それにしてもなんで「アントニオ猪木」や「ジャイアント馬場」や「キラーカーン」とか他のレスラーじゃないのか？どうして「長州力」なのか？発売当時何も説明が無かった気がする。
そんでまたなぜかハドソンソフトのゲーマー兼社員であるはずの「高橋名人」が当ゲームのCMで「俺も、新人類！」って叫んでいた。

Nope just the Japanese version of Dino Riki.

Why is it called "New Type"? Is that just the title, or was there a previous edition?

It's just the subtitle. "The New Type" is a reference to the "newtypes" of Gundam, who were the next step in evolution. "Shin Jinrui" (the kanji title) means "new humanity" so I'm guessing the main character is meant to be the first human.
