@Blavat666 Talk about ignorance lol, stop talking about things you don't understand. And get a fucking life man, quit trolling on Andy Warhol videos if you don't like the man.
thanks for this series--I bought a Warhol painting--male torso 3 by 4 feet (from the "factory", in the 60's) I've wondered what the value would be today, it was not stamped or signed--now it looks like it would not pass this board, anyway?
Gemma I have that Brillo Box 'Denied' ,by that artist...Its like buying a Banksy now, for $2,200.00 but will be worth 30 times that..I will embellish just email meluv..
The whole idea of Warhol's studio was mass-production. The Foundation is treating the product as if Warhol sweated over each one, like Rembrandt. Also, thanks Foundation, for the Fragile Edie Sedgwick T shirts. Good taste, guys.
The foudation is not a foundation...its a foundation of jello, mush,no stability and the whore at the top is Claudia Defendi...the top crook...they authenticate nothing, thus keeping the prices hihgh on the work they have in inventory.
I think that all this commotion over authenticity is sort of funny, because I'm pretty sure that thats partly his point of creating art..What's original?
Excellent comment. I love Andy for many reasons but he was so mechanical it almost wreaks of future questions of originality. Brigid did a lot of his "work" admitted by Warhol himself. Detroit pumped out colorful car after colorful car. None of them were real works of quality and many transient people had their hands in it. Now look whats happening. Garbage in-garbage out and the rest of the respective market is scrambling to find any speck of quality and the true mind/hands who created it.
the warhol lawyer seems like a real wanker. are people really that naive, do they actually believe what this guy is saying? hilarious. a real emperors new clothes.
can a group of people elected by a lawfirm which has billed the warhol foundation for tens of millions of dollars, far more than any charity, actually a job without a conflict of interest? this is the bigget unrelulated market in the world, billions of dollars, full of crooks.
It seems some people say Andy supervised all of his work, some people say he did none of it, and I wasn't there so I'll never know. It's madness for sure, but it's a good lesson. When I'm ready and willing to spend $200,000.00 on a work of art from anyone, it would be wise to retain a good lawyer in the process.
rather than a good lawyer I guess you should not buy a Warhol...today you pay millions , tomorrow might be worth nothing, today is confirmed to be a true warhol, tomorrow the Foundation could just say it's a fake...is that fraud?
I'm finding that materials have a lot to do with a piece's authenticity in many respects and it's not likely that Warhol's work will decline in value any time soon. After seeing this program, we switched to linen. Fortunately, all niceart(tm) paintings are numbered and verifiable. Visit "iheartniceart" dot com - right now we're hanging 13 pieces at the Drexel University Medical Library in center city Philadelphia :)
with neil prinz over the indisputable fact that warhol had used two screens for the marilyn at the tate, something which was shown in xrays. prinz whole future depends on the "fact" that warhol painted his own works in the 'important' 60's period, no matter what the truth.
not only do they refuse to listen to those who worked with the artist( at a lecture, neil prinz famously fought with gerard malanga over wrhols working methods, in front of a shocked audience at a lecture) but dr, tom learner, conservation scientist for the tate and getty had a two year uphill battle
Still, it's unwise to dismiss the board members without having done any research into who they are. Just saying "some obscure school in New Jersey" tells me nothing. It could be Princeton for all we know.
i can assure you that neil prinz does not teach at princeton, although i do admit it is a tough job, there is no information which shows that this lot are qaulified. this is the problem. not only is there little information about who they are, other than the fact that he teaches at a college no one has heard of, but they refuse to listent to anyone who actually worked with warhol.
Andy Warhol often left assistants to "mass produce" many of his most famous pictures, among them images of the Campbell soup tin. The decision means many art collectors are left with Warhol works which are now considered copies and therefore worth much less, and some are threatening to sue the board.
Well done Joe, bring them down. What has happened to you it's unbelivable, unfair and I am glad you are now fighting against the Board decision,I can see that their power is so great that they were able to take your BBC video off youtube and diminish the number of viewers that watched it, well good luck and hope everyone in the art world supports your battle.
Andy doesn't give a shit. he won.

Warhol Authentication Board
There is really no way because too many people had their hands in Andy's Work.
This board is just a farce to even think that they could Authenticate anything Andy Did.
Who are these people anyway? NONSENCE!

It is also Ironic that Andy made very few paintings, so are we now authenticating work by Brigid Berlin now?
