yea probaly one of their best radio songs ever. great tune great synch with roberts vocals. and theway tey build the song up with a thumping beat of t drums guitar and vocals hitting at the same time. cool stuff.
I agree 100% you have to blast this song (try "disintegration" too!). The best way is to use a speaker as a pillow. Back in college. I'd get noise complaints from 14 flrs below me! Guards/Staff/Stud were slamming on my door but I couldn't hear a thing! One of many things I love about Cure is their endless instrumental intros. Today, you've got 8 sec to bring in the voicals or you're out. Scary. Q: i grew up in FR where Cure was huge since day 1. Were they big in the US pre-disintegration?

Right before Robert Smith got off drugs, and the never-ending drama of the almost daily threat of suicide, The Cure was awesome. He cleaned up,and found a reason to be happy.... and shortly thereafter, the band SUCKED. Same thing with The Smiths. Don't get me wrong, I loved them both... but that tortured existence was what made them great. One of their best tunes.
the cure have one of the most unmistakeable sounds in music history. You can tell its a cure song within the first couple of seconds. And its not because the all sound the same, its just a distinct sound. Robert Smith and Morissey should collaberate on a song
I don't get "nightmare" at all. . . it's sublime, melodramatic teenage soundtrack music. Loved it when it came out (I was 14). Can't help but get all those gooey teenage memories when I hear it now. Reminds me of all the good things. Nightmares happen in war zones. This is pure nectar, kiddies ...
the cure is one of the very few bands that knows how to use guitar effects properly i think other people just do it to try it out but the cure knows it's gonna fit the song
I didn't know that there were 2 versions of this song either. Cool! I like the beginning of the other one too, When Robert licks his lips and has this smug look on his face.

Hi I live in England- the Cure have always been big over here-even in the 70's-80's...to present day.
Thanks for speaker advice!!!......:D
One thing with the Cure-[or ANY DECENT MUSIC]-, is it has 2b played LOUD to get the TRUE quality of it...
JRRDPR was good on giving me advice for speakers too-
YouTube is much 'friendlier than twitter'- Thankyou guys for your help/advice..

This version is from their "Mixed Up" album, it was remixed and that bass line was thrown in. I love it too.

This music is so indescribable. I mean it is some sort of twisted dark dream pop with punk influences. It's like a beautiful nightmare.

Both The Cure and U2 were big in the 80's......I like em both but I wonder which band made better music.......Im more partial to The Cure...

without a doubt the cure
partyboyrocks69 2 years ago 2
partyboyrocks69 No way! U2 will out do Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones as the all time favorite bands in the world.
Ok, it's just my little opinion.
The cure is fantastic, the band members are accomplished musicians. You can't really say that about alot of bands that are out there now.
