I also drive a (stock)G40, it's one of the most underrated cars i've ever driven. The first time i drove against other "fast" cars(honda civic vti and type R, golf GTI, Bmw 530d,...) I was like WTF, these things are fast. Especially 0 to 160 km/h. After owning it for 6 years it still gives me the G-smiles. I love my G40 and I will never sell it.

Very well tuned G40.

The Type R goes the 0-100 km/h in 6,6 seconds.

Polo G40 was sold in 1991 with 8,6 seconds by 113 HP.

There must have been some modifations.

I have G40, too. No Turbo but a lot of mods.

175 HP and Vmax of 233 km/h (GPS Proofed).

Hi! Didn't you see the video description? It states the mods for both cars. As you surely know even a mildly modded G40 (smaller pulley & few other mods) is much, much faster than stock. My humble G40 that has a few mods (65mm pulley, SNS chip & GT manifold) is able to keep up with a 335d (286hp) up to 140-150kph. Even I couldn't believe it! :)

I've owned 4 G40's so far and like us many will never forget this fantastic little hot-hatch that was very popular here in Portugal. Cheers!

Although, we raced a bmw 316 (i think) on our way home from jönköping, and he really tried hard to catch us (which he didnt) We probably raced him/them around 5-6 times and each time you could see them shift down while i stayed in 5th gear and passing them.

Como está referido na descrição do video o G40 não está stock... Tem polie + pequena e outras pequenas mods. Tem que se ter em conta tb que o CTR tb n está propriamente stock... Por último o G40 é cerca de 400kg mais leve que o CTR...

It's a CTR w/K20A2 200hp engine. The G had the "usual" mods: 55m puley + GT intake manifold + chip + maybe a few more tweaks here and there but nothing major. Real power output should be around 150hp for 800 kilos...

it was a 2.0 litre 8 valve. its a renault engine i think. think its about 110 hp but the tourque is very high. and being 8 valve revved so quickly.

If your talking about the polo its a 1.3 supercharger 8v VW engine with 113bhp standard actually. Probably with a few mods, these engines can achieve 160bhp quite easily with a few grand spent on them. The main advantage is the lightweight.

I have a newish Golf GTi, but as a second car for fun only i'v got a polo 1.3 GT, with just 90bhp (got a vid on my account) but still has fun overtaking beemer 2.2s. and such like, great fun little cars, soon will be putting a G40 engine in. but for around 700quid, cheap tax, cheap insurance, and big smiles when out doing 25grand cars, i wouldn't complain.

Bullshit. The driver of the Civic Type-R needs to learn how to change gear before the rev limiter and use the cars powerband correctly. My CTR will do 14.5s @ 98.88 at the moment but that more my limitation than the car as it was my first ever 1/4 mile session. A Standard G40 struggles to get into even the low 16's so unless the one in the video is bristling with Flux Capacitors and a supercharger the size of my house, the CTR driver is at fault.

Ultim8Evil i hate to say it but your right, i pissed all over CTR's when my car was 158 bhp, now my g40 is 170+ bhp ( due to BIG internal mods ) and i only get awya slightly if the guy in the ctr knows how to drive. all in all the ctr is a good package for your money but i really doubt its as fun to drive as a G40 is, dont knock them till you drive one lol its just a bag of laughes gonig past everything in a tin can

Have to agree with antoniusB - drove modified G40 for 3 years. No problems at all with responsible driving and acceleration like hell, no real traction in 3rd gear with full throttle. and the G-Lader sound is so awesome. It isnt a real sportscar but it is a small fun rocket for sure! This goes all with about 7 ltr. gas per 100 km. Shouldn't have sold it..
