Damn, Sam just formally withdrew from the selection process for the 2009 Worlds. She going to go ahead and get surgery for her torn labrum that the commentators mentioned. Good decision for her though, she's looking to get healthy. But damn, first Nastia withdraws and now Sam.

I LOVEEE her!!! Beams amazing. would love to see her with a more difficult mount and changing the front aerial flic lay to front aerial flic layout salto. would give her a score and incredible boost (not that it needs it but shes totally capable of the skills).

I'm kinda confused about her first pass on floor. Havent seen a double back competed by elites in yrs. with the 1 1/2 it's only 0.1 in bonus (C+C indirect connection). Is it really worth it?

actually her double double will be back. she will most likely be working back up to it after her shoulder surgery. and we will see plenty of g elements at worlds.

I read on Sam's site that she is upgrading that 1.5 to double tuck to a 1.5 to double arabian front! (and doing a piked full-in in place of the double arabian in the middle of her routine)

I think Sam's my new favourite US gymnast:) It used to be Shawn last year but since she dropped out of the sport (at least in 2009) it disappointed me in a way.. Anyway Sam's deifinately an awesome gymnast! I think she should make it to the World's Team and even medal in the event finals:)

Seriously, I hate it when people compare Sam to Shawn. Other than their power, they have nothing in common. Shawn was cute and everything, but definitely not one of my favorite gymnasts. (I know I'm probably going to get thumbs down for this, but I don't care.)

Love love LOVING Sam this year. Did last year and the years before that, but she's really growing into a very mature, confident gymnast. That beam routine is kickass and should medal at worlds if she makes EF and hits. Brilliant.
