  • You just picked you're own team. This was so lame. Not even that big of an upset.

  • Until UNC Ashville does the impossible this year anyway.

  • URI over #1 Kansas 1998 NCAA tourney

  • Chaminade beating Virginia is hands down the best upset. Hands DOWN. Chaminade is NAIA and Virginia was #1 in the NCAA!

  • bucknell over kansas...best upset ever!!

  • Princeton over UCLA wasn't number 1. UCLA is just overrated.

  • Hampton VS #2 seed Iowa state was my favorite upset....my school won ;) lol

  • Biggest upset of all time in the first round of the NCAA Tournament was Santa Clara over Arizona in 1992, as 19.5-point underdogs.

Biggest upset in the Championship Game was Conneticut beating Duke as 9.5-point underdogs in 1999.

Still, these are some sweet upsets.

  • What was the G'town-'Nova spread in 1985? Cause that's seen as the biggest title game upset by many...

  • Georgetown was a 9-point favorite over Villanova in the 1985 Final.

Of note, Villanova played Georgetown twice previously that season and lost by 2 in overtime in the first meeting and lost by 7 in the second meeting.

  • The other often-quoted upsets are North Carolina St. over Houston in 1983 and Texas Western over Kentucky in 1966. North Carolina St. was a 7.5-point underdog and Texas Western was a 6-point underdog.

Georgetown-Villanova, North Carolina St.-Houston, and Texas Western-Kentucky have greater historical significance and thus are remembered as being "greater" upsets. However, Connecticut-Duke was the most unlikely one of them all.

  • if were talkin about the biggest tournament upset, villanova over gergetown, 1985 national championship hands down is the biggest upset

  • chaminade over virginia was the best, period.

an NAIA team over the NCAA #1 is just crazy

  • That's the best upset of all time, but this is talking about greatest first round NCAA Tourney upset.

  • @cheesyhippie7 that wasn't NCAA tourney though. it was at the Maui Invit.

  • Chaminade had beaten the University of Hawaii by 17 points and were playing at home, so it's not quite as crazy as it might seem.

Not sure what the spread would've been but I would imagine it would've been under 20 points.

  • Saw this game live when I was ten years old, I still can't believe I witnessed what I saw that night, while sitting next to Ray Buchannon....After all this time I still remember that last back cut lay-up like it was yesterday. What a game!

  • Great memory. Only one quibble: Gregory says "It was Pete Carril's LAST GAME." It was his last victory, but as history sadly relates, the Tigers lost to Mississippi State in their next game. The less said about that, the better. But the UCLA game, man. Was, is, one of the highlights of my sports watching life.

  • idk if its what the ppl meant but it was "supposed" to be his last game, not really expecting the upset.

  • Dec. 23, 1982

    Chaminade 77

    #1 Virgina 72

Best upset ever, you're right rangermccain, but that was a regular season game, and this video is talking about the best March Madness upset ever. Still, I think they're wrong. My favorite was Weber State over UNC in '99.

  • weber state shot the freakin lights out in that game. UNC got pwned.

  • No way !! Chaminade of Hawaii was the greatest basketball upset ever. There isn't even a comparison

  • Too bad that game was not a first round upset in the NCAA Tournament as the video states....

  • lol
