@cjgan80 ......it is. D3 is a 12.4 mega pixel FX , D3X is a 24.4 mega pixel FX, its burst speed is slower because it takes longer to write/save 24 megs vs 12megs. if you shoot fashion you woulld use the D3x , sports the D3 .
The correct pronunciation of Nikon is "Nee-Kon." When Americans say "Nigh-Kon," that is incorrect. But just like when they pronounce Los Angeles as "Los Anjelees" instead of the correct Spanish "Los Ang-he-les," common usage rendered Nigh-Kon as acceptable. Acceptable, but not necessarily correct.
Well if your talking about Digital SLRS than yes I would agree with you, but if we were talking about medium format film and digital camera's I would have to say Hasselblad, and if we were talking about medium format film and Digital cameras I would have to say Leica, and in terms of 35mm film SLRs The Nikon F6 reigns supreme. Just because The D3 is an EXCELLENT DSLR doesn't mean it is the greatest camera in the world.
I am British Army Combat photorapher and I recently shot all my work using D2Xs. I use 2 bodies and despite the dust and heat, it delivered every time. For a sample of my work please search WarTTL
No, it's not a case of potato, potato. It's a Japanese word and it is pronounced Nick-on. There is no other way to say it. You don't go out for Su-shy...you have sushi. The dude from Karate Kid was Mr Miyagi... not Mr My-a-guy.
Think about how you pronounce the letter 'i' in all the Japanese words you can think of:
Hiroshima
Nagasaki
Takahashi
Sukiyaki
etc...
The incorrect pronunciation from Americans drives me mad.
Well, the Nikon rep in the video is pronouncing it "Nai-kon" so presumably Nikon's USA branch pronounces it this way. And using your examples as a guide, wouldn't Nikon be pronounced "Nee-kon" if the letter I was always pronounced with a long E sound, like in "sushi", rather than "Nick-on", like you state?
I will be buying the D200 for personal use, since the price will drop. I would only consider the D300 if it was full frame. Since only slight changes were made to D300, the D200 is just as good.
Long live the full frame.

The lens on the pictures is the 14-24mm 2.8, one of Nikons newest lens which is great on D3 since it's an FX format lens.

You're right, a2b1 is wrong.
Go to Nikon Japan site and you'll see "Kabushikigaisha Nikon" (株式会社ニコン)。
ニコン = Nikon
Word by word in katakana:
二 = Ni, pronounce like "Knee" but not that long. Think of "nick" but no "ck" at the back.
コ = Ko.
ン = N.
Kon. Hard to find a perfect example, kind of in between "Con" and "Gone", the former let out too much air, and the later kind of too many "G" sound.
So, it's more like "Knekon". It's Japanese, so pronounce it Japanese way. Sounds like neko... (¯3¯)

Absolutely all Americans get the pronunciation of Nikon wrong.
The official representative gets it wrong as well, although he does pronounce "Nikkor" right.

Nick-on. Like Nick-or. I believe the Japanese pronunciation is more like Nee-Ko-En, but it certainly isn't anything like Nye-kon.
See also Eye-rack.
