Hi, being Dutch I have some advise; Every town in Holland with more then 70k of people is like this. Visit other cities man. Amsterdam is f-ed up. Crappy tourist weed for wich they over charge you. And too many people there will take advantage of you. You guys are all welcome here but if you really want to relax and not have the feeling you need to keep an eye out for your stuff at every second, avoid Amsterdam. Trust me.
I'm not sure it is entirely thanks to tourists but that's a whole different topic. Anyways, reading my comment you might be lead to think I meant that you should not come and visit coffee shops in Holland, please do but what I was trying to say is that there are many many other cities in Holland, all with coffee shops and red light districts and canals, but without the crap you are likely to get in Amsterdam. Visit those cities and you will get a better impression of Holland.

Maastricht in the lower south-east of holland (near the belgian / german border is very popular, but in most bigger towns you've got coffeshops ofcourse. But go outside amsterdam as well because theres al lot to see!

mushrooms are ilegal if they are dried , but you can buy it fresh in every headshop in ´Dam.
you can dry them if you want but also you can eat them fresh an have a blast , just read the instructions on the pack and dont take too much.

Dutch, but many also speak English. Ther are middle Eastern folks there who also will speak English. I tried to learn some basic Dutch "Thank you" "Please" "Is the Gray Haze really strong?"etc. to show I gave an effort to assimilate

Hi, being Dutch I have some advise; Every town in Holland with more then 70k of people is like this. Visit other cities man. Amsterdam is f-ed up. Crappy tourist weed for wich they over charge you. And too many people there will take advantage of you. You guys are all welcome here but if you really want to relax and not have the feeling you need to keep an eye out for your stuff at every second, avoid Amsterdam. Trust me.

I'm not sure it is entirely thanks to tourists but that's a whole different topic. Anyways, reading my comment you might be lead to think I meant that you should not come and visit coffee shops in Holland, please do but what I was trying to say is that there are many many other cities in Holland, all with coffee shops and red light districts and canals, but without the crap you are likely to get in Amsterdam. Visit those cities and you will get a better impression of Holland.

Maastricht in the lower south-east of holland (near the belgian / german border is very popular, but in most bigger towns you've got coffeshops ofcourse. But go outside amsterdam as well because theres al lot to see!
