My word, that is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. It is absolutely stunning. It is precisely the type of les paul i would dream of having. Good work!
@Rockappalla I can't get enough of how wonderful this acoustic sound is! please give more info on the preamp, amp, speakers and mic you used to record this?
hi, can you please tell me what brand piezo tune o matic and pre amp your using. thanks in advance.. im in the process of building one too but first im working on the body.. im blocking up the 3 way switch and pickup holes, also one of the volume and tone holes for the pots then spraying it white
I love the tone and look of your guitar. Your playing aint too shabby either! I am curious if would post some detailed photos and some technical info about your guitar. I am in the process of building an LP with P-90's and a piezo bridge. So many options and variables! I love the sound you are getting from yours and any advise you could give would be appreciated.
i think he means its a REPLICA of the 59' gibson les paul so hes not saying its a gibson hes just saying its a replica of the gibson les paul 59 model . anyways nice video u have really good tone what gauge strings do you use?
No, he's referring to a router that you use with a 1:1 ratio follower bearing and a template. A bandsaw is just used to rough cut the basic profile of everything.
This is really impressive most homemade Les Pauls look a little off, but this is perfect. I am building a les paul 59 too and I was discouraged by other homemade les pauls until I saw this!
Holy crap amazing sound!!! Great acoustic sound, do you have the machines to cut the guitar wood or something? How did you go about making that sweet guitar??
hi i am in high schoool and recently made a taylor guitar with the ok from taylor they gave my school lay outs for it and we built them my taylor sounds better then my takamine custom! but any way you mastly sand by hand then you use a machine called the router and that makes it up for you
It doesn't take much to sound better than a Takamine! LOL! Takamine is encapsulated in polyurethane, which just absolutely should not be used to finish an acoustic guitar. It hinders the vibration of the soundboard/top so badly. I'm sure you guys used Nitrocellulose laquer on your project. I bet they turned out real nice...something you can be proud of. You should consider a career in guitar building...that's what I do. I spent the last 19 years working for GIBSON and then Fender custom shop.
ya we used that laquor and yes i rele am my teacher (shop Forman) recomended me to the man at taylor and he wants me to fill an app at taylor in cali.. i am super excited but really scared haa i treat guitars as a breath if i ever harmed a guitar i would never forgive myself. and you worked for gibson wow that is a huge honor
Damn that sounds so good, you got it in the tune o matic right? Seen one of them on ebay for 32£. I may be getting an SG soon so I'm tempted to get this alongside.
Congrats on building an amazing guitar, it sounds great on both piezo and humbuckers. Great videos, killer flames. I'm having second thoughts about buying an R9 from Gibson suddenly...
God me too....go to bulldog guitars they have great body kits for insanely cheap. only thing is I want to build a double cut lp junior too..no kit for that around yet. No more fuckin 5000 dollar 1959 les pauls fuckin money hingry bastards. Those parts are so cheap
I doubt you pay more because when you buy a guitar your paying for the labor which tops the cost of building materials. when you build it you cut out the labor cost and only pay for the materials. the gibson 59 replicas go for I think 5k or a little more than that while Ive heard of materials for a les paul (not cheap wood im talking honduras mahogany and stuff like that.) costing $700 for all.
no cuz you have that machine to make the fret board which is like SUPER hard to make frets are the hardest thing to make and to connect it to the head and body
you can put frets on a guitar by hand man. guitars have been around for centuries (well acoustics at least but same concept) and they didnt have machines back then. it takes longer than with a machine but it is very much possible to put frets on a guitar by hand and I think the majority of gutiars are fretted by hand but some people use a plek machine to set up the frets so that all the notes are dead on and the fretboard is free of buzz. but most gutiar bodies are cut with a cnc machine
fuck those plek machine frets they make the guitar sound so modern... i was at my local guitar shop and i was buying my first gibson so i tryed the 60's replica it was a beautiful sunburst then a gold top 60's neck which is the one i bought then this one that the tuners would lock it was made with that plek machine and the 60's neck sounded the best the 60's replica was really nice but it was way to expensive
GREAT sound! I've been meaning to put one of those piezo's on my les paul. Don't you need a preamp and a battery compartment for it though? How did you manage?
hey rockapalla! love this video and it's got me thinking about adding one of those bridges to my own LP project! greetings from mlp forum member j.six!
So Beautiful sound, what would I need to install something like that in my LP?
