  • Como foi que essa arara típica do nordeste do Brasil foi parar na mão dos gringos?

  • @sleepysnape AWW! Another Harry Potter fan naming their birds after the birds in the books. :) I almost named my cockatiel Hedwig because he's mainly white but Loki fit him better.

  • What a cute little bird :D

  • She's so happy it makes me feel warm and fuzzy!

My sun conure does the whole laying on his back begging for kisses- but when they fluff up their head feathers it's the cutest thing ^.^

  • What a beautiful and sweet little darling!

  • 最近買われた個体のようですが、これから切られた羽根が生え代わり飛べるようになるといいです。

  • I'm trying to learn more about their behavior and mating rituals and such (as he's getting older) mostly so I can figure out if it's actually a he (we didn't bother with a dna test). So far most of the stuff I know relates to cockatiels of which I've had many, but I'm not finding comprehensive info on green cheeks thus far. It's mostly for my own curiousity. I would really like to know when they mature, so I know when the more aggressive behaviour will start.

  • @lucefan Fawkes started to mature at around 1 year to 1 1/2 years old. During the mating season she started getting a bit more nippy and aggressive but not too bad since I lived in Hawaii at the time and the seasons don't change much. Now on the mainland, when it's spring she gets a bit more nippier than before.

  • Awww, that's just precious!. I have a Green Cheek Cinnamon conure myself and he also loves to lie on his back the same way though not for kisses. He loves doing that when we play, he plays with his bird toy much like a cat by grabbing with his foot while on his back LOL. They're such fun little creatures. Mine nips me hard on the lips some times as well, I think it depends on whether they're in the mood for a kiss or not.

  • @lucefan really if my birds not in the mood for kisses he just turnes his head

  • OMG SOOO CUTE

    OMG SOOO CUTE

    OMG SOOO CUTE!!!!

    <33333

  • That is so precious!! Is she still very playful as an adult?

  • @SolarDiamond Yes she is. The only thing is that now as an adult she's more aggressive about it and tends to nip me too hard when she really gets into playing with me. Lol.

  • @MarsArmy444 yes, birds will bite when they get excited. it's not an aggressive bite -- don't mistaken it for that, and especially don't punish them for it, or you will be sending mixed signals. they are actually so wildly happy with you and what is going on that they lose control -- they just get so worked up they can't help themselves.

you can learn to recognize that state and to help get them calm. animal behaviorist barbara heidenreich has materials on that--you should check them out.

  • Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! so cute! How much do they cost, each? And are they easy to look after? Well I mean, not difficult?

  • @lemurfan123 Well it varies on the price. I was lucky enough to get mine in Hawaii from a parrot breeder and paid $310. But in stores like petsmart or petco, the prices are up to $600. Fawkes is a bit of a handful. I love her and she means the world to me but when she screams it gets loud. Make sure they have a nice big cage to play in and enough to keep busy with. Do a lot of research first. I researched for one year before getting her. I hope that kind of answers your question. Lol.

  • @MarsArmy444 JEEEEZ thankyou soooooooooooo much now I have an easier choice thanks to you!!!!!!!!!

  • @MarsArmy444 you've researched for a year? OMG im not the only one who does that?!? xD I've been researching for 8 months on sun conures now and in two months I'll be getting mine for about 200$. Im getting quite the steal! I even drag my dad to petco the other say so he could look at them and he ended up being mesmerized by a Jenday. Maybe we'll add one after a while when I get my sun :)

  • @SenyaSaysSo Sounds like you're good to go. And yeah $200 is a steal. Sun conures are such cute little things with big personalities. I wish you good luck on getting your Sun. :)

  • @MarsArmy444 We should keep in touch so we can trade ideas and help each other if things should arise :) I already have ALOT of ideas for safe new creative ways to let your bird forage! :D

  • @SenyaSaysSo That's a great idea! And I could use some of those ideas for foraging. I can tell that my birds are getting tired of eating the same way all the time. :(

  • i am getting on for christmas. and i wanted to know how big they get. would u describe them as small or large conures?

  • They don't get too big really. Fawkes is less than 12 inches long from beak to the tip of the tail. This is about as big as they get. So, they're bigger than green cheek conures which are small conures but they're not really big either.

  • getting mine today!

  • Aw!! Have fun! On my first day with Fawkes I stayed with her all day. Lol.

  • im getting mine in 30 min.

  • ohhhh thats soooo cute !! i have a question ... im thinking of getting a parrot ...which is batter a sun or a cockatiel ? plz answer this question !! : )

  • well the fawkes is the only parrot I've ever had so i can only tell you about suns not cockatiels. tiels are cute and i love all birds. and with suns well Fawkes is so funny, entertaining, and usually that's true of all suns and I'm truly bonded with her. She was younger here in the video now she's older and more mischievious. She laughs a lot and gets along with everyone in the family. Though they say a sun's scream is really loud I"ve gotten used to her scream & she rarely does scream anyway

  • sun noiser but worth it

    have fun

  • Well, the funny thing is that now I have both a sun conure and a cockatiel! Lol. They're both adorable but they're completely opposite. Loki, my cockatiel whistles jingle bells and he's really mild-tempered and his bites hardly ever hurt. Fawkes on the other hand draws blood if she gets too excited or angry.

  • @enoxkahraman Conure's are not great starter birds for a couple reasons They ARE pron to biting and they bite very hard... They are a bit needy Cockatiels would be a better choice for a first bird because They are not as needy and they don't bite as hard/as much as a conure If it is your 1st bird Id get the Cockatiel There are some many beautiful kinds of them If you all ready have bird experience go with which one youd feel most comfortable with Good luck!! PS Years of bird owning !!!!
  • @enoxkahraman i suggest a sun conure because i have one and he is very playful and fun and loving but i do warn you they are loud.try looking up info on them because if you have the time and patience then they are a great joy!!

  • My sun is named Fawkes as well. He's a sweetie, a bit of a spoiled brat. He doesn't play on his back so much, but will roll over sometimes to grab at my hands with his feet.

  • by the way, be careful though, parrots dont have enzymes and human saliva is forbid to them

  • my conure also do that and even play with me tag your it hehehe, he also search for me when im not around hehehe, they do love sleeping on their backs too, i alwayz sleep with him in my bed

  • i got a sun conure n i would luv to play wit him i jus dont know how i dont know wut irritates him b cuz he makes that noise, lol but they r sooo adorable. do u kno how to play with sun conures? n also, how do they excercise? ok plz reply me back on my account if u can pl:) thx u God Bless U

  • Why he's just a baby! how cute - I know that many Suns like to lay on their backs but mine has always hated it. He's adorable!

  • Yes he is just a baby. He loves getting onto his back. He would just roll over out of nowhere and when he's really hyper he even throws himself down onto his back. Hehe. Suns are very adorable parrots.
