  • mark farner is the man of grand funk

  • Gus Counelis of the Fugitives ALMOST joined the pack.

  • Gus WHO? Never heard of him.....

  • Then again, I doubt the Yardbirds would have wanted to play "Whole Lotta Love"!

  • How very wonderful! Must have been a very special night! Wish I was there!

    Thanks for the post.

  • Doug is a great friend of mine...Flint will miss such a dedicated music guru...Long Live Rock!

  • Let's see if Jimmy Page is ever "humble" enough to go back and play pre-Zeppelin songs with old 'Yardbird' members!

At least Mark never let his ego get so big that he forgot the band that helped put him where he is today!

  • Page hasn't because they don't want him to, but Jeff Beck did in '85 with "Box Of Frogs"

  • Funny you bring that up, because I've found SO many parallels between the histories of both Zeppelin and the Railroad. Both bands evolved from the ashes of previous groups around the late-68, early-69 period, with flamboyant managers. Both bands included re-tooled versions of their previous bands songs on their albums, both bands played every major outdoor festival EXCEPT Woodstock. And both bands started their own subsidiary labels around the same time ("Swan Song" and "Grand Funk".)

  • All right Dennis Bellinger, who layed down some fantastic bass on the No Frills album as well as 2 GFR LPs. I just discovered their website and need to look at it further, but Dennis has a new (to me) trio he's workin' with.

  • Dennis is now in a 5 piece band with Curt Johnson, Eric Gentry, Terry Liedel, and Mark Walrath, called Pac-O-Mojo

  • Pac-O-Mojo sounded great at Mark's show in Flint in August! [2009]

  • What a great night! I had no idea it would be so excellent. Laurie and I just wanted to say thanks to Doug Pullen for all the years of covering MI entertainment and this marvelous moment was one of many that night. Thanks for comin out guys. You should keep that seed growing! Best wishes and good fortune.

    Rusty & Laurie Wright.

  • AWESOME!
