The defense is not better in the NBA. The skill of the players might be higher, but the defense is not at all better. Certain rules (aka defensive 3 in the key) prevent teams from setting up any kind of effective zone. So think before you critique tayshaun

The defense in the NBA is FAR FAR better than college. It's just that in the NBA, guys have to be guarded closely because EVERYONE can hit midrange jumpers (even 7 footers, which almost don't exist in college anymore). That's why guys like Rajon Rondo get benched at the end of PROFESSIONAL games. They can't spread the floor and they can't hit free throws, so it makes it tough to score baskets if you're playing 4 on 5. If you actually watch the NBA, you'll see how much smarter the defense is.

Jcaudill, the defense in the NBA in terrible?? Why is it that college guys come into the pros and get benched because they can't play D? In the NBA, guys can actually shoot so the floor is spread out much more and everyone is 1 on 1. In the NBA 7 footers routinely hit 20 foot jumpers. In college, the defense crowds the paint because guys can't hit all day. I used to be a HUGE college fan, but low scores in college are due to lack of offensive talent. NOT because guys play better defense.
