I've never played Oblivion and i'm downloading it now. Are these the must-have mods for a 1st time player? I've also got the Deluxe GOTY Edition off Steam, will all these work with that version?

@Asgerstang Why don't you try it? You should be able to but I can't guarantee your frame rate will be good. If its not, lower the resolution.

@Ondori412 I use the original oblivion dvd... I don't see what you are asking? The only thing that will be different is where your oblivion folder is. Mine is in C:\Program Files\Bethesda softworks\Oblivion. So you extract mods to that folder (though I wouldn't recommend manually doing it, use something like oblivion mod manager instead). The guy doing this video has his oblivion game in another directory since he uses steam.

I've spent YEARS tweaking all of my mods to be completely perfect, I thought I was the only one that considered modding the game more fulfilling and more of a hobby then the actual game :P

Noob question #1 - Installed the same version of OBMM but I see a lot more DLC*.esp files in the manager than what you are showing at ~8:50. Tried to post a link to screencap but YouTube won't allow. Should I leave them or uncheck them? If they're ok to keep, should they be loaded before or after your other files? Thanks again for the great tutorials.

@thinkforaminute you're welcome! Hmm I don't know about the extra esp files. You should only have a few (knights of the nine and shivering isles, besides the main oblivion one). If you can capture your screen and stick it into a video file, then just upload to youtube under your account and I can see it then.

@thinkforaminute you most likely have the Digital Deluexe version. Whcih includes all the DLC released to date. Game of the Year edition only included Nights of Nine and Shivering Isles. @culveyhouse

@thinkforaminute If you have the Game of the Year Deluxe (which is the steam GOTY one) then you'll have all 9 official DLC. Google "uesp oblivion official plug-ins" for details.

@thinkforaminute you probably got all of the DLCs, he doesnt. i got many esm files as well, they are all of the DLCs that came with the Game of The Year Edition that i bought from steam. Just dont forget to put them as close to the bottom as you can when you finish your modding cause if you dont you are gonna have some troubles finishing those quests with lots of crashes. but always leave the "Bash Patch" below them. Just in case you didnt figure that out by yourself since you made this coment

@McRepeee ;) Another trick that a lot of my viewers do is to start the vid, then click pause, then come back in 30 minutes. By then, the whole thing streams.

@danlevm1 i wouldn't try to mod skyrim right away. bethesda will distribute additional content for the game and patch/tweak the game for at least 1 year maybe 2 years. if you mod right away unless you're installing some kind of trivial mod, bigger more complex mods can cause conflicts with official mods and patches. if you're going to mod right after release be prepared to reinstall your game because it will explode. also it will take some time for the good mods to appear on skyrimnexus.

@feideng1981 very good point. I am actually going to play Vanilla-Rim for about 20 videos, then by that time, there might be some decent must-have mods. I'll start trying them out and incorporating them if I deem them essential and bug-free. :)

note to all who are installing mods. install UOP 3.2.0 & USIP 1.4.0 & UOMP v15. these are the unofficial patches made by Quarn and Kivan to patch oblivion & shivering isles & all other official plug-ins for oblivion. these are a must install because they fix THOUSANDS of the remaining bugs in oblivion left unpatched after bethesda stopped patching the game officially. this patch will fix everything from crashes to graphical glitches to quest bugs to fps drops to etc to etc.

@feideng1981 There's also the Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplemental which picks up where UOP left off years ago. Instead of listing version numbers Google "uesp oblivion recommended mods" which will give the latest versions for all required bug fix mods.
