Which is actually not hypocritical. An analogy would be being against hate speeches, but opposing legislation that would stop freedom of speech. One can oppose an action, while believing that the freedom to act or not to act is more important. It really comes down to what one places more weight on in regards to the issue at hand. As evidenced by the country-at-large, there is a large portion of supporters on either side.
