Hey Robert, sweet nylon my brutha. Would you mind answering a question for me? How many guitars do you own, and which guitar did you sell hat you wish you hadn't? Much respect and thanks.
I think the scratchy tone is definitely a unique thing thatd suit me. but I dont like Gibson acoustics too much. Im glad Im starting to you Mr. Conti. You are truly a blessed and gifted player. :D this is awesome. :D
@guitarslim56 What its the &%¤#%&¤#best..sounds bad??
You are kidding..I tell ya..aA squid with hands couldnt do it better..
My whole next life will go to b as good. As i am to old now..
scratcy ...Oh god grief its from 69..robert conti you are my absolute favorit..Best sounds i have ever heard..wish i could get your ears..though i might look pretty stupid with two set of ears
@guitarslim56 This video was made in 1969. The guitar was one of the very first Gibson nylon string guitars to hit the market. At that point in time, it was the best available with a built in pickup.
I was a student of Robert Conti from 1966 to 1970. I remember when these videos were aired in Jacksonville Florida. It was in the early morning and I got up early to watch. I was never able to play close to his skill level, but still play occasionally for my own entertainment. I really enjoyed the 1969 videos.... brought back great memories.
My father was a student of his for I believe 5 or 6 years, I forget. But I remember when he first showed me these videos and I was blown away. You are both very lucky to have been mentored by him during the time of this. Erik Lundgren is my father, maybe you've heard of him.
That is some of the most ham-fisted handling of a classical guitar I have seen on You tube. It's a big stretch from an archtop to classical. Kudos to him for getting out there and stretching himself. though.
My guess is that the mike was vibrationg against the wood of the guitar, the plinky guitar sound is so terrible that even with his thick fingers and unintentional plucking/pulling of the strings you cannot explain the awful sound in the first tune, the rest is wonderful.
Hello and thanks for your comment. These clips were captured from very old archived VHS tape, not the original source so the quality of both the audio and video are lacking. In addition, Youtube compresses the video even more when it's uploaded.

Had a feeling he studied Classical Guitar, The way he holds his Jazz box.
Excerpts from Prelude 1 and 3 . comp. Villa Lobos.
Problem with Classical Guitar is it can De-rail from being a responsive guitarist.
Their way of theorizing is bad. But, It's Great When You Study Jazz theory and techniques first, Like Conti Did.

Someone needed to check the intonation of their guitar before they took it on stage...still awesome performance, though.
