  • Yes, I remember it. There were so many great advertising jingles back in the 50's and 60's. That is a great background picture you have with it.

  • there's a book by a san jose architectural critic (alan hess)called Googie-named for a famous, gone coffee shop on sunset blvd-i think there's a shot of one in there-also a book about the years 1954-1964 called 'populuxe'-about how those years were a cultural adolescence-its author is thomas hine-both great books

  • Thanks, I'll look those up...!

  • hmmmm....well i was born in 1962,so i don't remember it,but 1950's phillips 66 stations are prized by historians-the roof angled out and up toward the street with a wire lattice pole going up thru the point with the p-66 sign on it-nowadays it's conoco/phillips 66/union 76-yes another bloody merger-while i'm at it-the union 76 stations with their orange round signs put a halloween pumpkin mask on said signs in october-and a tank at the refinery in so cal is orange so they "pumpkinize" it too..

  • Great Halloween story! Yes, I knew of the brand here in Australia but we never had the Stations. Must search out a picture of those famous stations - sounds interesting. Thanks for feedback!

  • lol no sounds like something my grandad would like XD
