I don't care too much about how much wax I use. Just as long as the application is practical. A glob of wax is much easier to apply than a tiny bit. The wax on the rivet doesn't do any harm so there is really no need to leave it out.
One thing I like to do is use as little wax as possible and really work on dampening the reed to the point that it is almost going flat. I guess I don't worry about the rivet so much as where the reed and rivet meet. Thanks for the great videos and amazing website!

How thick are you slicing it? About 1/8th- 1/16th inch?
