Easier steps for cleaning any computer.

1. Get soft cloth.

2. Use 70% rubbing alcohol (NO higher.)

3. Wet cloth, squeeze excess. Cloth should be damp, not soaking.

4. Wipe entire computer. Avoid stickers and labels.

5. Let dry 5 minutes.

Alcohol is what is used in 90% of the "cleaning solutions" used in cleaning kits for electronics. Also has the effect of removing skin oil and finger gunk from laptop. 50% alcohol might have a harder time removing gunk. 70% is good. 90% strips paint and ink.

However, just because a lot of PCs are black or silver or grey doesn't mean they don't need CLEANING (most certainly not washing!!) it only means that the dirt doesn't show up as much. Anyone who thinks that any product, whether it be a laptop, desktop, television or any electrical product for that matter, doesn't need cleaning have low hygiene standards in my opinion.

instead of using tissue, you may try using a magic eraser. it might be dangerous if some small torn tissue part might enter small openings in ur mac.its not actually a rubber its a sponge like material. it can b bought at any mac stores

i plug up my usb ports, and use a mr.clean magic eraser, a q-tip between the keys. and a microfiber on the screen. works amazing. you just have to make sure nothing is dripping into the cpu itself.

Only use toilet paper on a polycarbonate mac, if you are cleaning a aluminum mac use a microfiber cloth or else you will end up with tons of scratch marks all over your mac :)

(BTW microfiber has no use on the polycarbonate shell is pointless, and watch out as your track pad can be RENDERED USELESS!!!! if your using microfiber)

Just use the Magic Eraser. It works wonders, especially on the white MacBook. Just be sure to use light, even pressure, especially near the keycaps. Wouldn't want water getting under the keys!
