Anyone that is interested in the Ys series. Should consider getting Ys 3 for the Sega Genesis. This is the game that got me into the series. I was playing this game. Back when the Sega Genesis was one of the top systems.

I didn't like the move to 3D with the 4th installment. For some reason, I never got around to playing the first two Ys games either. I liked the 2D style of the Ys series. 3D just makes it a completely different creature.

@lanceknightmare - Actually, 3D didn't change the series much at all -- you just happened to play the one game that was COMPLETELY different from any of the others. Ys III plays nothing like any other Ys title before or since, and is a bit of an oddity overall. Some people love it (myself included), but it's largely considered one of the worst games in the series, and has been rendered all but obsolete by its remake version "Ys: The Oath in Felghana."

@Wyrdwad i play both version of ys3 (snes and pc). usually people love snes version bcoz it's a "good old days"... but imo the pc version better in term of gameplay and music, the strong point of ys games.

@forevercyrus Clearly you have not heard any of the other games. Theres no such thing as bad music in Ys. Only music more awesome then the others.(I've only played the ones I could get my hands on, being Chronicles 1&2, 7, and Oath in Felghana)

This game led me to buying YS 1 & 2 on DS, YS Seven Platinum Edition, Oath of Felghana platinum, and soon I'm getting YS Origin, YS vs Sora no Kiseki, and Sora no Kiseki the first for 2011. I love you Falcom! :D

So far I've beaten Ys VI and Ys III. I'll topple Ys, Ys II, Ys IV and Ys V (when I get ahold of a completed English patch). I LOOOOVE this track! I swear, it's music like this that makes a game legendary. Adol is right up there with Link, Cloud, Squall, Dante, Sora... you name it. :)

I remember when I tried this game for the first time. I was crossing the woods of Quatrera with that calm melody, and I thought: Meh! nothing special, but then I face the first boss and after that music the game started to rock!
