The first sound is the shots impacting the ground

the second sound is the gau8 firing, yes firing.

The shots hit the ground before the sound of the gun firing actually reaches you.

There is no point in using a silencer with bullets that are traveling faster than sound because you still hear the sonic boom as the bullet exits the end of the barrel. Silenced or suppressed weapons always use ammunition that travels slower than sound. The purpose of the silencer is not to "silence" the bullets but to muffel the sound of the gas escaping as it pushes the round out of the end of the barrel.

A-10 - that's about 75-100 30 mm HE bullets - each about the explosive power of a hand grenade.

The A-10 fires three different rounds. API = Armor Piercing Incendiary for tanks, etc. HE - High Explosive Incendiary - buildings, personnel, etc. TP = Target Practice. There are only HE rounds in Afghanistan.

The A-10's gun has a very distinctive sound. The 30mm gun has a decidedly lower pitch than the smaller 20mm.

Well I used to hear the ac-130's practicing at a military range (mostly at night... the most amazing sound!) and it may be just me, but I think the ac-130's cannon sounds lower (or maybe I'm just hearing a lower rate of fire?) -- but I can hear the turbofans (very distinctive from "turbofans" --come one you cannot mix a c-130 up with an a-10 the is just plane idiocy!) of an a-10 in this vid it is definitely an a-10 no doubt about it

Thats crazy. All of those explosions happen so fast, before you can even hear the a10 firing at you. Then after all of those dozens of grenade-sized explosions, you hear that evil zziipp and roar of the 30mm on the a10.. That combination of explosions without warning, then the screaming death sound of the gun afterwards would be truly frightening if your on the wrong end of that.
