  • this makes me want to cry!

  • This song is very soothing and the muppet boy is very handsome and adorable. It's really sweet to see him and Elmo sitting together as good friends, surrounded by nature.

  • This song is very soothing and the muppet boy is very handsome and adorable.

  • This song still gives me chills! I want to be 5 again!

  • Sesame Street being agead of its time, as usual. What a sweet video. What a good message. It's too bad that the shows creativity was lost with the loss of Jim Henson. It's all prepackaged and formatted now. They should have just stopped production and run re=runs from the earlest days forward.

  • When I was little this was always stuck in my head.. Now it's pretty :D

  • 2 martians disliked this video, and also

    :'''')

  • thats one brave sheep.lol

  • The video just intensified the coolness and harmony of the song. I love this!

  • Do you know what makes me cry the most? Joe Raposo- the writer behind such beauties as "Everybody Sleeps" "Peanut Butter" "Somebody Come and Play" and so many more...he wrote this just before he died, as his own personal farewell message to the world.

Rest in Peace, Mr Raposo. Your music and words were the herald of our childhood years.

  • Even as a kid, this song always made me happy. now, it makes me cry a little...I miss being a kid...

  • This is my son's favorite Sesame Street Clip!

  • We are lovely animal, please, do not eat us !!!!!

  • Since 0:59 is from "I'm Pretty", I wonder where 0:49, 0:52, 1:03, 1:06, (Big Bird's in it) 1:29, 1:32, 1:36 and 1:39 are from?

  • This was one of my favorites...along with We All Sing With the Same Voice. I guess I liked the ones with a message.

  • i like this

  • *sniff*

  • that song should be for Disney's friends for change

  • man i havent seen this in years,

aww 80s and 90s was better then now,

    now dayz is wack

  • ....T_T..,i miss d 80's and early 90's it wuz a much more simpler time. I tear up every time i see this vid...this song had a very deep message if u really listen 2 it..peace

  • Thanks

  • They don't make children's shows like these anymore. That makes me sad. :(

Such a lovely song that has a way deeper meaning when you look at it years later.

  • this song touches me so, I just want to hug someone as its ending, showing the birds nest and the earth, ::tear::

they don't make them like this anymore

  • @MuSiCaLChIcK23

I would like to hug Farley.

  • I could cry when I watch this song too. Remeinds me of when my kids were so young, but it's even such a lovely song that I would cry anyway.

  • Did Joe Raposo write this as his last song? I read in my Peanut Butter video that this was the last song he ever wrote, he wrote it when he was dying of cancer as a farewell and to ask the children to make the planet a brighter place after he was gone. That broke my heart, but then I read that someone else put that he didn't write it, Jeff Moss did. Which story is true? Either way this video is good for a sobfest! :,)

  • this song always made me cry

  • I just teared up watching this. I read on my Peanut Butter video that this was the last song Joe Raposo wrote, in 1989, before he died. Was this song put on Sesame Street in '89 or not until the 90s? Either way it is a touching video that teaches kids the value of ecology. I don't even mind its Biblical look; I'm an Earth-based Jew/Pagan who wants to blow a shofar when the Earth is finally saved and humans stop all animal abuse! :,)

  • Mine too

  • i remember this

  • i remember this song not one of my favorites :(

  • This is the best song on 'earth'.

  • When I was little, I used to watch this video, and I still have it in my DVD/Blue Ray collection. I love this video

  • I'm gonna cry!!! I wanna be a little kid again!

  • Don't we all darlin'....

  • This reninds of my early chilhood. :)

  • This is slightly overrated, but nice

  • This struck me as powerful even when I was five.

  • Oh, the lyrics are "sitting around together on a planet of the sun"! When I was little, I understood the lyrics as "sitting around together on a planet called the sun"! That thoroughly confused me when I was a kid. But now I see that I misunderstood the lyrics.

  • same with me! I knew at that age (5) that we lived on EARTH, not the SUN! It made me upset, till I listened to the lyrics!

  • Oops. I see that I made a spelling error in my original post. I meant to say that the real lyrics of the song are "spinning around together on a planet of the sun". Anyway, I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who misunderstood the lyrics when I was little. I guess that kids have a harder time parsing songs.

  • that true we do!

  • this song always makes me cry if only it was like this now :(

  • It can be. It starts with one. Just love. Yay! This song is so beautiful.

  • doesn't it sound like the kid is saying "some of us have grins"? the lyrics are some of us have skins.

    but a very moving video

  • "We live high in the mountains" is my favorite line...

  • @oh2worship06 i agree.

  • This is one of the most moving songs/video clips I've ever heard.

Watching this always makes me extremely sad... and I wish it didn't, but it does.

  • Jim Henson was a genious. His shows really expressed unity.

  • We are all earthings! <3

    Happy Earth Day Everyone! :')

  • in real life the lion would eat the lamb...... :P

  • I can swar that imeg was taken from some bible bictore.

  • I read on Muppet Wiki Jill Scott did a later version of this. Chicago and the frog were still part of the chorus of animals, but I also saw a blue jay and some animals used from The Animal Show.

Would like to see that, though to see how it's different.

  • dont lion eats all those animal for xsnack?

  • That's Chicago the Vegetarian lion. Also, I believe they had a lion and lamb together to symbolize that in Heaven, the lion will lie down with the lamb.

  • Amen, brother.

  • ditto that amen

  • touching <3 :')

  • awe! i love this so much. I dont eat animals or anything like that :) I love this :)

  • A nice song, we need more of this message, we're all Earthlings, no matter what species.

  • watching this takes me back to the good old days of being a kid and watching sesame street. I also thought when i was little that they said the planet called the sun.

  • That makes me 3! I also thought they said "A planet called the sun" and i was 10 years old the first time I ever saw this!

  • This is definitely more memorable than the remake sung by Jill Scott, although I do think the animals in that one were pretty cute.

  • i'm a wiccan i love this song of unity

  • the lion and the lamb kinda like what the bible says about heaven being perfect

  • When I was little, I thought they said "a planet CALLED the sun"

    BOY that confused me

  • yeah me too lol

  • As much as I love the content of this scetch... it still bothers me that McDonalds is a sponser of Seasame Street. Hypocritcal to say the least.

  • So this is where the documentary "Earthlings" got its name...

  • a great memorable song from sesame street!

  • This song's lovely...

  • Haha! This video SO promotes animal rights =)

  • This used to scare me when I was little

  • i saw this on play with me sesame

  • simply beautiful

  • I am 21 and I remember watching this clip. It brings back alot of memories for me. I have a 3 almost 4 yr old cousin and they always want me to watch sesame street with her. I don't like to because to me its just not as good.

  • I saw this when I was like 6 years old, it's such a beautiful song. When I got to 4th grade I stopped watching SS because it was basically "not cool" to watch it anymore, but seeing this again almost made me cry. You're really never too old for classic Sesame Street.

  • At least in the early 90s Elmo wasn't so poisonous to Sesame Street like he is now, at least to 20-30 somethings like us.

  • Yeah, it wasn't really until about 1996 that he truly started becoming the focus of the show. (Conveniently enough, right after the huge Tickle Me Elmo sales... Coincidence? I think not.) I absolutely love this song and don't see really see anything that should have been different, but could anyone else imagine Grover there in place of Elmo? Just a weird thought I've sometimes had...

  • I Never Forget this song when I was little

  • i love this song even though i am 13 years old

  • I have been looking for this forever. Thank you.

  • I have to disagree with the bunch. My daughter & I like both versions the same. Maybe b/c I'm a fan of Jill Scott & I like her style.

  • Omg im in tears. this is the best song ever!!!

I remember watching this ages ago.

    So many good memories

  • I know it would have ruined the pleasant mood, but I always wished the martian muppets would beam down at the end of the song and go "yip-yip-yip-yip... earthlings... uh-huh, uh-huh!"

  • The little boy next to Elmo looks like Nick Nomal's little blond brother.

  • This is and was my favorite kids' song of all time. Thanks for posting it. And don't bother with the updated version, because they should be shot for remaking something like this.

  • C00l I still have this on my "Sing, Hoot & Howl" video cassette

  • COOL I used to have this video too!!!!! Too bad that I got rid of it a few years ago. But I got the dvd this winter. Heart Warming song. I LUV the 90s. Boy I miss the old Elmo. snif

  • yea I love sesame street it always brings great happy memories

  • Yeah! Sesame Street got REAL music back then. Now on Sesame Street or lets say Elmo's World Street memories could be annoying and the music is MORE annoying like Elmo. Boy I feel bad for the kids that were born after 97.

  • yea I liked the 0ld elmo better & I always love to hear ernie's songs like rubber duckie

  • (snif) Yeah NOW Sesame Street is in DANGER with Elmo's Street, but Elmo is NOT the only one, NOW there is Cookie Monster's diet that made me MAD, and a new Hooper's Store came the SAME year just like Elmo's World, and Elmo made the GOOD chracters annoying. Yeah both of the oringnal, and remake of Jeff Mosses 'Rubber Duckie" are GREAT.

  • Congrats on yer 300th! I love this one :P

  • Wait till ya see what I'm gonna post for my 500th post.

  • I can't wait! :P

  • I'm sure you'll like it.:P

  • So beautiful! (sniff)(cries)

  • Yeah the song is very Heart Warming. They don't make music like that today ugh!!!!

  • Yeah!

  • Why do they insist on remaking all these old classics? The originals are so much better. It's like fixing what isn't broken.

  • Can you try to upload the remade version of this song?

  • Haven't seen that in years, thanks alot for posting!

  • YAY!!! Been looking for this for ages. Thank you!

  • I love this version better!!! I do not like Macy Gray's version. Is it Macy Gray that does the new version of this song?

  • I think so.

  • @dd1985 It's Jill Scott

  • @dd1985 i likes this

  • I noticed we both posted our 300th post on the same day.

  • Congratulations to both of you!

  • Thanks!

  • Hey, I admit I'm a "old school" S.S. fan who only likes the stuff from 1969 to about 1986. That is what I remember and that is what I collected and posted. However, this is a "new" song I actually got to like. Thanks for posting.

  • First to comment!

I always love this skit... so beautiful. For kids, teenagers and adults alike, I say. Thanks for putting it up, pal.

  • You're welcome man.I'm glad I got the "Sesame Street Jam:A Musical Celebration" dvd so I could put this up.
