I Love this song so much and wrote by such a wonderfull man, mo Mhuinteoir Gaeilge. This song is trully a tribute to his Idol, an admiration which can only be felt by talking to the man himself! He will be truley missed when he retires at the end of the week not only by his fellow colleagues but also by his students who will miss him dearly.
absolutely beautiful song,i love christy, the right man to pay tribute to luke, thank you kellyoneill for this and all the other stuff you have uploaded. he will never be forgotten. Go raibh maith agat.
Btw, this song is sung live by Christy Moore on the Dubliners 25th yr anniversary special on the Late Late Show...available on dvd. It was written by a fan of Luke's who was present in the audience, he chose to give it to Christy Moore.
Thank you...I'm originally from Ireland... I have listened to some Bosnian music and I love it also...Great Instrumentals...Its lonely in America Sometimes and occassionlly I have met Bosnian people here in America and i feel like they are my Brothers...thanks...take care neckozeuza..
kellyoneil- thank you very much for all your hard work collecting together such a fantastic selection of luke's songs and images for all of us to see- brilliant!
We are glad he passed this way, Christy. Well sung. I wish I hadn't only been 10 when Luke died and that I could have had a chance to discover his music when he was still alive. I am grateful that I can appreciate and enjoy what he left us though. Will never forget him.
I came across christy moore in clifden in july, he was sound enough, but even he said the main man out them all was ,even to luke kelly too was Bob Dylan, I had too agree,
He was wrong and you are wrong. You are comparing apples and oranges. Luke wrote little, he was primarily a singer, not a writer. Whereas Moore and Dylan are mainly known for performing their own work. TO compare those two to Luke as a singer is just plain silly. Moore would like to be compared to Luke but he will only be compared by those who know no better. Whilst he is a reasonable songwriter, he is a low grade singer in comparision to Luke who was a once in a lifetime singer.
was he drunk by any chance?? mabye he had a few pills and his voice got slurred???? Bob dylan dont give a shit about ireland, its traditions or its soul that we have inside our music' he bastardised any irish music he though he had. Where is bob anyway?/ ENGLAND???? AMERICA???? irish my hole hahaha
Thuglordrpt I see now that you were replying to Nylonscrazy's comment, That wasn't at all clear! Thank you for pointing out that I'm a Moron (I haven't heard that word in a while) I may have been harsh calling you a fool, sorry! Anyway's Luke, Christy & Bob are all great in my book :)
christy will admit himself. there is no equal to luke.. he is the king of balladeers always was and always will be. we are lucky to have witnessed his presence. he will never ever ever be equalled.
fair play to you for posting all these luke kelly songs up. like all those rare songs from the "thank you for the days album". and i know my love, saxon shilling etc. keep it up. did you read the comment under mcalpines fusiliers.

Luke Kelly had a similar hairstyle, to Tom Baker when Tom was Doctor Who but Tom had dark brown hair unlike Luke Kelly who had red hair.

I just want to agree with you..
Kelly is unbelievable.
I was certain for awhile that she must be a family member, judging the quality and quantity of her releases,
She is "just" a fan like the rest of us. But oh what a fan!.
