@Adarascarlet it's the same with me when I ask myself if it's wrong that I think he's hot as Amon Goeth in Schindler's List. It's not, of course, becaue he's just an actor that's incredibly hot. ^-^
He became Ladislas Almasy to an extent that is only conceivable if you read the book. Rarely does the character in a book and in a movie match as seamlessly. Not only was he brilliant in The English Patient, but also he raises the level of the other actors he worked with, especially Kristen Scott Thomas. As partial proof of this I refer to the Horse Whisperer.
As a straight man, I know I am a visible minority among Fiennes fans. I hope this serves not to lessen the impact or validity of the opinion I am about to put forth. This man is an exceptionally talented, intelligent, and powerful actor. No matter what role he takes, he BECOMES his character. There is an integrity and a devotion to his craft that is almost tangible in his performances.
