like many people, I guess, I went out with a girl named Kristina and we had a wicked good time listening to this and the SM version. good times, good song.
You're entitled to your own opinion, but I don't see how this version is "shit". Considering Catch 22 of this era and the Streetlight lineup that recorded their version share a few band members.
@mikeymacaque Wow! I havn't listened to this "shit" for like a decade. I had never even heard the streetlight manifesto version but it only took 10 seconds to tell that I liked this one better.
The new Streetlight take on Keasbey is more streamlined, and tighter-soundwise, but the Catch version definitely has an undeniable energy that the new version lacks.
I think on tracks like this one and "9mm And a Three-Piece Suit", it's most noticeable...
on a side note, could someone please explain the cover to me? Does it relate to the song "9mm and a Three Piece Suit", which as far as I can tell is about a bank robbery on acid. Only song that I don't really get on this album.
This is all my interpretation, which is how Tomas wanted it to be, I suppose, but I'm pretty sure it relates to the Keasbey Nights story somehow (point/counterpoint/keasbey nights).
I'm pretty sure 9mm and a three piece suit is about stereotyping, but I could be wrong!
Say what you will about the Streetlight re-do's, but I'd rather see Streetlight perform Keasbey songs than the current Catch 22

The original Keasbey Nights will always be the best. But Tom expanded on a lot with streetlight

Catch 22's recordings of the Keasbey Nights album is superior to that of Streetlight Manifesto's and I'm mad at Tom for doing it.

Yea, they're both great takes on one of ska's best album, I just prefer this one.
I do, however, like the sax solo on "This One Goes Out To..." on Streetlight's version.
mikeymacaque 2 years ago
@n00kify you sound like Patrick Bateman. But youre talking about ska. Which invalidates any cool points automatically.

no.. my friends are neighbors with catch 22 and was there when they wrote this song... this songs is about their other neighbor who one of them liked

we were talking about 9mm and the cover of the album, not this song...

it has to with what keasbey nights is
its a book and it has to do with stuff like that f i recall corectly
WaywardDiglette 3 years ago
Thanks a bunch. IMO the Catch 22 version of Keasbey Nights (the ablum) is better. The new one is just too polished and lacks energy in some places.
