Even if the army initiated the idea to tear down the statue, it isn't as if they paid a bunch of actors to do the job. I'd bet the civilians that participated were happy to do it. At that moment in the invasion it wouldn't have been worth the risk to run out and do such an act without the occupying military sanctioning it anyways. My husband served with the USMC unit that helped get the statue down. This video short is very biased. That was NOT what happened. I feel the war is BS and so does he, but this particular event was not as "scripted" as this propaganda film portrays it.

Even if the army initiated the idea to tear down the statue, it isn't as if they paid a bunch of actors to do the job. I'd bet the civilians that participated were happy to do it. At that moment in the invasion it wouldn't have been worth the risk to run out and do such an act without the occupying military sanctioning it anyways. I'm glad to see the entire truth here but it's not a significant story.

Two of my buddies from the US Army was right there at the statue and they said they had to back away because the crowd rushed in to hit Sadams face with their shoes, which is a major insult. So what? They had people there who could speak multiple languages, and they put the american flag up temporarily on purpose before we took it down and put up the iraqi flag because it was to show we had it and we give it back to you. This video is an outright lie. If you read the book "The Shooter" by Jack Coughlin you will find out the truth to this story and where that Iraqi flag came from. It was a soldier in his unit that placed the US Flag over Saddam's face and they acquired an Iraqi flag (used pre-Saddam era with different markings) while in Iraq and that is the Iraqi flag you see in the video at the end. I get tired of propoganda and will believe a story from first hand accounts before that crap.
