no, she chooses the dr, but changes her mind and goes back to Ernie to tell him she really loves him but his pride will not let him take her back-even though he really loves her. She leaves him at his cabin. He doesnt die.

Both are good physical matches for the real life von Kurowsky and Hemingway, but the characters just weren't very fleshed out. Agnes von Kurowsky was described as being very different from how she was portrayed. Sadly, the finale of this movie never happened. Ernie never Agnes again after he returned to the States.

Ernie probably deserved more. The performances seem flat and wooden in places. And the cinematography feels like: 'made for tv'.

Terrific musical score though by James Newton Howard. Which if for not, would probably have ended up straight to video.
