Personally, i think the appetite is much better, the finish is better and it is a perfect copy of a symbolic guitar that was used on one of the best rock albums ever made. Dont get me wrong, this guitar is great but the apetite has the edge.

I had the same guitar about a year ago, however, mine had no Graphix. I returned mine because the 16th fret bar was not centered correctly. I then bought the 1968 Les paul custom re-issue. Even though it is a much more luxurious guitar, it can never beat that slash signature. One of the best tones ever..........

@rosjger1 There isn't a bit of difference between a Gibson and a Epiphone except the name. I have a Epiphone SG that plays just as good (and sounds as good) as Gibson SG guitars that i've played. I would rather have a Epiphone because you get the same thing as a Gibson but at a third of the price!

Yeah, i've played few epiphones with duncan alnico pro2's and they kinda sucked. I've got a Gibson lp standard faded with duncan alnico pro 2 humbs and the sound is just pure awesome.

I liked the responsiveness of the pickups though so when I bought a gibson I put in seymour duncan alnico 2 pros in it and you wouldnt believe the difference between the gibson and epiphone with the same pickups

if you're looking for a budget guitar, get and epiphone les paul standard. for about 600$, you can get a high end epiphone, or, for 1600$. you can get a low end gibson.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but years ago I had a 70's Gibson Les Paul Standard, tobacco finish. It was (and still is) the best "Paul" I have ever played. Stupidly, because I was young, I sold it, and have regretted it ever since. I paid $450 dollars for it new! MOST of the Epi's and Gibsons I try at the stores are like balsa wood dipped in plastic compared to the 70's models. Even the $2'000+ ones.  Kids just have no idea nowdays.

Funny enough, I recently found a Jay Turser Les Paul copy with a really nice Tobacco "Tea"finish for $130 at Music Go-Round. To my disbelieve this guitar is actually very similar in looks, feel and tone to my old 1975 Gibson. After a bit of setup, it plays like a dream. For $130 you could put in any pickups you want, or change the hardware and still come out WAY ahead. Of course it doesn't have a trendy guitar players signature scrawled across the top in magic marker though... I'm just sayin.

he's the best, and really cool too. i went to the guitar sessions with slash in northridge at the guitar center, so cool, but insanly crowded, waited in line for 11 hours!

I remember when he signed my Gibson. I think he only signed it because I had worked so hard to make it look like his. I looked up pics of his Holy Grail Les Paul with the cigarette burns and the dents. And actually damaged my own GIBSON Les Paul to look exactly like his. I remember what he said to me: "Hey man, this looks just like mine. What combination did you use?" I laughed my ass off. Slash is the best man.

This guitar is over priced because Slash endorsed it. Obviously this guitar is meant for the die hard Slash followers that are naive to think he would actually play this guitar on stage.

You want a better sound for less? Buy a stock Epiphone, go to a Guru guitar shop that knows how to wire and install pick-ups and pots. For 1/2 the money you'd spend on this you could get a guitar that fits your sound.

I prefer EMG 81 pick ups for their gritty sound or Dimarzio for their all around feel.
