This version is definately the best here on you tube - unfortunately too short! It's my song because sort of an English translation of my name. I love all these Scotisch (and also Irisch) traditional songs I got to know from my primary school teacher in Australia.
That's a great guitar, I first saw one at a folk festival.. Charlie Zahm plays the J-10 almost exclusively. Shame they don't make them anymore, I'd like to buy one someday.
I was just learning to use the camera and the video software. I was still using a free, unlicensed version (hence the ad text in the middle of the screen). But I posted the "demo" and it's been playing - so I left it up as is.
it that was you singing the you must have used the origonal words cause i dont remember some of the words when i had to sing it for an audition of mine
i play this song with a band at school, but we're an orchestra(let's say) and i play the flute. it's the first time i hear this version. we play a scottish ballade.
My name is Annie Laurie, and I was named after this Scottish lullabye -- my mother used to sing it to me as a child, and I would always cry... thank you for this beautiful acoustic rendition - yes, I cried again!!!!
I'm so inlove with the song, gives me shivers. I've only heard it from CEDIE, a cartoon series, and I've been trying to know what the title was for many years. Only got it from youtube.
We posted a video using a live recording of you singing Wild Mountain Thyme instead. They are both lovely, but we had to use the best recording for the video.
The J10 was Larrivee's top of the line Jumbo. I believe it is the best designed guitar body I've ever played! I love the sound of Jumbos - but this one was clearly the best one ever! Larrivee is still a smallish guitar maker, by mass production standards anyway - and Jumbos are not big selling guitars - so it has been dropped from the Larrivee line (sad to say). Mine has a too many hard miles on it now. I also play a Larrivee L09. to decrease the hard use on my Jumbo.
When I reviewed Jed's "Mainly Scots" album I got hung up on this song....took me an hour to get past it to the next one. He has a remarkbly delicate touch.
beautiful man. I sang this for an audition, and the scotish quality wasnt there. I am of scotish heritage, but im not in touch with it at. Instead of "ne'er forgot will be" rhyming with "lay me dine and dee", i did "forget will I" and "lay me down and die".
thnx jed it reminds me alo of thing .. my childhood and evrything thnx alot and that was so amazing and beautiful nice voice too. takcre and thnx! i added u in my favorites
I love this song, Jed!

Gosh these old folk tunes are something special. There's something so warm and pure about them and modern music owes so much to them.
