  • I love this song, Jed!

  • sta cancion me hace recordar a mi amado Terry

  • Beautiful plying and singing. Top man!

  • Wow sir, very well done. Much better than most wankers on youtube.

  • great guitar!

  • beautiful

  • This version is definately the best here on you tube - unfortunately too short! It's my song because sort of an English translation of my name. I love all these Scotisch (and also Irisch) traditional songs I got to know from my primary school teacher in Australia.

  • Gosh these old folk tunes are something special. There's something so warm and pure about them and modern music owes so much to them.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Well done my friend, great tune**********

    Regards Bertil

  • Well done my friend, great tune**********

    Regards Bertil

  • well done.... i love it.. 5 star ma frend

  • That's a great guitar, I first saw one at a folk festival.. Charlie Zahm plays the J-10 almost exclusively. Shame they don't make them anymore, I'd like to buy one someday.

  • I knew I liked Charlie Zahm! Obviously a smart fella with discerning taste in guitars!!

    ;-)

Yes; I love that guitar. I have an L09 which is also a beautiful guitar, but I love my J10!

  • nice one

  • Ooops...just spotted it's in open d - my error - too taken with the beauty of the music.

Going to check out your other stuff...

  • A beautiful version my friend - are you in open tuning?

    Lovely guitar too.

    Kenny - Fife,

  • could u send the chords to me?thank u...

  • sweet!

  • Cedie!

  • short but very nice Jed! it has the taste for more...

  • Soooo nice! why so short?

  • I was just learning to use the camera and the video software. I was still using a free, unlicensed version (hence the ad text in the middle of the screen). But I posted the "demo" and it's been playing - so I left it up as is.

  • it that was you singing the you must have used the origonal words cause i dont remember some of the words when i had to sing it for an audition of mine

  • you are good.. i love you..c;

  • I really like this song.

We are singing it for my choir. [8th grade]

  • this is very nice!!! SO BEAUTIFUL:)

i play this song with a band at school, but we're an orchestra(let's say) and i play the flute. it's the first time i hear this version. we play a scottish ballade.

  • Yet another beautiful tune. Thanks Jed!

  • nice!!

    i love this song!!

do u have or planning to make the tab for this song?

  • No Tab, I'm not tab guy - don't how to write or read it. There may be tabs out there for this song, though. In this vid I play it open tuning.

  • ok...

  • the guitar rings like a bell, even capoed so high. Beautiful playing and singing.

  • o wow talented!!! :) :) (8) wow!!

  • great job there.. haiz,, this video take my stress away,, keep it up sir,, more power and thank you for uploading

  • Nicely done! When you say "open D tuning," is that DADGAD?

  • It is similar to DADGAD - it is actually DADF#AD

  • Fabulous jed well done - we are fretting over this song and I was so glad to be able turn to you for inspiration

  • Fine video - beautiful song!

  • Thanks!

  • My name is Annie Laurie, and I was named after this Scottish lullabye -- my mother used to sing it to me as a child, and I would always cry... thank you for this beautiful acoustic rendition - yes, I cried again!!!!

  • It is a beautiful name and a beautiful song. Thanks for your comments!

  • :) I'm directly descended from her. Thank you, that was gorgeous.

  • laiebchbum,

You wouldn't be related to Annie Laurie Spencer by any stretch would you?

    Just wondering.

  • amazing

  • I am so in love with the Larrivee J10. I wish they still made them. Nice job.

  • really lovely. thanks.

  • I'm so inlove with the song, gives me shivers. I've only heard it from CEDIE, a cartoon series, and I've been trying to know what the title was for many years. Only got it from youtube.

  • I got shivers after playing that same guitar at guitar center today. Great playing.

  • Beautifully done...my girl is Laurie Kathleen...and this song makes me miss her very much...she is as beautiful as this song.

  • Lovely rendition. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow - listen to that guitar ring! I think if you let it, it would ring until next week!

  • nice...

  • very nice. (o:

  • Love the video, Jed.

I hope to post a live version soon of you, Brian and Hugh playing this song - from the festival last week.

See you next year, if not sooner!

  • Cool! Let me know when you get it posted.

  • We posted a video using a live recording of you singing Wild Mountain Thyme instead. They are both lovely, but we had to use the best recording for the video.

  • i'd lay me doon and dee... Perfectly sung.

    BTW

Her brow is like the snowdrift, her throat is like the swan, and her face it is the fairest, that err the sun shone on.

That err the sun shone on, and dark blue is her eye, and for Bonnie Annie Laurie, I'd...

  • and the last verse:

Like the dew on the gowan lyin'

Is the fall of her fairy feet

And like the wind in the summer sighing

Her voice is low and sweet

Her voice is low and sweet and she's all the world to me and for Bonnie Annie Laurie, I'd...

  • awesome!

  • 5 stars. i love this piece

  • I always liked the song, but really like your arrangement. Your playing gets better and better.

  • You already know how much I love that song. Thank you for this.

  • Very nicely played. Is the guitar a OM10 Larrivee ?

  • The guitar is a J10.

  • The J10 was Larrivee's top of the line Jumbo. I believe it is the best designed guitar body I've ever played! I love the sound of Jumbos - but this one was clearly the best one ever! Larrivee is still a smallish guitar maker, by mass production standards anyway - and Jumbos are not big selling guitars - so it has been dropped from the Larrivee line (sad to say). Mine has a too many hard miles on it now. I also play a Larrivee L09. to decrease the hard use on my Jumbo.

  • bravo..absolutely beautiful..=')

  • omg beautiful great voice thank you so much!

i clapped at the end =]

  • lovely, just lovely. my irish mother used to sing this to us to sleep. sacrilege.

  • it's a scottish folk song lolz.

    very pretty though =]

  • My Irish Mother had a grim song that she used. Her theory was repetition one million times would put us to sleep regardless of the lyrical content.

  • absolutely beautiful, i have a video of that same song

  • I have always liked that song

  • i love it.. thank you...

it reminds me of my ex girlfriend who died of cancer...

where did you get the tabs???

  • No Tabs. There be some around but I don't use Tabs. This is a simple arrangement using Vestapol tuning, capoed high for that music box effect.

  • nice! sounds great!

    lyk it! hehe

  • When I reviewed Jed's "Mainly Scots" album I got hung up on this song....took me an hour to get past it to the next one. He has a remarkbly delicate touch.

    Royce

  • beautiful man. I sang this for an audition, and the scotish quality wasnt there. I am of scotish heritage, but im not in touch with it at. Instead of "ne'er forgot will be" rhyming with "lay me dine and dee", i did "forget will I" and "lay me down and die".

this makes me wish i was a good scot.

  • My name is Annie Laurie! Never knew this song existed. ;-)

  • I know, great traditional song, you're great. Thank's for your comment in my video.

  • Oooops! I mean capo 7 for the music box effect!

  • i skipped a whole verse come to think of it,,

    im smaartt

    haha

  • thnx jed it reminds me alo of thing .. my childhood and evrything thnx alot and that was so amazing and beautiful nice voice too. takcre and thnx! i added u in my favorites

  • Love it, thanks Jed

  • it remids me of my childhood memories while watching little prince cedie

  • Bbbeeautiful guitar and beautiful sound, good singing too.I am glad I own one a L09.

  • Jed is the best in his corner of the music world. Thanks for spending all that great time pickin' with us amateurs at Windham, summer of '06
