  • The best moments...hmmm... I think the whole movie is a big beautiful moment. ;-)

  • ah ah

    you are probably sure!!!

  • the best movie ive ever seen....after matrix

  • I personally LOVE this movie....The first time I saw it I was flipping through Channels and I was really really stoned, and the movie just Amazed Me,then i watched it while I was Sober and It was EVEN better!!!!

  • one of my favorite movies! thanks...

  • This is a movie you hate or love, and I love it. It's beautiful, and I am in love with the music. I'm so happy I rent this one just because I thought it looked like a cosy movie to rent :P

  • Great work. Haters fade....

  • as far as I know.. cinema is also an art.. so i still dont know what your problem is...

    7th art! recall that..
