It's one thing for pro-Israeli interviewers/journalists to try to make people think they're right by using these dirty tactics in conversations (she's doing a way shittier job than most though btw), we're getting used to that, but to see one do this to Chomsky is just too infuriating. When you think of what Chomsky's saying, it's so simple. And yet it is so difficult to get it across even to highly educated adults. His message boils down to this: don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to yourself. The reporter is a magnificent example of how Israel depends on world conflict to mask their war crimes: She asks if what is "going on in the territories" worse than Afghanistan or Darfur? What if those countries cleaned up their act?? What conflict would Israel work to sow elsewhere in the world?? But if that were a deterrent then decision making would become virtually impossible on grounds of an inevitable measure of marginal uncertainty. What in life can ever attain the status of absolute truth? We have no choice but to make rational choices based on existing facts and to constantly ask 'What if you're wrong?' in an effort to thwart an undesirable yet rational conclusion is simply counter-productive rhetoric.

I'm in total awe of Chomsky as a lecturer, professor and activist & as a human being. I would have lost my cool w' her already; he's so patient. This woman keeps interrupting throughout the whole damn interview, not letting him finish a single thought. It's incredibly frustrating for the viewer, not only because she's robbing his audience of a chance to hear him speak but also because she sounds unbelievably dumb & makes the program barely tolerable.

When you think of what Chomsky's saying, it's so simple. And yet it is so difficult to get it across even to highly educated adults. His message boils down to this: don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to yourself. We all think we understand and follow this, and yet it is practically impossible for us to see that our countries violate it massively every day. It's impossible for us to see that we are wrong bc we are in power. And that is the problem with power.

it's quite interesting to see that channel 2 journalists behave like fox news journalists. also, the "what if you're wrong" argument is one only someone totally uneducated would make. his reply could have been "what if you're wrong?" and he did ask that. the rational, logical question is not "what if you're wrong" but "who is right" or "who has the most evidence." that's how science works - not "what if you're wrong" but "who has the evidence" and that's how rational people approach problems
