I have 3 of these, one later version has a tone switch and an AFC switch added on the front panel. Also it has the audio jack on the rear as well as an external power jack. My folks had my first one back in the 70's and I backed over it sitting on the ground with my car one day, it just bent the frame a little and put a crack in the board but I was able to fix it other than being a little out of shape now, lol.
I had one of those around twenty years ago--picked it up at a flea market. I was wearing a new shirt, went to open the battery compartment, and found myself doused with corroded batteries. Wiped out the shirt.... :-)
FM didn't work, traced it to a small pfd cap near the tuning cap. Replaced it and it played up a storm. I love that leather wrapped cabinet...Arvin always had little touches like that.
1964--After 1960, the year is gleaned from the first two digits in the model number. Before 1960, the model numbers were four digits, and the year was revealed in the two middle digits. For instance, model 8576 was made in 1957....
I wonder if this is the same Arvin that produced space heaters ? I wonder if you can hear WBRF FM 98.1 where you live? I really enjoy that stations webstream.

I always liked the two dials. That was very different and interesting to look at. Yes, Arvin did make some sturdy and quality equipment. Thanks.
