WiFi is the most retarded thing for a phone. I had it on my iPhone for almost 2 years and used it twice. Just use 3G so you don't have to keep turning of WiFi to save battery.

Obviously it's convenient.. I wish I could afford a data plan... but in Canada our rates are like $30 extra for 1GB on top of the voice plan. That makes our bills ending up being almost $80.

And no, the Iphone is a better browsing experience than any other phone ... and I use WIFI all the time at university, coffee shops, outside friends houses, in bed, downstairs watching tv etc... I don't have to go onto my computer to find out the weather or check my email.

wow ur in Canada n u pay the exorbitant price for a data plan, I envy you that you can afford it, I'd rather spend the extra cash on beer but thats just me. I wouldn't mind if it was like $10 for 500 megs.. or something like that.

Still too much -- I don't care about the bandwidth limit more so, than I care about the price. $10 extra a month for 500 megs is really all I would ever need. Most of my internet outside of wifi is like looking for a phone number or directions.

@jonnyd89 Yeah, exactly, people can't afford it. You will actually see that the MAJORITY of iPhone users did not have a data plan. There was no MANDATE to get a data plan originally to get the phone. The reason why the iPhone was so popular WITHOUT a data plan was because it was one of the first phones to have WIFI. Why do you think blackberry had to come on board?.. Most of their original blackberries did not have wifi. BTW I got data with a retention offer.. 35$ a month for voice+data

I've checked blackberry's site, and it doesnt say anything about this phone having WIFI capabilities, but it fortunately has EDGE and 3G data signals.. But only wifi place im ever at is my home, and i can just use my computer

The screen somehow looked nicer in comparison to to the Storm, Bold and Curve. But I agree with anthonyat5 that the back of the phone didn't look great. The keyboard layout looks alright though

First off they make a gr8 phone (Bold) with everything a guy/gal could want, all except WIFI no coz that would make it a perfect phone and we dont want that. So a revison is made and the Curve 8900 is born WIFI no 3G...WTF? Ok ok were not perfect but in the name of all things just and right what da hell is this 9630? i totally feel you! i mean they make such great phones that CAN be perfect and just fine but they always miss one little thing that ends up going into the next phone which is the supposed to be "updated" version of the original but in order to get the feature they missed in the first place, they have to remove a feature which also happens to be a thing that makes it just perfect!! i have no idea what GSM is but i do know that the 9630 is not goin 2 have something that the other BB (curve has) :(

i see the sim card slot.. all the rumors have been that this is supposed to be released on sprint and verizon around 3rd quarter. its even been posted on a sprint product roadmap. ive read that its supposed to be a world phone with gsm and cdma support... everything ive seen points at this at least being a cdma phone though..

Look closer, holmes. There's a micro SD slot AND a SIM card slot. Buy an 8830, you'll find BOTH there as well. This is a "World Edition" phone... Sprint/Verizon for US and GSM abroad.

What I want to know is if you can unlock it and use the SIM domestically...there's gotta be a way... even though, I have Verizon.
