this is ridiculous you have a real scientist debating some dumb cunt with a degree in political science, I hardly think she has anything to say on the matter worth bringing to the table
you can always tell when she is in a debate the other person makes a good point she shakes her head and you can see that she has that "it not listening, im not listening" look
Charmaine is a great spokesperson for life. And Conservatives will be taking over the presidency and the congress by 2012 so that this country can be put back on its feet. And I pray we move to reverse Roe v Wade and make abortion illegal and punishable as the murder degree 1 that it is.
Seems pretty normal to me. And it's called a Christian. You can be religious about anything. The U.S. was founded on Christian Biblical principles. As the U.S. falls further and further from its roots, it will fall from the grace of God and will no longer be protected by Him. And when it is too late, you'll wished you had listened to such "religious wack jobs."
look up the Treaty of Tripoli: Which clearly states we are NOT a christian country. Mostly all of our founding fathers were SECULARISTS! Also you should note that the fastest growing group of people in the US is non-religious. You can worship any fairy tale you like, but we will not let you force your values on us. Abortion will never be completely illegal. I suggest you look up what happens in countries with illegal abortions, you will be horrified what they do to unwanted babies.
Are you referring to article 11? There is substantial evidence this article never existed. I've never seen the Treaty of Tripoli placed with the D. of Independence, the Constitution, etc. Not exactly a founding document. Abortionists (pro-choice) are forcing their "beliefs." Do you believe that murder is okay? If so, by all means promote abortion. But per T. Jefferson, all have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. "All" includes the unborn child - a distinct, unique person.
And call it a fairy tale all you like. I'm sure whatever your faith is in, be it atheism or some other god, I can find ample reason to label it "fairy tale."
Wrong, you couldn't call my belief a fairy tale. I'm agnostic, and i only look at physical evidence. You cant prove a creator, just as you can't disprove it yet with our current findings. To say one way or another is incredibly ignorant. And the treaty sure does exist, we had Algiers as a third-party witness. Also, you cannot prove that an unborn child is a living human. Like i said, i think you should see what happens in countries with outlawed abortions. You would be horrified.
So you accept ignorance due to a supposed lack of physical evidence. Might want to take a Biblical history lesson. Funny how there are thousands of prophecies in the Bible that later became true - and this is proveable/documented. Our founders believed in freedom from government-mandated religion - that all should be free to worship as they choose - and that freedom is in no way to be shut down by the government. But that they used Biblical principles, such as in bankruptcy law, is undeniable.
Every scientist would agree the unborn child alive. Science defines individuality by unique DNA. So scientifically, the unborn child is a living human. Therefore, by definition abortion is murder. That premise immediately deems more than 99% of abortions punishable as murder degree 1 - cut and dry cases. Rape cases - maybe a lesser crime of passion? Life/death of the mother - maybe not punishable at all? Debate away. But the premise holds true: abortion is murder.
@BluJugganaut So at what point to you make the transition from "collection of DNA" to "living breathing...being"? I said "every scientist...agree the unborn child is alive." Obviously that doesn't mean they all agree with my assertion that killing the unborn child is murder. But the fact that the cells are alive means that by definition the unborn child is alive. The real question: Is the unborn child an autonomous being? The answer: yes. The proof: DNA.
@BluJugganaut So are you admitting that the "collection of cells" is a living breathing being?
A "working, functional brain" is 100% subjective. At what point is this status achieved?
The definition of "human" is simply Homo Sapien - which is achieved day one, cell one, at conception. Life AND humanity begin at conception. The unborn baby deserves the same right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and the same protection under the law as you and I.
A working functional brain has to have neaurons, for a start, and all the main components like the hypothalamus, Cerebrum, pituatary Gland, etc... It must also work independantly.
And once again, a collection of cells is not a baby. No where near. A collection of cells is NOT an unborn baby. It's SIMPLY a collection of cells with no instinct, independent life, or learned behaviours. It is therefore NOT a human being.
@BluJugganaut Your definition is still subjective. Some babies develop faster than others. You cannot arrive at an exact time, say 3 months after conception when your definition moves the cells into human status. Yes, a collection of cells, actually even just one cell, is a baby. It is an autonomous human being.
And calling someone else's beliefs a fairy tale is purely opinion. I can easily call your agnosticism a fairy tale. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Your failure to recognize anything beyond that which you deem physically evident (faith in science) I call living in a fairy tale.

@Absolute21Truth There is quite a difference between a collection of DNA, and a living breathing multicellular being.
Also, you can't just say that all scientists agrees with you. Is a collection of unspecialised cells a living being?

@Absolute21Truth Bacteria is alive. It has DNA. Should we avoid killing all bacteria too?
A collection of cells is not yet human. A human, IMO, is one that has a working, functional brain. A collection of cells does not have that.
