  • Wow, I saw this about three years ago but I never knew why they were moving backwards and forwards...

    they're in a car.

  • Ich habe den Weihnachtsmann um diese DVD zu Weihnachten gebeten.

  • Und die Musik ist aus den 20ern. Beides zusammen passt einfach wunderbar. Ihr müsstet mal die eigentliche Choreo im Konzert sehen - einfach der Hammer!

  • I know you guys all know English, so here goes. I could not be more surprised to see so many postings of this great old song in German! And for many of us here in the States whose parents depended on President Roosevelt, it really brings back some strong feelings. But tell me: how do you guys get "weekend and sunshine" out of "happy days are here again"?

    -Eric, USA

  • Hi Eric, the source of it is for sure US based but there was only one year of difference when it was introduced with a new and different text in Gemany...

See: Wikipedia > Happy days are here again

    Cheers!

  • thanks for the insight. And I have to chuckle at how translations appear. You guys apparently call "harmonic comedians" what we now call "barbershop quartets" , though the latter term is relatively recent here....in the ''20s etc., we simply called them quartets.

  • @1276epr Eric, when you translate a song or a poem, you can keep either the meaning or the meter from the original language, but usually not both. Whoever translated "Happy Days" into German, decided to keep the meter so that the song would sound right. The translator had to change the meaning so that the words would fit the tune.

  • xD

  • Love it.

  • Super! Unser Chor hat das auch schon gesungen. Hat Spaß gemacht :-)

  • GaaaiL XD

    voll swiiht gemacht

  • Na, wie kreativ! Jetzt will ich mal in die Schweiz :P
