for beginners i would use a regular open F chord. transition to the C is 10x easier.

OMG Killll me. Just show us how to play the song man, for the love of God. If people don't know the chords and how to finger them they need to watch a beginner guitar lesson. its palm muting. you let your palm hit the strings as you strum. and it silences them so that they dont ring and they just strum and stop.
