I bought a 12-hole plastic Zelda Tenor from them as sort of an entry thing, like "do I like the feel of playing this?" without the risk of getting not getting use out of the item if I didn't like playing. The prices on their website are just so good and I like several of their designs, I'm just a little worried I won't know if I get a dud...

@redfire2k1 That depends on who you bought it from, what key its in, if the instrument is in good shape, etc. I have a plastic 12-hole tenor ocarina and from what I hear plastics are generally a little shriller or have a breathy sound (I've noticed this on very high notes but that might just be my lack of breath control). They sound fine and are good for practise or taking to a friend or family members house. =)

I saw the movie again, and my memory was correct: Melody has an Ocarina that has a twistable um.. dunno what it does-thingy on the side.

Does those kinds really exist?

Because I'd want one as a collectible, but if it's playable, then I'd want to play it as well.

@Aramilization It depends on which ocarinas you're looking at. Price, pitch rage, and what the ocarina looks like are all important things to take into consideration.

12 holes can play more notes than the 10 hole, if being able to have more notes is important to you than I would choose a 12 hole.

@sonichaven STL Ocarina has some for 35-60$ for a normal shape, getting more expensive as the pitch deepens. They also have several pendant ocarinas you could pick from.
