There has never been a Thomas Brown Hewitt related to any killings or murders. The story this movie was based on was of Ed Gein, a psychotic murderer who did such things as make bowls out of his victims skull, and couches made from their bones. While this footage nor the movie is factual, the real story is more chilling.

This film, like most re-makes of classic horror films sucks hard. It captures none of the mayhem, insanity or sheer dread of the original. Why do the writers of these re-makes insist on giving the killer the typical "innocent child suffers horrible abuse" backstory? It robs the character of the mystery that makes him so frightening in the first place.

Leatherface was based from a real serial killer namely Ed Gein (whom fictional killers Norman Bates from "Psycho" & Buffalo Bill of Silence of the Lambs also based). Ed Gein was sure a real life horrible serial killer close to Leatherface character, BUT the "chainsaw" way of killing was purely fictional.

TCM tagline was "Based on a true story". This isint true at all. The makers used false advertising to boost the hype for their movie. But of course "based on a true story" could just have 1 thing in common and then just say fuck what actuly happened. It was inspired by Ed Gein skinning bodies. Well yes its true that the movie is inspired by Edward Gein, so according to the records, the texas chainsaw massacre never happend, BUT WAIT, after a few years from the 50's, bizarre mass murderers in Texas were reported with the use of axes and chainsaws across the state of Texas and yes they did found dead corpses decapitated evidence of macabres, so even though it was a movie based on Ed Gein, it still happend in Texas on Chainsaw mass murderers. The oringal Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie came out in 1974. It was an independent film written by Kim Henkel who was a screenwriting professor at Texas A&M in Corpus Christi. Henkel finished the script and got support from Tobe Hooper, who is a director that worked with Spielberg on the Poltergeist. They raised $140,000 for the film's budget and casted aspiring actors from the University of Texas at Austin to star in the film. The movie (1974 original) has made over $30 million in gross revenue.
