  • This is one of my favourite The Who songs and it sounds great. But imagine if Kieth had been playing too.

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! The Ox's best tune. And he's had quite a few!

  • Okay, Pete and Roger look like they are in high school, John's hair got very light, and Keith is dead.

  • i like heaven and hell..john sounds great on that one and "my Wife"

  • John deserves a lot more credit for his singing! And Kenney Jones CAN rock!

  • if ya dont like this clip, song or band - why dont ya just fuck off...!!

  • Excellent song. Actually, the entire album "Face Dances" is pretty good.

  • entwistle= insane bassist!

  • great song rip bass legend

  • Cripes his voice sounds so different at the very beginning of this clip, when he's introducing the song to the audience. In fact when he says "This is one...off our latest album" he actually sounds a little bit American.

  • Entwistle's finest tune in my opinion. And they're all pretty great. But Pete is almost the star in this tune. His playing on the lp and live in this clip show him in fine lead playing skills. Townshend may have been wasted at this point in the band, but his playing was never better as a guitarist.

  • the bass guitar has never been the same since The Ox passed away. I bet any four stringed fiddel feels mighty lonely in the hands of lesser players. Like it's saying "Am i even being played?"

  • i agree greatly underated,

  • i agree great voice,,suerb playing, drumming by kenny superb why he was given a hard time passes me,

  • Comment removed

  • @amr7037 Mostly he was given a hard time because he played using a different style from Keith Moon, and most Who fans (myself included) feel that that style wasn't right for the Who.

  • i find it amazing how he plays his bass better than anyone while sings surprisingly well

  • @atgskater14 Jack Bruce is actually better at both singing and playing bass, as well as doing them both together. Sorry.

  • @proferic entwistle is bassist of the millennium sorry he is a fair Singer and the best bassist in the world never heard jack bruce ill check him out

  • Where did that voice come from?! Man, he really needs more credit at what he does!!

  • "i'm not quiet....everybody else it too LOUD..." love that. saw one performance where after he said that, Pete looked over at him kinda laughing....it was classic.

  • mr magic fingers here

  • well he is the quite one thats y he is soo amazeing

  • awesome! what a performance!

i think pete really pushed a lot harder for johns tunes.

  • one of kenney jones' better songs even on the album

  • I love John. How can you not? I can watch John forever. The Who at their peak....fuhgedaboudit. Time for Pete & Roger to pack it in. Pretty sad. Where's the pride? What was that album they did? "Electric Wire"? Oy vey. No more please.

  • @whiskypapa sorry, but their new album can't be worse than most of the stuff out there.

  • John Entwistle was voted BASSIST OF THE MILLENIUM in 2000

  • My girl loves and adores The Ox!

  • never let that girl go... ever!

  • Don't plan on it!!! :-)

  • That was wicked!

  • John Entwistle was a good song writer and great Bassist. He is missed in the world of Rock. Great song.

  • "Writ by me..."

I don't know why, but I lol'd when he said that.

  • he use overdrive right !? (John)?

  • yes

  • i love this song its SWEET

  • pete's playing is fantastic in this video

  • I love John to death, but he sounds Australian here. Haha

  • surprisingly, it really doesn't suck, that second drummer kicks ass as well!

  • That man is PERFECT! 8o

  • amazing. john never dies

  • love roger's dodgy dad dancin about a minute in lol,LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm 23 and saw them 5 years ago, a couple years after John died and they were amazing..been fascinated ever since..I can't even imagine what it was like back in the day!!

  • his voice is perfect for his songs

  • I just learned the bass to this by ear and no tabs at all WOOHOO

  • THE OX!!! LEYEND!!!

  • Wow Kenny is rocken it up there on those drums but John ... just incredible!! R.I.P John Entwistle

  • "It only takes two words to blow you away!" I was blown away before he said anything! Fucking incredible.

  • i saw them on 06 they just wernt the same without john and kieth

  • obviously... still better than most bands though...

  • THE OX WAS A GOD

  • and still is a god

  • Dont you mean IS A GOD

  • He acended to the world of rock, where he became god of bass.

  • not was... is

  • this is one of my favorite "The Who" songs...I love his voice.

  • He should have sung more. I like his voice. I'm blasting this to get away from the Xmas carol marathon today. :-)

I wonder when Pete will decide to pack it in.

  • why on earth didn't every who song have John singing? he's great.

  • Because singing and playing bass like a god isn't the easiest thing in the world.

  • Fucking Briillant!

I love him and all this awesomeness!

  • Great song by our Ox! Man, Keefers would have gone bananas with the drumming on this! RIP Johnny and Keef!

  • The Quite One...

He's not that quiet from what i'm seeing :P

  • Nice one..

  • i first heard this song at rockpalast 1981 it blew me away i wonder what keith moon would have done with this

  • he probably wud have done something similar to the drumming heard on the studio version of trick of the light, another fantastic entwistle number.

the who in no way lost it after keith moon died. they just adapted to fit in the style of kenney jones. they were a much tighter band with him but in no way wer they as exciting.

  • @vulgarvulcan that's! an awesome point.. but Kenny rocked it out

  • I'm not quiet, everybody else is to loud

  • this is awesome.

    what year was this?

  • maybe around '81?

thats when the album was made.

  • whoa. hello.

    thanks :D

  • your welcome

    my good friend:D

  • Oh you guys.

  • shush! dont make it so obvious

  • not that we aren't already.

  • i heard join together on a commercial downstairs. but since i was upstairs i didn't get a chance to see what commercial it was.

  • Woah. That's like... my favorite. I think I will buy whatever that commercial wants to sell.

  • WHOA you guys got "thumbed down"-ed

and i probably will too :/

  • does this mean you'll be buying a car? because it was for the new nissan maxima

  • Great song and great vid....nice n LOUD.

  • Normally I'm not a fan of 80's Who, but this song is awesome. John rocks! And haha Roger, dancing around.

  • true, this is probably the only 80's who song with any intensity.

  • Oh yeah I forgot: Great Drums!!!

  • Great song, great bass, great voice, great keyboard, great guitar... what else?!

  • i think its great that all 4 members of the who could sing it gave a different edge

  • its because he used to play french horn before electric bass, you moron!

  • What made Entwistle great was that in The Who Pete played guitar almost as a percussion instrument. That left John to take the melodic lines. Just watching his fingers fly is enough to get me off. RIP, man.

  • excellent...well said.

  • AMAZING MAN RIP THE OX

  • just great... ladies and gentlemen.. the ox!!!!

  • I once watched them do this on TV...some live concert. And at the part where he goes, "I ain't quiet...everybody else is too loud!" And Pete looked over at him and kinda smiled...sorta amused. Like,"That was funny...and probably true." It was classic...

  • It only takes two words to "blow me away"Rock on my friend!

  • john entwistle is the best!!!!

  • Roger's just in the background dancing :P

  • he does backin vocals for the chorus

  • I love this song. I love that bass. I love that suit. Damn, John is too cool...

  • awesome

  • He is the FREAKIN' man.

  • he is the only bassist i have ever seen singin while playin a complex bassline at tthe same time!!! hes the best ever!!! miles away from larry graham and jeff berlin, and they r good as hell tho!!!!!!

  • The sound on this is flippin' amazing. I'm playing it over & over. I love it.

  • Saw him live on his own twice. Flippin' cool. Great bassist needless to say. I screamed out "Mrs. Entiwstle!" to get him to play "My Wife" which of course he did. He thought I was talking about his mother! Long Live The Ox!

"We got rich a lot later than I expected. Now I'm too old to enjoy my money." ---ENTWISTLE

  • but u r never too old to enjoy the glory

  • Amazing bassist to sing AND play this song, cause thats a pretty hard bassline!, bloody class band, john is an inspiration to ever bass player out there!

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE THE WHO SONG!!!

  • I had the honor and privelige of knowing John personally. He was truly a legend in every way, shape and form. Beautiful inside and out. I think of him daily. And, he was not quiet; everyone else was too loud.

  • jaco patorius was the best jazz bassist, larry graham the best funk bassist, but john entwistle is and will be forever THE GREATEST BASSIST EVER!

  • THE GREATEST BASS GUITARIST EVER!*

  • the only man i have considered getting a tattoo of..

  • The greatest bassist ever....

  • great song , great bass, great band

  • this song rules, beats modern stuff hands down. my absolute fav bit (apart from the fantastic riff) is when he says "i aint Quiet, everyone else is too loud". john was a fantastic lyric writer and the worlds best bass player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • John we miss you!

  • haha. the irony. This guy was a genius.

  • Such an underrated song, I love videos of that show because Townshend looks like Nicholas Cage. Was Daltrey just back there swinging his mic around the whole time? lol.

  • He is quite a horrible speaker. I love him and his bass playing though....

  • accent

  • GREAT!!!! My favourite bassplayer-of course!!!

  • dude listen to this. my name is alec. my birthday is june 27. type in "John entwistle on youtube and read what it says about him.

  • Forever The OX

  • Long Live such talent. He will be missed. Why did he leave us with todays garbage music?
