  • This isn't rare.... this is part of the original opener and it has been all over music sharing sites since 2004

  • lilium no matter how many times i listen i always shed a tear and remember the fabled nyu and lucy kiss scene (no spoilers from me :3)

  • This was the first anime I watched which brought me to tears. I cried for a whole week after watching this (all though, I did keep watching the entire anime over and over again during that week) but still I cried so hard from this anime.

  • Love this anime it also brought me to tears as others have stated and I believe this series to be in a sense of a metaphor of tragedy, depression, sacrifice, love and as someone else said braking point as we each face these feelings I believe this show displays the worst case scenarios of these feelings and creates a solution by building characters and showing how they solved them.

  • Lucy whatever. she doesnt look so tough. if she was SO tough she would appear behind me and slam my head into the keyboard with her vectorksdjvnsjbhBCUHBCDUUMCI*&^%R^DC&IHUBNZHWGUBCurmhrvsuvdcbhdhjhnsuhyigcttyfutshdcihskkajiohduhnushbuycavhgyvyVWSZHFCBIYCSHNJZKCHBKDNFJOIomgbBQ bbhvbhldc v hsbv jhszbjvdb, jjvc, sdzvc

  • AH! This would have been so perfect to read with the ending(manga). I am someone who is normally devoid of emotions, but I felt all choked up and was tearing up as I read. I love Elfen Lied for that, it really bothers me when people say Elfen Lied is only a bloody/gory anime, it is not! People aren't really understanding when they say that, but this is just my own honest opinion.

  • @selearemus How did the manga end? I saw the anime but didn't care to read.

  • @CosmicG777 I don't want to spoil it because someone might want to read it. Search the ending on google.

  • @CosmicG777 trust me, ending in manga even dumber than in anime, if authors by some miracle decide to finish the story, they really shouldn't follow manga's plot

  • i mis elfen lied wy couldnt they just make 1 more episoe for a happe ending =(

  • @zamorakmage2010 because... in reality the manga wasn't that happy of an ending...

  • @patrick5087 i dnt se the manga dont like to reat

  • @zamorakmage2010 you did good if you'd ask me.The ending of the manga ruined the series for me. It gave a mixed feeling of love and hate

  • you wouldnt expect this music in the anime ahat with all the blood and all

  • How is this rare i've been playing this son since 2007. Well i was 9. I probley practiced not played. But now i PLAY!

  • @lightningwolf32 stfu attention whore

  • 30 likes i'll play this on my viola

  • @LightningWolf32 What now?

  • @LightningWolf32

    Put up or shut up!

  • why does Latin music sound so peaceful but so sad in an anime T_T

  • This anime makes me feel different than any other I've seen. The only series that has actually brought me to tears. That melody will haunt me forever.

  • @zombiem13 I suggest that you try to read(yes read :P) Ichigo 100%

That is for me the only one that has brought me to tears :)

  • @zombiem13 I suggest you watch shiki, along with elfenlied, they are two of the best anime's I've ever watched. Very sad as well.

  • Absolutely beautiful

  • I like this version better, but it seems the music box works better with giving this song the depressing factor

  • I read the manga till chapter 97 and It was good at the beginning when it was the same like in the anime but then it started to suck.(mayu + bando WTF?) Kurama became obsessed with his daughter and lost it. Seriously the manga ruined the series for me.

  • anime was great never have i see one like it it made me cry (im a guy as well and its hard to make me cry to tell the truth) but the ending where the guy went to go to the front gate is stupid (sorry for any spoilers i say) how we see the clock work but NOT when he is soupposed to open the gate i was mad and crying at the same time.... and happy with the hug/kiss part at the end but due to the ending i coudent sleep that night and went to read the mange which made me even more sadder in the end

  • yo amo esa version! no es rara

  • I'm so gonna learn this song on the violin

  • I never cried for any of the show. Call me heartless. I just didn't think it appealed enough to the emotion. If they really wanted a tragedy, they should've focused more on making the characters seem more like real people, and THEN kill them off. Plus the long talks during and before EVERY anime battle kinda' ruins the mood for me. Bleach example: *fighting, fighting, fighting, STOP!* Guy: DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME?! BECAUSE I AM HIDING MY TRUE FORM! MUAHAHA! *fighting continues*. :/

  • @notessimodude Bleach is a terrible comparison to make. Besides Elfen Lied isn't an action anime; the dialogue is VERY important.

  • @TwistedNsanity I understand it's not an action anime. I also understand that dialogue is important. But I think the producers could be WAY more creative than putting a dialogue in the middle of a battle. Ever heard the rule of writing; 'show, don't tell'?

  • @notessimodude I know what you mean but in an anime if you dont kind of put parts like that in then you'll go through a series a lot quicker than what most people would like. Not many people like the dialogue in the middle of a fight but if we dont have that a lot of time would be dropped personally as long as i have an episode of an anime i like i dont really care :P

  • ummmm dude the dog doesnt die lucy lets him go as a symbol of her getting free from the lab place

  • @Carmenyoohoo actually the dog did die

  • @Carmenyoohoo SPOILER WARNING lucy has a flashback and in it she has a dog that gets killed by bullies. then she kills them all.

  • Interesting...any idea who composed this?

  • this is much sadder than the original in the anime

  • I like anime's that focus more on the psychological aspect of reality. It lets us know that even anime can portray what real people can go through mentally, and possibly physically, though I don't think people can grow horns...yet.

  • Should I watch the rest of it? I kind of got bored after the first episode.

  • @JO74561 It's very good and emotinal. You should watch it.

  • @JO74561 Absolutely! This anime/manga has become my favorite out of any other!

  • @JO74561

It's incredibly violent and it can be a little wooden/melodramatic, so overall, not really.

At the very least, I think you should try it for the music...

  • @JO74561 It doesn't really seem to go anywhere in the first few episodes, but believe me, it's worth it!

  • Two words, LOVED IT.

  • Wonder why People are saying this Scared them? I thought is was cool (#^.^#)

  • the anime story is amazing but...holy shit! scared the heck out of me! T.T i didn't cry i just scream! o.o'

  • I think these kinds of manga/anime focus too much on the tragedy aspect rather than the storyline. Maybe its just me but to me the anime looked like another harem mixed with tragedy and insanity.

  • @undertyped1 that's your opinion yea but, it's an unique anime compared to others, and i don't agree with the storyline being neglected, i think it was amazingly well built. Been seeing some animes, like a lot really 10 out of 24hours seeing them :P, and still haven't found an anime so touching and bloody as this one. When i saw the first episode i thought i would just stop seeing it cause this was only blood and no sence. But it really caught me off guard and easily became my favorite anime :D.

  • @undertyped1 It reveals how evil is in everyone. I for one loved the show. I mean, there are all kinds of anime, if you don't like the ones with lots of tragedy in the show, don't watch them. I find the plots they come up very creative and I love seeing how it all plays out.

  • @undertyped1 Thats just because your not intelligibly able to fathom the intensity of the sad storyline.

  • @undertyped1 i see where your coming from but in a sense isnt it a tragedy because of the storyline? Every person gets a different experiance from a show like this but to me it was more than just a mix of things it was when the human reaching breaking point. how far we would go to cope and how we would solve our challenges if we were able to. sorry to rant im writing a paper about plot lol (of course your entitled to your own opinion all that just thought id throw in my 2 cents)

  • @undertyped1 It's not easy to show the personality of all the main characters and define a good storyline in less than 15 episodes. You have to choose what is more important for the anime between them.

  • @undertyped1

I think that the themes presented in the show were much more valuable than the mere harem themed aspects of the show. For instance, the themes of the value of human life, social alienation and the nature of revenge are all, I think, potent with meaning because of how universal they are in the shows plot. There are many things I would change about the show, like the fan-service and lack of depth in certain characters, but I wouldn't remove the themes.

  • Ah this music... its so lovely and peaceful ~.~ ♥

  • @foxesbaby and sad if you watched the anime and read the manga....

  • this anime made me so sad i couldnt cry

  • @DeadPheonixFX Agreed.

  • Comment removed

  • i hate things like deathnote clannad and depressing psycological anime but i love this anime and song beyond words

  • i just loved it so mutce i wanted them to make more parts and at the same time none kos its just something special i dont hafe feelings but this song just give u tears

  • One of the saddest stories I've ever had the pleasure of watching and or reading. I cried in the anime at the end, during Kouta and Kaede's talk, I cried at the some point in the manga. And then at Kaede's death scene in the manga... but what made me cry the most, out of all of these, was Kaede's letter to Kouta. That had me crying so much... Kaede deserved so much better than what she recieved... Possibly the saddest story I've ever experience.

  • this is a sad beautifuul story an song

  • 41 are justin bieber fans :D

  • the best

  • @missmaelimaktub

    soo true!!

    lol

  • If I still played violin I would play this song it's so beautiful

  • um....i cried?!?!!!!!

  • LOVE THE ANIME SOOOOOO MUCH -.-

  • Sick disturbing and wonderful story telling.

  • great.....................

  • Hey, I was working on this and somebody already had to be making this before me!!!!! ROAR!

  • @sasukerules01 ok, good, another person not hating on this show.

  • my eyes were malfunctioning and i thought it said "RAPE LILIUM VIOLIN VERSION"

  • @FrescoQueso XD

  • @sasukerules01 They do; Clannad ~Afterstory~ is a perfect example of a series that is amazing and emotionally stimulating.

  • I cry everytime I think of the anime

  • Yeah the manga was freaking nuts, the anime ended the story about halfway through.

  • The anime is aight but it better to read the manga the REAL ending is ten times better n sad sooo sad...

  • This sounds more like a viola to me :/

  • this song gives you a feeling you cant explain like the chills mixed with sadness and fear

  • If this is rare how in the hell did it get on YouTube? It's on my iPod for gods sake!!!

  • @ret6840 yeah its so rare its got 800.000 views

  • This anime is so depressingly beautiful... who needs shitty movies.. when anime like this excists... way better than movie, not faked and artificial... drawn emotion and atmosphere... very beautiful anime.

  • @Vinterskugge006 You're way too young to be watching this stuff.

  • @Sapreme Yeah i think i'll decide what i do with this.. thanks for your useless quota.. ever heard of diversity.. means opinions differ... -_-

  • @sasukerules01 Personally I thought the anime was pretty bland overall, very cliche (dark) themes that made it seem like it was written by a teen tryin' to show his dark side, and bad voice acting in both japanese and english, especially from Kouta... but omg that last episode was a gem it was award worthy it was beautiful I was shocked given the rest of the anime that this episode was just that beautifully done. I wanted to cry myself, lol Just finished it earlier today :3

  • This is the kind of anime that just sticks to your heart forever. It tells so many things about life, and people. You can't help but think about it after finishing it. I can't stop obsessing over it. I'm in the process of learning Japanese just so i can watch more animes and read mangas, and I'm in the process of reading this manga of Elfen Lied. If only they made more of these soul touching animes, I would be... happy and peaceful.... if only....

  • I cant live without this song I listen to this song at least 5 times a day ♥

  • Why the fuck somebody put their reaction as funny to this??

  • @NsKnLegendzZ That wasn't me was it? First time I've used a Youtube account so not to sure what I'm doing

  • To be honest, I never really cried when I watched this anime back in middle school 4 years ago except at the end of the manga and when Mariko and her dad dies, but it left me completely broken, disturbed, and depressed for the rest of my life... To this day, even when I watch the whole anime over and over again, I feel empty and speechless...

  • @IrisOuida, I feel the same! I only watched it a few days ago an now I cant sleep without thinking about it! :(

  • Don't worry... if the end made you sad read the last to chapters of the manga... or just hope with the rest of us.. I JUST KNOW that was (Lucy? Nyu?) at the end. She made it through so much. Who's to say she didn't make it back....

  • I cried:

    * when the dog died

    * when kouta's father and sister where killed

    * when lucy's friend was shot on the back

    * when they told lucy that her friend died

    * when mariko and her dad finally meet

    * when lucy and kouta talk/hug

...i probably missed a bunch of other ones plus the manga-only

oh and im a guy ^_^

  • @MathGeekQ The real tear jerker was at the end when the father and daughter sacrificed themselves together.

  • @MathGeekQ There is no problem with that I am a guy as well and I wanted to cry during the series

  • @MathGeekQ I only cried when mariko and her father finaly meet, and when the dog died I wished I could be there to crack that kid's skull

  • @MathGeekQ

    i didn't

but i don't have a soul... if i have to i would eat my cat >8w .... and keep her pelt

    i know im pretty evil....

  • @MathGeekQ i read this and was like "im sure ever girl cryed at those parts" then i read the bottom and was like "WHAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOO THIS DEFINES EVERYTHING THAT I THINK OF MEN!!!! :0 HE JUST KILL MY MIND!!" ( this was not meant to be mean to him)

  • @MathGeekQ haha oh my god... that's like really cute O_O

    and but haha I cried from those parts too D;

  • @MathGeekQ Theres more sad parts, Lucy dies, Mariko and her dad get blown up, Nana is abandoned by her "papa", Kouta and Lucy kiss and she apologizes for killing his dad and sister, and I think a couple more.

  • @MathGeekQ How did you not cry when Nana supposedly died in episode 4? When she said "Goodbye, papa" it made my cry for like ten minutes.

  • @Jsunmile gosh how did i forget that one?! yes that scene was very sad too ;(

  • Best anime ever

  • im not afraid to admit it. i cried when the dog died

  • This has got to be the saddest anime I hav ever watched;(

  • Hi:) I am musician who needs listeners and feedback. Would you give me that?:)

  • Thank you for uploading this version because I wanted this so bad it's so beautiful T^T

  • @sasukerules01 I cried too!

  • @sasukerules01 Clannad lol, what are you trying to do, get everyone here depressed for the next 3 months (after effects of clannad), that anime is unbelievably amazing...

  • @ItsGmezPoy .... why would you be depressed the ending was happy.. everything worked out..

  • B-e-a-utiful, i watched this with my, then, Gf and found it amazing

  • by far the best anime i have ever seen...i wish they could continue it but theres nothing much to continue off of only that lucy*spoiler* is still alive after being shot down. But what else would they continue off of...just lucy going back home?

  • so cool! I really really lke this too much ❤

  • @sasukerules01 well i watched and not a single tear came out

man i must be stone hearted :/

but it is a good anime and the song is just......... magnificent

  • @hefhef54321 maybe you just used to suppress your emotions.

  • @rpgsplayer cmon guys, no need 2 hate me

im not judging any1 4 saying tht they cried when they watched this anime

i was only talkin abt myself so pls dont talk abt me like im some kinda faggot tht doesnt care abt squat

i dont get emotional easily and thts tht, nothing more 2 say

  • @sasukerules01 dude...clannad total=50 episodes. Elfen Lied total=13. Your logic makes me think that EL is better...Which so far I can't see why not

  • @lpfan595 quality over quantity

  • @sasukerules01 I have that on my watchlist, so I will watch it next

  • This is some sad stuff, no doubt, I got a little misty, but the only anime to actually make my cry to date is still Chrono Crusade.

  • @sasukerules01 I'm just sad that it was so short. The ending did indeed make me cry, but I want more! I especially want to know who was behind the door.

  • wow this is really neat ! people should watch the show its sooo good

  • @SuperTedonator

no if they tried to make a second season now it would be too late and end up being crappy and less liked than the original like many other animes have attempted to, it only ruins the anime

  • Hey, can you give me the download link please???!!!!

  • Isn't this just the most classic and incredible song ever? It's so sad!

  • @bobetteboo Gives me chills EVERY single time I hear this. Such a great Anime and song. The Anime it's self, aside from Akira, really got me into the whole genre.

  • She does die in the manga, but she is reincarnated into two girls. So, all in all, it still ends good, even though she died in such a sad way.

  • I hope we get a season 2 I mean who wants to see lucy to be happy again with Kouta and love for the rest of there lives i think we all do please make a season 2 for lucy, for the fans and for the world we need all the fans surport not like we not but we need all for this to happen thank you for watching Elfen Lied thank you all that have watch it get all your friends to see it and famly and there friends untill all have watch it lets do this For Lucy and for all

  • @SuperTedonator

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news as if u read the manga, but thats it for lucy..........

  • T_T WONDERFUL

  • I already watched the anime but i really wanna read the manga cuz everyone says it has a better ending. I cant find it at my public library so anyone know where i coupd find it?!?!

  • @RIPmichael123 MangaFox has it online. Start to end :3

  • this is very a sad beautiful song.^^

  • when ever i close my eyes to this it makes me wanna cry

  • naa übrigens hab was geiles gefunden habs bei mir stehn

  • @paranoidTV You´re right.

  • Elfen Lied has shown the people who watched it just how cluel mankind can be. Mankind destroys everything that it doesn't know becouse of fear and misunderstandings. I think that if the world leaders all watch this anime they finally understand what they are doing and hopefully the world will be a betten place.

Okey maybe I was over reacting a bitt ^-^'

  • @paranoidTV hate to be a nitpick but you spelt cruel, because, and better wrong. But i get what your saying

  • @skkiittllezz yeah well I'm from Holland so my English is not that good

  • @paranoidTV your 100% right and if i had all the world leaders in my house right nao i would show them the series ._.

  • @SaskayoSam yeah well that doesn't happen very often but if you get the chance, please do show them haha

  • @sasukerules01 lol yeah, i got teary eyed when they 'killed' her but then i couldn't control myself after it showed her sillouette at the final scene. lol

  • @MuStCoMmEnT09 definitely read the manga. It has a more fulfilling ending.

  • @HTram I did, I wonder why they didn't turn the rest into an anime as well?

  • what a beautiful and melancholy tone it is very nice

  • Man, this is eerily haunting

  • Yeah if you watch Elfen Lied, you can't forrget here, she can't die in our heart and our mind !

  • @melmccon13 How did you even end up on this video? I think your perspective on anime watchers is unjustified, and my friends and I are nothing like what you seem to think of us as. I'm not angry, I'm just saying that some stereotypes have evolved.

  • <3

  • I about cried at the end of the anime too T.T but it's still one of my favorites ..beautiful

  • I was planning on making an extended version of lilium with male and female vocals, the ocarina, the violin, and maybe the piano... but i'm lazy. I'll probably be motivated if this gets into the top comments.

  • @ParadoxicalReasoning

    Top comment whore

  • @ParadoxicalReasoning It's in the top comments now XD

  • @ParadoxicalReasoning done your in the top comments.

  • @ParadoxicalReasoning I thinks its time you dust off those instruments! :)

  • @ParadoxicalReasoning You got top comment, Do it dude!

  • @ParadoxicalReasoning No videos on ur channel? Ur just a comment whore.

  • i thought elfen lied so sad at first, then i watch AIR and cried for about 2 hours at the end

  • @MrCatBlues WHY are anime watcher criers? maybe even pussies? they are just cartoon ya know? not real.

  • @melmccon13 People cry sad non animated movies as well and none of them are actually real so same concept. but yes it is fake.

  • @thedictatorfan I wouldnt reccamend you people to read catcher in the rye. you guys might leave a mess on your ceiling

  • @melmccon13

Alot of things that aren't real stirke emotional chords with humans.

Music, shows, movies. The reason is because we think to a deep level of our minds during a sad moment.

We think "What if this happened to me or someone I knew, how would I feel?" Even if the concept might be entirely impossible to happen in real life. Or with music, it can bring up some memories that really meant the world to us, joyful or saddening.

People don't mean to offend you by stating the facts.

  • @temarigirl160 This applies to everything in life to an extent when we witness anything at all many of the same neurons(based off how the brain views the situation) that activate if WE personally would be in that situation also activate

  • @melmccon13 IT'S NOT CARTOON. Geez. And just because people cry doesn't make them pussies. Yeah, it's animated but it can still be sad.

  • @kowaimatou Dude calm the fuck down its a fucking cartoon. i see you type of people at my school all time. those type of outsiders who read anime all the time in the corner of the library

  • very beautiful

  • Man .... Everytime i listen to this song .... i get shiver in all my corpse and i feel like i could cry ... This song is amazing to make yourself have deep feeling .... love it ... but soooo sad ..... :( Lucy <3 :( !

  • I just finished watching Elfen Lied again, and no matter how many times i watch it... it always seems to make me feel like im sad but also happy and it makes my heart hurt to know how hard it was for Kouta and Lucy, and then finally when there together they get seperated... it always makes me teary eyed, the whole thing. ^^"

  • @cotya117 and that is why it is so amazing catharsis

  • @cotya117 I know how you feel. You really should read the manga, it will make it even more happy and sad that the anime :)

  • @cotya117 amen. i feel exactly the same way you do when i finish watching it.

  • @cotya117 i know right?

  • Scratch that "if" part.
