  • horrible dude

  • haha i like ur voice, you make it a lot easier to pay attention and follow in detail what you're doing

  • Hi, what kind of paper you used? its not so white.. thanks..

  • @bersek23 Thank you for your interest. The Paper I use is 160 gram sand coloured Ingres pastel paper made by Fabriano.

    Regards Colin.

  • what brand of pencils are these?

  • @jandzownedu The pencils are called 'Pitt Pastel Pencils' and are made by Faber-Castell. Thank you for your interest regards Colin.

  • what kind of pastels do you use , as in brand?

Faber Castell?? I've been drawing with Prisma colored pencils for a couple years now.

But I've noticed that pastel pencils blend a lot better which is what I'm looking for.

    Do you recommend a brand?

  • @hana707chan Thank you for your interest. I Use Faber-Castell Pitt pastel pencils, they are the best.

    Kind regards

    Colin.

  • Please continue to talk and explain what you do with pastels. Excellent video demo. Its hard to learn from the ones with just music background. But I appreciate all your videos. I just prefer you talking us through the method of pastel.

  • hey colin

i was wondering if there's a difference in soft pastels and pastel pencils. i've been using soft pastels for several years but i still havent tried pastel pencils yet. i'm not too sure if there's a whole different set of techniques i'll need to learn, or if it's really just a matter of how detailed i want to go.

    thanks

  • @theTalkingRice Thank you for your interest. There is quite a difference between soft pastels and the pastel pencils this means that the techniques used are very different too. They are used more like watercolour than soft pastels, that is building them up from light to dark and laying foundation colours to soften the harshness of the strong colours etc. Kind regards Colin.

  • Many thanks!!!

  • @HereisyourMother Thank you for your interest, regards Colin.

  • I am going to use pastel pencils soon. Should I use a fixative for my finished work? Thank you.

  • @live4ever100 I don't recommend using afixative with the pastel pencil medium as it tends to dull the finished picture. I appreciate that this leaves the picture vunerable but if you are careful how you handle the picture you should be ok.

    Kind regards Colin.

  • @watercolormadeeasy Thank you so much for your kind answer.

  • Magnificent art, and a very informative presentation.

I draw ACEOs (baseball card-size pictures) with colored pencil, and trying to blend the colors to get TOTAL coverage of the paper is virtually impossible - particularly on such a small scale. I've used pastels in square stick form to do backgrounds, but find them too awkward to use for figures. Do you think pastel pencils will enable me to achieve 100% coverage AND the necessary small scale control?

  • @AnnihilatingAngel Thank you for your comment. I think you could find that the pastel pencils will do what you want, they are worth a try. Kind regards Colin.

  • Comedy AND expertise!

Those are great skills for an artist to possess!

    ;D

  • Your demonstrations are among some of the better instructional videos I've seen posted on youtube. Thank you for posting. I'm curious, do you also use soft pastel or Conte crayons?

  • Thank you for your kind comments.

I use Faber-Castell Pitt pastel pencils they are the best on the market. I prefer sand coloured Ingres pastel paper for all my work, it is made by Fabriano.

    Kind regards Colin.

  • man u paint so cool

what do u like more pastel or oil pastels ?

  • Thank you for your interest. I much prefer pastels over oil pastel as I like to blend the colours, I also like the chalky feel of pastel.

    Regards Colin.

  • is dat oil or chalk pastel

  • Thank you for your interest. The pencils I use are similar but harder than chalk stick pastels.

    Best regards Colin.
