hey could you use small sterling engine to run the fan?? it could even be one of those simple popcan engines!! somone in say south america could build these out of scraps!! fan and all!
@muddymuddymuddmann Wow, thanks! but that seems like too much for such a modest effort. The folks at WorldStove are way ahead of me and literally distributing thousands of stoves to the rural poor in a bunch of countries. And they already have a fanless stove. But I'll still take any encouragement I can get! :o)
@approtechie WHEN I DID THE TWISTER STOVE, I HAD FULL INTENTIONS OF BEING ABLE TO FIND TIME TO DEVELOPE IT AT LEAST TO THE WOOD BURNING STAGE, BUT AS USUAL I HAVE TOO MANY IRONS IN THE FIRE. THE WORK THAT YOU SHOWED ME IN THIS VIDEO, JUST MADE ME SIT ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. THE TIME AND HEAT OUTPUT IS FANTASTIC. GLAD DOESNT EXPLAIN THE GRATITUDE I HAVE FOR YOUR WORK. YOU DID , AND SHOWED MORE OUTPUT, THAN I HAD ORIGINALLY HOPED FOR. YOUR DEVELOPEMENT IS SUPERB. GREAT WORK!
@muddymuddymuddmann Well, thanks again! I feel like I'm building on the work of many others and have learned so much from folks like you. Isn't YouTube great?
@muddymuddymuddmann I just found your video on the twister stove. How interesting! I also cut 14 slits in the bottom of my can but angled and only slightly flared them to give the venturi action. The fan is mounted on an angle to give the initial clockwise swirl, then the stovepipe, and over the flares to create a partial vacuum and suck gases out the bottom. I cut 12 slits in the top and flared them out more to catch the gas/air mix and continue the swirl in the same direction. Same on the top.
@approtechie YA YOU TUBE IS THE BOMB. JUST TYPE IN THE SUBJECT AND FIND OUT HOW MANY TWISTS TO THE SUBJECT THERE ARE. AND SOME WHERE IN OUR MINDS QUEST, WE SEE EVEN FARTHER INTO IT AS WE GO. THEN A NEW IDEA STARTS BECAUSE WE HAVE QUESTIONS. IT'S GREAT.
YEARS AGO I MADE LONG VERSIONS OF THE TWISTER ROCKET STOVE TO SEE IF I COULD BUILD A HEATER THAT WOULD BURN ANYTHING. THE ANGLED HOLES WERE IN A SPIRALED PATTERN THAT EXTENDED FOR ABOUT A YARD, THEN EXHAUST PIPE WENT THROUGH THE ROOF IN MY SHOP.
@approtechie IT PUT OUT A LOT OF HEAT, AND BURNED ALMOST ANYTHING I PUT IN IT. BUT IT STILL SMOKED. THAT TELLS ME IT WASNT THE PERFECT MIX FOR ALL. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THE MORE IT DRAWED, THE MORE IT WOULD MIX AIR. IT WILL TAKE TIME TO PLAY WITH THAT ONE. BUT THE BEST PART AND MOST HOPEFUL PART IS. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LONG AND FULL OF HOLES, NO SMOKE CAME INTO THE SHOP THROUGH ANY OF THE HOLES. USED MOTOR OIL SMOKED A BIT MORE THAN THE REST. DIESEL SMOKE VERY LITTLE. ALCOHOL WAS SWEET

@managanst1984 Yes, that is certainly possible. Others have had the same idea but I'm not sure I've ever seen one built.
